Re: Switch Emulator Ryujinx Might Not Be Dead, Despite Nintendo's Takedown

Well now we have inexpensive entry GPU's that support DLSS so i'm that's one improvement that wouldn't cost much more to make. Plus they're low wattage too so easy on the battery life.

Even a last gen RTX 3060Ti can run BotW at 4K 60fps. Using a custom SoC i'd say Nintendo and Nvidia could make a 4K capable console for around $400-500. Which is a lot cheaper than most people pay for a mobile phone these days

emulation isn't illegal if you already own a copy of the original games. All you're doing is playing them on a more capable platform such as a gaming PC that can handle high res textures, anti-aliasing, HDR colours and better frame rates. If Nintendo could provide hardware that did all that then there would be no need to emulate. Also if they released Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD on the Switch there would be no reason to emulate those either. Emulation happens due to Nintendo's shortcomings.

Re: Talking Point: Would $499 Be Too Much For 'Switch 2'?

Ravenmaster

I would happily pay 600 bucks for a Switch 2 if it can play every game at 4K 60fps in docked mode (with DLSS).

If it can't do that or even 1440p 60fps I will be reluctant to buy it at all. I want my Switch games to look good and play smoothly on a current gen 4K TV.

In handheld mode I expect it to run at 1080p 60fps.

No more cheaping out Nintendo. Make a solid console and i'll pay whatever

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Costs $60 On Switch

Ravenmaster

I would happily pay 60 bucks for Zelda TP HD or Wind Waker HD but a DK Country game that wasn't made by Rare just doesn't appeal to me as much. I would have picked it up for 40 bucks. Maybe i'll just wait until there's a sale. It's not a priority for me.

Re: Review: Perfect Dark (Nintendo 64) - Perhaps Not Perfect, But Still A Remarkable Achievement

Ravenmaster

It's funny coz the only reason Perfect Dark was made was because MGM decided they were going to hoard the rights to the James Bond IP following the success of Goldeneye. Rare were already developing the sequel 'Tomorrow Never Dies' when MGM swept the rug from under their feet. So Rare had to make an original sequel instead of basing their game on the latest James Bond movie. And thus, Perfect Dark was born.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Want To Reuse Your Joy-Con On 'Switch 2'?

Ravenmaster

The sooner they ditch the design of the Switch 1's joycons, the better. Those things are pure garbage. They're weak and flimbsy and constantly get stick drift. The buttons are tiny and holding them just isn't comfortable. The Switch 2's joycons need to be bigger and more robust. Imagine chopping a pro controller in half and sticking both halves on the sides of your Switch. They need to be like that big.

Re: Staff At UK Retailer GAME Reportedly Facing Redundancies

@Westlondonmist GAME was purchased a couple of years ago when it was about to go bust. Mike Ashley (founder of SportsDirect) bought GAME and closed down most of their standalone stores. He then opened mini concession GAME stores within his SportsDirect buildings to see if he could turn a profit by absorbing them. Turns out this was a failed business venture, so now he's winding the GAME section of his business down completely. First shutting down sales of pre-owned stock and now by getting rid of more staff. He's cutting his losses. GAME will be gone within a year or 2.

Re: Poll: So, Do You Prefer Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Or Tears Of The Kingdom?

BotW because it had that brand new Zelda game feel to it. Totk felt more like an extension of BotW because a lot of the overworld was re-used. The depths were too repetitive and the sky islands were mostly forgetable, aside from The Great Sky Island itself. I loved the Zonai tech but a lot of TotK felt overcluttered with grindy sidequests that didn't yield much of a reward.
