Re: Talking Point: How Can The Next Animal Crossing Improve Crafting?

Princess_Lilly

It wasn't that meaningful though

And let's be real, there are other things to worry about like:

1. Multiple Islands/towns, this isn't a GBC game
2. The "island MC" nonsense that required the first account to build anything
3. The infinite floral prolifelation crisis
4. having to litter the entire island for the "perfect score" and only 1 Jacob's Ladder

@Spider-Kev Should you be wary? I think no, I mean Pokemon games are all worth playing, it's just a shame they are very low budget.

I do recommend Sun/Moon if you want to try some Pkmn game despite the turn based combat. It's very good (my personal 3rd place after Blue and Silver) and has many quality of life features so I think it's a good starting point

@Spider-Kev yes, pretty much. SW/SH was already so - so with very limited "open space" and Scarlet Violet is a technological tragedy barely running at about 28 to 30 fps, empty cities and completely barebones environments. Surprisingly, the storylines were really solid and it is worth playing, but it really feels more like a student project than a game from a multi bilion company from the worlds most recognizable franchise

These are all fantastic games, well deserved.

@Cathalm all Pokemon are great games but the question whether it's "good" or "bad" to do so well depends on the viewpoint.

It's great for GameFreak because it shows they can keep doing the bare minimum and earn a lot of money

It's not so great for the customers since we will continue to receive severely undercooked games which have great gameplay, but work terribly

Re: Former Rockstar Dev Throws Shade At Mario Kart World, Says New GTA Will Be Worth The Price

"All these other games that come out for 70 bucks, 90 bucks, I mean look you’ve got Mario Kart for $90 - you think Mario Kart competes with a game like this as far as how much stuff they’ve got to put into a game?”"

What a take. Right now both games have 0 playable content as they weren't released yet so those comparisons are completely useless.

I'll pick a bag of gold dust over 10 bags of manure.

And seeing GTA5, and what they are trying to do with GTA6, it's probably gonna be manure. It's not GTA 3/VC and will never be.

@jfp I think if you think about it that way, interpreting violence in a game is kinda weird, seeing as you know for a fact that you are basically "killing" a bunch of pixels

Japanese is so... different, as if you were buying some extreme sports manual. European is more pronounced, but it's pretty standard.

I really like that minimalistic Japanese design, I think it really brings the attention to the icons and the top art

@nhSnork Well, some would say that it's more than fleeting amusement, it actually gives some insight into the production process. Also, lore of one of the most important franchises in history.

But yes, some lines were crossed when obtaining them. It's a matter of whether what we gained is worth of what N lost. Of course we are speaking about non private, non personal information. The rest is absolutely crossing the line and I do not condone it

Re: Community: 38 Switch Games We Missed, As Recommended By You

Princess_Lilly

@Mariotag I would say a fair amount, but not too much. Most enemies are based on Youkai/Yuurei, so you have scythe wielding weasels (kamaitachi), little spirits (kodama), tengu, big ogres (oni), and so on.

The game doesn't have dialogues though, and the main plot seems to be its own thing, so it's not fully based on Japanese myths like Okami, which tells the tales of Susano'o, Issun Boushi, Amaterasu etc.

Are you interested in Japanese folklore?

Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Is Out Now, But Switch 2 Is Unconfirmed

Princess_Lilly

@LavaTwilight true, as long as they stay true to the original's artistic approach, I'll allow it.

I remember when I first saw Vivek, and I was like - okay, a city 10x bigger than Balmora o_O

That was such a golden age of gaming, you knew nothing of a game other than it's grand, and everybody loves it, and imagination filled the gaps, making the game so magical, so enormous. It was something you just wanted to see, like a beautiful diorama full of details

Re: Community: Did We Miss A Great Switch Game? Give Us Your Recommendations

Princess_Lilly

You missed the biggest release of January! <shakes fist furiously> (Phantom Brave 2), but it's kinda hard to recommend when everyone knows everything about that one anyway.

So I cast my vote on something smaller, but still VERY interesting. I hope it gets featured, I don't even need the "credit" I just want people to know it, the designers made it with love and it shows. (Kemono Heroes)
