This Loftwing Amiibo gives you fast travel like the Travel Medalion did in BotW. The difference is that you didn't need to buy an amiibo to unlock the Travel Medalion in BotW. You got it by purchasing digital DLC.

The trouble with fast travel being locked behind an amiibo purchase is that, if you aren't quick enough to purchase one direct from an official retailer, you'll be forced to buy one from a scalper if you want the fast travel feature.

So this amiibo does pretty much what the Travel Medalion does in BotW. Pretty lame to lock these things behind a paywall.

It'll cost £50 for most buyers who aren't lucky enough to get one directly from Nintendo. Scalpers and all that crap

Nintendo should commission Playtonic Games to make the next Donkey Kong game because most of their devs came from the OG Rareware studio that created the original Donky Kong Country trilogy for the SNES

Played the hell out of the 2D Mario games when I was a kid. Mario Bros, Mario Bros 2, Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2 (6 Gold Coins), Wario Land. Then the 3D ones started coming out and I just lost interest. Was far too busy playing Zelda, Goldeneye, F-zero, Starfox 64, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Killer Instinct Gold by then.

Haven't really played any proper Mario games since then. I tried New Super Mario Bros but it just didn't feel the same so I never bothered with Mario much since.

Wind Waker is a great game. Yeah people complained about the graphics engine at first but in the end it didn't really matter much. The gameplay was fun and the story was very compelling.

However, it begs the question - would people have enjoyed it even more if Nintendo had say... used Twilight Princess style graphics to make the game? Would Wind Waker have been any less lovable with a different graphics engine?

@TheFullAndy But to do 4K DLSS it would require a completely new SoC. The current Tegra chip doesn't support that tech. So new CPU/GPU will be inside. Might warrant a bigger chassis.

@Burntbreadman The screen is going to be bigger which means the console's chassis will be bigger too. Which means they can fit a slightly longer battery in there.

While i do believe Nintendo are working on a successor to the current Switch model, I don't think these specs make any sense.

Why would they make a new console with a higher spec CPU and higher spec GPU just to give it the same low resolution of 720p? It just doesn't add up.

It would make more sense to go with a 1080p handheld res and a 4K docked res using DLSS.

They're taking those games off-sale so that they can re-sell them again in a few years time as Switch Pro titles XD

Was definitely underwhelmed by this Direct. Especially after Mario got 2 whole collections of games for his 35th Anniversary. Zelda just got 1 game. And its strange because Wind Waker and Twlight Princess HD should be easy to port over to the Switch. Meanwhile, they could have had Grezzo work on HD remasters of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.

What would be really awesome is if they released Wind Waker HD on the Switch and added one of the extra dungeons that never made it to the original release.

As for TP, I'd love to see that on Switch too. And I hope Nintendo secretly has Grezzo working on HD remasters of OoT and MM for Switch.

Given that the story of AoC seems more like an alternate universe rather than canon to BotW, I think I might skip this DLC. The main game was far too grindy and repetitive IMO. I loved the cutscenes and the voice acting but at the end of the day, it just seemed like the whole thing was fan fiction.

Damn that Ocarina of Time HD looks so crisp and clean, I love it!

I enjoyed the cutscenes and the voice acting but the gameplay got really boring and repetitive towards the end. I'd rate it 75/100

Keeping the new Perfect Dark title exclusive to Xbox consoles will severely damage the franchise’s chances of becoming well known to this generation’s gamers. If they were to go multi platform or even bring the game out on PC as well as Xbox, it would have a chance to grow. Even more so if they brought a portable version to Switch

I prefer to play Switch on TV at home with the Pro controller but it is nice to have the option of making it portable when I go travelling.

Hell yeah! I tried playing the original SS on a modern 4K tv recently and it was soooo damn blurry. I’d love a graphically crisp clear version on the Switch. It would be a day one purchase for me

The Champions amiibos were the most pointless ones to be added to the game. Each one unlocked a helm that gave you the exact same abilities that the Gerudo headbands gave you (heat resistance, cold resistance, lightning resistance, swim speed increase). They didn’t even combine abilities with the matching ancient armour components. Such a missed opportunity.

Sorry, not gonna buy a remastered game that looks tons worse than the original that I already have on PC

@Duncanballs Yeah probably. The Switch has another 2 years left in its current lifespan. Nintendo always releases a new console every 5 years and we're almost up to 3.

Why would anybody buy a Switch Lite when there's a perfectly 'un-gimped' version already on the market that is cheaper than an xbox or PS4?

I absolutely loved Conker's Bad Fur Day and would defo buy a HD remake of it on Switch if given the chance.

Also loved Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Killer Instinct.

@BlueOcean Same, Zelda's voice was over-acted, Mipha's voice was under-acted. Urbosa was pure gold though.

I played and completed this game on the N64 back when it was first released. It was average then and its even more lacking now XD

It's not an upgrade until it has an 8" screen and can do 1080p 60fps in portable mode with slightly bigger joy-cons
