Re: Soapbox: Seriously Nintendo, It's Time For A Switch Joy-Con With A Proper D-Pad

PLATINUM7

It would be nice but I haven't had any problems using the current joycons, even for the games mentioned in the article. The buttons work fine for Namco Museum and I've found myself using the analogue stick on the sideways joycon to play Galaga which works quite comfotably. The stick doesn't work so well for Pac-Man but the buttons work fine.

As for titles like Street Fighter and King of Fighters, the buttons are crap for playing it but the stick works just fine for me.
Then there's just about everything else. Lots of people question how it would be possible to play titles like Shovel Knight or Cave Story without a proper D-pad. Well I played them just fine using the buttons.

So really, if the buttons fail me, the stick works fine. If the stick fails me, the buttons work fine. Nintendo can release a D-pad joycon but I have no need to spend money on it.

Such hate for trophies/achievements in this section. I like hunting trophies down on my PS3/4 but the ones I go for never feel like a chore for me. The ones that do I just don't bother with. They're really no different to any other challenge or list of tasks in a video game that hasn't existed before achievement systems were a thing. Only difference is you get them displayed on your digital profile.
Sometimes they do get me to do things I wouldn't normally have done, which I appreciate because then I get more out of a game. That being said, it's not like they're needed. I certainly didn't need an achievement system on the Switch to complete all the shrines in BotW. Likewise, I was happy to 100% games I enjoyed before these systems were in place.

Re: Miyamoto Was Worried How Players Would React To Mario Odyssey's New Donk City

Seems likes there's a lot of people here who hate New Donk City.
Meanwhile I think it's cool. The realistic humans looked off for a second until I realised Mario has appeared with humans designed differently both in his own sports games and Smash. Plus Mario has been in city settings before in the Donkey Kong games. I'm glad each kingdom is going for a unique feel. Makes levels more interesting than just grass, desert, ice, lava and the other usual level designs.

Re: Pokkén Tournament DX Confirmed For Nintendo Switch

I got more than I expected for the 6 minute presentation. Not surprised to see so much salt here though, it is Nintendolife after all.

I didn't get Pokken on Wii U, so the DX version is tempting. If I did get the Wii U version though 'd be annoyed.

Ultra Sun and Moon, not that excited for but I'll probably still get.

Happy to see my favourite Gen on VC, although I replaced my Gold gamepak's battery not too long ago and replayed it. It's currently in a Transfer Pak being used to play through Pokemon Stadium 2. Might get the VC release, I'll see.

Re: Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition Lands On 11th May

I haven't had much interest in getting Minecraft on consoles, PC has always been enough. The Switch, however, might tempt me. It's not the first portable Minecraft but the combination of home and handheld gaming is making the Switch more and more of the go to platform for multiplats like this.

Brief annoyance sounds like that might be it. I mean, I managed to playthrough Oblivion that couldn't hold a steady frame rate a lot of the time. As long as it's not constant, or really bad to the point where your inputs don't even come out in time, it would just be a minor annoyance.

I guess playing it I might notice frame rate drops more but from what I've seen here, it wasn't too bad. WWHD had frame rate drops when there where several enemies on screen (like many other games I've played) but the frame rate looked fine when those camouflaged enemies pounced all together. There was no major slowdown.

Also I watched the video here and one Nintendo themselves uploaded. I thought I noticed more frame rate issues on Nintendo's video but did a side by side comparison and really couldn't tell. So maybe the videos have something to do with it?
