Sometimes the 3DS eShop can deliver some surprise gems, and one of these in 2016 was Parascientific Escape Cruise in the Distant Seas; it has an interesting story, while blending escape room-style gameplay with a sense of adventure. We were rather taken with it in our review, in any case.
The good news is that CIRCLE Entertainment is publishing its follow-up, Parascientific Escape: Gear Detective this week in North America, with a US price of $5; no European date has been given quite yet. As you can see in the trailer and blurb below it's looking to maintain the positive momentum of the original.
The story follows Detective Kyosuke Ayana, who has the ability named chronokinesis which allows him to look back in time in a limited field of view, for up to 5 days back. Detective Ayana is hired to find a serial killer threatening the quiet neighborhood of Camellia Hills - but soon finds himself in much bigger trouble as he investigates the crime scenes.
Are you tempted to check this out when it arrives on the 3DS eShop?

No way! Hope it hits Europe soon and is as good as the first
This game completely flew under my radar. Going on a buying spree next week, will make sure to put this on my shortlist.
The first one caught my interest, but I never really had the motivation to buy it. Not only does this game look highly promising, but it makes me want to buy the first one now.
I do love cheap decent games. It don't look like the 3Ds is going anytime soon
Going to check this out. Missed its predecessor.
Eh, I happen to enjoy the first one by quite a beef. I'll most likely check this one out after taking care of my Switch preorders.
I tried the first one and I didn't like it that much, I didn't get very far since I was expecting more of a 999 type of game story wise.
The sequel looks interesting but I'll wait for the reviews.
It doesn't follow the same characters as the first? Huh… I was kinda looking forward to finding out more of their story…
I got the first one, played for an hour and never played again. I don't really like the artstyle and it didn't hook me right away like so many other games of its type. I'll go back to it someday and if I enjoy it, I'll get this one as well.
Sweet im all over this one. The first game was great unlike that other detective game which was basically a demo and got a great rating here.
This will defenitely be better than Chase: Cold case investigator which was rated a 7 here at Nintendolife. It was a demo for 5.99 which you sit down and beat in 20 minutes from start to finish. At best a rating of 3 only because of the decent artwork. I think the guy who rated it, bought it, played it 5 minutes and based on what he had played gave it 7. The first game of Parascientific was a good detective/escape game. Cant wait for the next one
Did the first one ever come to Europe?
