It's October, so you know what that means: it's time to ditch the colourful get-ups and cheerful demeanor for spooky outfits, schlocky horror films, and a general appreciation for all things dark and sinister.
That's right, Halloween is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than to lose yourself in a selection of awesome creepy music from a group of talented composers? The album, called Scarlet Moon Halloween: Volume 1, comes from the music label Scarlet Moon and features tracks based on classic gaming franchises such as Metroid, Castlevania, Silent Hill, DOOM, and Resident Evil.
We love the remixed music on offer here - particularly 'Kraid's Brew' and 'A Moment of Relief' - and the album definite succeeds in getting us excited for Halloween; heck, we're about two steps away from carving out a pumpkin! You can check it out in the Spotify embed below; just... no one tell Nintendo, okay?
What do you make of this selection of Halloween-inspired gaming music? Tell us in the comments below.

Not a fan of "Kraid's Brew," it sounds too dubstep-y for me. Night of the Chozos is pretty good though.
I'm all about this. I already have a Halloween playlist that I listen to through October every year that already includes a couple of versions of Bloody Tears. As well as the obvious "What a horrible night to have a curse" by the Black Dahlia murder. Looking forward to giving this a listen.
Bloody Tears > Vampire Killer
@Zuljaras Agreed
Gives me some Overclocked Remix vibes. I should revisit that site again.
Ghost Ship Painting > Bloody Tears > Vampire Killer
No, wait...
Ghost Ship Painting > Beginning (Rondo of Blood version) > Bloody Tears > Vampire Killer
No wait...
ugh.. there are so many good songs!!
Haha, I liked the funky cover of the save room music from Code Veronica.
@Zuljaras I like both, but I totally agree. Give me a choice and I'll pick Bloody Tears every time.
This version of Vampire Killer sounds bland to me though. It's been performed better by others.
