@CaptainCluck I really do not think so, big companies have lived off gamers giving us souless slop for more than a decade now yes, but quality games still have a decent audience
@Ultimapunch I don't think Nintendo could risk AI slop, they get away with much (I'm looking at you, Pokemon), but AI is almost automatically associated with lowest quality possible
@1UP-HUSKY judging by the difference in popularity, I would expect Raichus to be more commonly found in trash, which is a shame because Raichu is honestly cute and underrated
@VoidofLight oh thanks good to know. They should optimize it better though, because at the end of the day, customer doesn't want to know why something doesn't work, they want the product to work.
@The_Nintend_Pedant yeah I think people just want Nintendo to be a good guy of the industry very badly. They fell apart after Wii U. There were some fantastic games for Switch but there were some slops, and even the best games had cut corners (MK8 doesn't even have volume options so if you want to turn up and hear the game's music, you... go to youtube)
Same with joycons, nowadays it's just excel files on projected sales with quality drops.
They are pushing this game hard. I hope it's as good as Odyssey, but since I didn't get S2 on launch, I will wait for some special edition, then Kong shall be mine
@gcunit If none of those costs existed, games would have been exactly 0,00 USD cheaper. I am not defending current gen pirates (with small obvious exceptions like atomic heart), but companies will always push the prices to the max
@Dee123 I fully agree, if you can easily access a game via purchase, downloading is unacceptable. If less people downloaded current gen games, the goal of preservation would be much clearer to everyone
Preservation should be considered in lawmaking. If a game (or any medium) is not used by a Company (eg. by keeping it in store/releasing a remaster) for a significant amount of time (say, 15 years) it should be legal to share and keep a copy
@nofriendo owning a bookstore sounds really dreamy. I imagine the reality is not that rosy, though. Keep up the good work, it's places like yours that really keep the media going
Great, no need to tell me to buy Harvest Moon twice (as in, no need to tell me twice and no need to tell me to buy it twice)
S or S2 though? Collectors ed ofc
@Anti-Matter true but all NDS games have this fantastic graphics that simply cannot be emulated. But yes this one looks much better than SoS Friends of Mineral Town (I like the game so much but they should have left the GBA graphics)
I have the previous version for Switch 1, they are marvelous. Light as a feather, durable, long cable, 3.5 jack compatible, the only downside is they don't have real triggers.
@larryisaman true, too many great games hsve been lost to the sands of time. Games that are impossible to get nowadays would all be forever forfeit if not for backups and emulators. Of course I am talking about cases like Rule of Rose of Melfand Stories
I refuse to believe they did not predict this, this is one of the dumbest moves by Nintendo yet. By an absolute miracle they avoided an "always internet on" Xbox backlash scale disaster
Sounds intriguing. Reminds me of a certain adventure of a travelling salesman and a girl in white dress. I can almost see the night sky and a neon hotel sign
Then make them with smaller teams and less copypaste content. The best games in history were made with much smaller teams. Not every game needs to have 100000000000000 polygons on a trash can.
Also, how is it complex if there is currently no budget for story and writing as it's all written in a tram on the last day?
Same with music - western games dont even have it anymore.
That's the reason western games are so far behind Japan, with no fighting chance.
@Morsel I still remember the fortress protected by the wind. Retreating your melee cover before they got crushed by a giant ball required serious reflexes and a good bit of luck, as you are locked in a certain rhythm and cannot break it, so if you juststarted a new beat when it appeared, you were basically cooked, as there was no time to beat it perfectly, wait for Patapons to respond, and then beat the retreat song in time
The artstyle is nice enough, character design beats the western AAAs (although it's not much of an achievement). If the story delivers, I'm all for it. I am quite fond of such works, X Files, Eerie Indiana and Twilight Zone are my forte. (Also this UK series with The Collector, can't recall the name)

Seriously, nobody bought a remaster of a 20y old game to listen to the slop that is modern music.

Meanwhile some companies sell games "based on historic events" without doing a 5 minutes of research.
A lot of bad things can be said about Nintendo these days, but it's nice to see that some at least some of their talents still care about quality

No, not from Amazon. Suikoden and Hope for me, but I'd rather support local stores, even if I need to pay more.
It's not about the money
