Re: Nintendo's On A Mission To Unmask The Pokémon 'Teraleak' Hacker

@nhSnork Well, some would say that it's more than fleeting amusement, it actually gives some insight into the production process. Also, lore of one of the most important franchises in history.

But yes, some lines were crossed when obtaining them. It's a matter of whether what we gained is worth of what N lost. Of course we are speaking about non private, non personal information. The rest is absolutely crossing the line and I do not condone it

Re: Community: 38 Switch Games We Missed, As Recommended By You

Princess_Lilly

@Mariotag I would say a fair amount, but not too much. Most enemies are based on Youkai/Yuurei, so you have scythe wielding weasels (kamaitachi), little spirits (kodama), tengu, big ogres (oni), and so on.

The game doesn't have dialogues though, and the main plot seems to be its own thing, so it's not fully based on Japanese myths like Okami, which tells the tales of Susano'o, Issun Boushi, Amaterasu etc.

Are you interested in Japanese folklore?

Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Is Out Now, But Switch 2 Is Unconfirmed

@LavaTwilight true, as long as they stay true to the original's artistic approach, I'll allow it.

I remember when I first saw Vivek, and I was like - okay, a city 10x bigger than Balmora o_O

That was such a golden age of gaming, you knew nothing of a game other than it's grand, and everybody loves it, and imagination filled the gaps, making the game so magical, so enormous. It was something you just wanted to see, like a beautiful diorama full of details

Re: Community: Did We Miss A Great Switch Game? Give Us Your Recommendations

Princess_Lilly

You missed the biggest release of January! <shakes fist furiously> (Phantom Brave 2), but it's kinda hard to recommend when everyone knows everything about that one anyway.

So I cast my vote on something smaller, but still VERY interesting. I hope it gets featured, I don't even need the "credit" I just want people to know it, the designers made it with love and it shows. (Kemono Heroes)

Re: Nintendo's On A Mission To Unmask The Pokémon 'Teraleak' Hacker

@Metazoxan it also makes more sense when you understand Japanese mythology, too. Many pokemon are based on mythical creatures, like a 9 tailed fox, or Baku (a dream eating tapir). The Typhlo story is based on such fables and reads like one of them. Apparently it's like some story of a Mujina/badger (and Typhlosion is supposed to be a Mujina). Can't verify though as I heaven't read anything similar, I specialize in Kitsune/Nekomata more.

@blindsquirrel yeah he lost my vote when someone kindly informed me about that one. Long time no see btw.

He brought us the lore of the ancients, the good, the bad, and the ugly of it all. A formidable scribe of the otherwise to-be lost media.

May he keep uncovering the past of franchises, like the Indiana Jones of gaming. Lost media is such an interesting topic

edit: got informed he also leaked some private info, he lost my vote.

Minimalistic approach in Japanese ver would work if it wasn't so... repetetive? The shadows on petals show that it's probably the same flower copypasted and placed at random. Unless Im seeing things

@BulkSlash that shows its age, the best age for a VG

Re: PS5 Digital Edition Now More Expensive Than Switch 2 In UK & Europe

Princess_Lilly

@Donutman I'm not saying people like you should not have an option. I'm saying companies should not use such underhanded tactics as selling two versions of console, one with inflated price and one without a core component. That way they present their product as more valuable by comparison.

I'm saying you should have been able to buy PS5 priced like PS5D

Re: Japanese Retailer Is Asking The Public How To Combat Switch 2 Scalpers

Princess_Lilly

2 units per customer max? The main issue would be identifying duplicate accounts, but a possible solution (not a perfect one but the only one I thought of just now after 9-7) would be to check the addresses. If 2 or more accounts want the product to be shipped to a single address, just cancel the transaction, but do not tell the scalper until the release date.

Re: A Price Hike Puts The PS5 Digital Edition Above The Switch 2 In The UK And Europe

Princess_Lilly

Digital edition consoles have no place in the perfect world we are striving towards

@TheBlueCatMenace I'm afraid Sony gave up on catching up to Nintendo long ago

@Ooccoo_Jr to be honest, it's hard to say what value S2 is right now. We don't know whether the joycons are durable, and we don't know whether the keycard atrocities will be used instead of physical

@Olliemar28 word up. Given the erratic nature of this idea, the only thing I am certain about is that whatever the price is to be paid, we will be the ones to pay.

Re: Opinion: In A Post BOTW And Elden Ring World, Xenoblade Chronicles X Is Still Daunting

Princess_Lilly

Exploring a game world is such an enticing, powerful experience. It's like a intimate insight into one's mind, their fears and hopes, taken form. I have explored countless worlds and for me, lore and consistency is what makes the whole experience the most enjoyable.

What I mean isnt even the amount of things to do in a game. It's seeing how the game's mechanics, biology, energy sources, works as a believable, if not realistic, ecosystem. Genshin Impact provides an enormous amount of experiences like that. Creatures that have worked out a symbiotic relationship with ancient machinery, the landscape dictating what critters and flora can be found there, even positioning of buildings matter.

The lore, as in a story, is also very important. Even the simplest "someone dug too deep and now monsters ate everyone" can be written so well, I end up endulging every time.

@Spider-Kev I would respectfully disagree. While most encounters look like they are not worth much in terms of loot, I really liked how an enormous amount of carefully crafted, yet very simple puzzles have been incorporated into the world. Even enemy encounters seem more diverse when you can steal equipment in one camp, then use a balloon to bomb-drop explosives on another, it just makes the experience. Did you find the combat and puzzles dull, or was it lack of architecture and NPCs/stories behind them?
