Glad it’s confirmed. It was the difference between buying or not for me. Now I wonder what icon the Pokemon will get. That awesome little Gameboy icon for the 3DS VC games made me recatch a big bunch of my living dex.
I know there's going to be a load of things I don't care about, but Gen 10 is going to be up there with GTA VI as one of my most anticipated games of the year.
I guess Gale of Darkness on NSO will be nice too, but I could take it or leave it.
I've seen videos of people comparing it to the Wii U version upscaled through an emulator, and it does somehow look worse. So I can understand people being annoyed at having to pay for an upgrade when people coding an emulator in their spare time can achieve better results.
Both for me! I always get both versions. Funnily enough, I’ve still not bought Legends ZA because for me Pokemon become about my collection of them. ZA has nothing new so I’m not really interested.
Meanwhile, every Pokemon game prior to Switch has time ticking down on you being able to bring your Pokemon into the modern day games. If they put up every past Pokemon title up digitally on Switch to buy for this price, I’d buy them all.
This is great, but why just FRLG? I hope we get at the least the OG Gameboy games too. New users can’t download Pokemon bank anymore so all the old physical editions from prior to the Switch are cut off from bringing Pokemon to modern day games.
Also, it’s way better than these are not included in NSO. No way would they have allowed Home integration if you had save states available as they don’t want people using that to clone Pokemon.
I’m torn on the price. Personally I’ll happily pay it, and you could always tell people to go look at the price of the cartridges on the aftermarket and see if they still think it’s a bad deal. On the other hand, they are just dumping a rom, so in terms of the resources they spent on this it’s close to zero.
Doesn't matter why people are doing it. Emulators are legal and Nintendo are bullying people here because they know these people don't have the money to take it to court, where it would be ruled they are doing nothing wrong.
It's kind of ironic, as Nintendo has used the work of hobbyist programmers in the past to provide emulation.
I’m sure it’s considered a bonus because it’s not really a MGS game. It’s the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, not the Metal Gear Master Collection. I think people hoping for Rising or Acid will be disappointed.
@Spoony_Tech Kiwami 2 came out 9 years ago. I know it seems like they’re all coming at once on Switch but the alternative is holding back a finished game while it comes out on other systems.
So apparently the going rate for a Super Bowl ad means Nintendo probably spent significantly more just to air this than they did on the development of Legends ZA. That’s just to air it. Not even counting how much they’ve paid to the celebrities featured. Crazy.
I’d really like Fallout 4 on Switch 2, but the Skyrim port doesn’t fill me with much confidence. On top of that, you can get it for next to nothing on other platforms and it’s hard to justify spending full price on it. Still, I will be tempted if it’s not an awful port.
It is looking a bit sparse, but honestly mainline Fire Emblem and Pokemon are always highlights of any year for me. About the only first-party titles I'd be more excited for are new mainline 3D Mario and Zelda.
I've spent the last 2 months buying up loads of them so I can replace my physical Pokemon games with digital. I'm doing that with my whole library, but other stuff goes on sale at least and I can wait a couple of years for that if I have to. Get 8% off eShop credit through a thing at work, so combining that and the vouchers means those Pokemon games are down to £38 each instead of £50.
I thought it was pretty crazy they survived last time, but it’s a very different world today. Not sure the physical market can support any dedicated retail brand, and especially not one as badly run as Game.
So grateful I can play these on my Series X still, along with so many others. I buy most games on PlayStation these days but it sucks there is nothing prior to PS4 there, and for Switch 2 it only goes back to the Switch.
For all Microsoft’s mistakes, the one thing I appreciate is their approach to backwards compatibility. I can play Fallout 3 and New Vegas on Series X now, but on PS5 all those games are cut off.
Nobody in charge of regional arms of Nintendo has any say in what games they make, so no point slating Doug Bowser because you’ve not liked the games over the last 6 years so much.
@SirLink What do you expect? Those sites make money off views, and the hype for a new Bethesda game is going to generate views. It's either that or go the Nlife route of constantly putting out lists just so they have an excuse to post affiliate links to 50+ games.
I wonder how long we're going to be getting these games that started life as Switch 1 games. Considering how few big releases there were the last few years, you'd imagine they still have quite a few other games in the same situation that they've not announced yet.
@johnedwin It does exist on the server. It can't be purchased, but people who have purchased it digitally, or with game key cards, can still download it.
I appreciate the swappable buttons. Once you're familiar with a game, you don't need to look, but if you swap between systems a lot, and are frequently trying new games, it really helps.
I don't really find the Pro controllers (8BitDo Pro that is) that comfy though, and I'm going to stick with the Ultimates.
Like everyone else, I’d love to be able to do it that way, but I can’t see Nintendo doing it. Almost every free emulator out there gives more options than Nintendo who have highly paid coders and access to the actual hardware designs. If they can’t give us easy wins like that, they’re probably not going to give us individual rom files outside the app.
Sometimes, time just leaves a series behind. People can blame MS all they want, but F-Zero and Star Fox show a series can flounder in the same way under Nintendo.
@Misima The price any retailer sells products at are irrelevant to how much Nintendo gets. They've bought the stock, Nintendo got paid. That store can sell it at whatever they want. This is 80s Nintendo and anti-consumer practices all over again. Practically every retailer in the UK sells at way under the RRP Nintendo sets.
@Johnny44 These charts are put together for publishers. I know they've become a regular thing for gamers to analyse, but the companies that put the charts out, do it to sell sales data back to publishers. Publishers don't need that service for digital games as they already know it.
I’m holding out for a 1TB if I can, but all I’ve got installed at the moment are evergreen titles I constantly pick up and play and the internal storage is full.
@pikachupikachup An online ban which stops you accessing their servers. Considering most Switch 2 games are on Game Key Cards which need access to online servers, I’d say this is a pretty big deal.
I feel like people still don’t know what DF is. They’re not Game reviewers, they’re interested in going as in depth as possible on the technical specs, and that’s their niche.
And it’s crazy to me people think DF have any kind of bias. They’re deal in factual data. Unlike almost every other website out there which gives opinions. DF rarely go into opinions. It’s about as objective as you can get.
Cross Save is excellent, and it makes me want to buy more games with it. Don't have to make the decision between having it portable, or having it look and run as good as possible.
Square Enix seem determined to avoid giving definitive versions of games. For years we had the Persona 3 FES/Portable debate, then it was Dragon Quest VIII PS2/3DS, and more recently Dragon Quest XI/XI S. In all those situations, you can't say for sure one is superior to the other as they make improvements in one, but then also remove stuff/make things worse.
Saying it’s the guy’s fault for not transferring to home is ridiculous. He used a Nintendo approved method of transferring and something went wrong. If something can go wrong with this, then something can go wrong with Home.
I better go check my saves, as Pokemon for me these days is also adding to my 20+ year collection. Without that, I don’t think I’d play the new ones.
I’m sorry, but that’s BS on the part of Nintendo. Nobody should be okay with a corporation being able to make your console, or worse, your entire collection useless because you did something they didn’t like.
I don’t think this is something that can be resolved with a hardware revision, it’s just a downside of lithium ion batteries. It’s probably more common right now as some of these units will have been sitting over six or seven months without use after being produced. It’s the lack of use that usually does this to those batteries.

Re: Talking Point: How The Heck Will MGS4 On Switch Handle Its PlayStation References?
@anoyonmus Always play in release order. That goes for any media. MGS, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4.
Peace Walker is not essentially from a story or gameplay perspective. It’s a nice bonus extra.
Re: Talking Point: How The Heck Will MGS4 On Switch Handle Its PlayStation References?
There’s no way it will reference game key cards when the know the majority of sales will just be digital sales.
