The teams behind new Switch JRPG Revenge of Justice have both issued statements to their official websites today, apologising over content found within the game.
Both Kemco, the game's publisher, and developer City Connection have acknowledged reports that said the new game has a number of similarities to PC game, Harusuberiya Jojishi 2. After an investigation into the situation, it was found that the latter was used as a reference for certain scenarios, settings, character settings, and dialogue in the new game.
Yashioji, the creator of the Harusuberiya series, has made it clear that he is not involved with this new, unrelated project from Kemco and City Connection. Despite all of this, all three parties have noted that, after some discussion, sales of Revenge of Justice will continue as planned and that Yashioji has no issue with the continued distribution of the game.
Revenge of Justice is available now on Switch and PS4, exclusively in Japan. It's a new strategy RPG with multiple endings to discover.

Read the article hoping they'd apologised for the utterly stupid name but alas, some people have no shame.
man, when japanese nintendo really kicks the bucket in a week, i wonder who the new source will be
With the amount of trash Kemco pushes out on a really regular basis, this isn't a big shock.
Revenge of Justice indeed.
You mean that City Connection or at least someone in that company plagiarized a good portion of Yashioji's work, and despite that they've decided to not take action?
That's... quite surprising. Internally though, someone working at City Connection is probably finished.
Had never heard of the game, but having just seen the trailer ... it's tragic if a game's budget runs so thin that it just covers like 2D assests and the 3D execution has to run on fumes
I feel like Kemco is actually one guy using RPG Maker in his mom's basement, and their "developers" are just the people in that guy's D&D group.
(This is not a slur against D&D, I played D&D fanatically for about fourteen years. In my mom's attic, no less.)
Ah, they used the same name generator as Shadows: Awakening.
How is Kemco still around? Have they made a single game that people actually liked? I don't think I've heard anyone defending them ever. At best I hear "It's okay, if you've never played any other JRPGs or anything similar story wise"
@Incarna Yeah specially they need to apologise for releasing the horrible Batman: Dark Tomorrow. And I refuse to forgive them.
Kemco seal of quality......
"Revenge of Justice"? Seeing how many games Kemco releases on a regular basis makes me think they(?) must be doing something right. Maybe it's time I try RPG Maker...
Nice artwork, anyway.
@Incarna where is your profile pic from?
@Incarna Damn it I knew it was that haha it looked familiar. Hows the plat anyway I might do it. I'm at end game but I didn't rush I did ton of other side stuff along the way. I prob might be close?
Aren't all Kemco games just ripoffs of other JRPGs?
If anyone’s actually curious, Kemco’s just the publisher for the most part. They work with several different companies, which is how they manage to push out games so fast.
I’ve played a bunch of their games... Asdivine Hearts was surprisingly fun, and I liked the customization system. That’s probably the best one. Certainly one of their best translation jobs. Dragon Sinker and the other Asdivine games were also a good time.
Other than that, they’re pretty average at best... You won’t find much you can’t get better from somewhere else. On the other hand, if you’re like me and really into budget RPG games, Kemco is a treasure trove.
It’s kind of like comfort food... It’s not good for me, but I keep coming back for more anyway.
Don't buy any Kemco games don't support plagiarism.
Yeah... I'll stick to Dragon Quest XI S, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Valkyria Chronicles 4 and similar games for my JRPG fix, thank you very much.
Asdvinie Hearts is a pretty good 40-50 hour JRPG (for just one playthrough - completion takes more time) that costs just a few bucks.
Most of their RPGs feel a like a mix of 16-bit SNES and 90ies PC-JRPG. All of Kemco's RPG's are around the 6/10 - 8/10 mark in my book, which puts them over the mediocrity of many other RPG (especially Western) producers.
Yes, they are not very original (and graphics and music repeat often) but the mechanics are mostly the same as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, so if you like those games, there's nothing to argue about the gameplay of Kemco's RPGs.
Sure, they're not as great as Nintendo's, Sega's, Square Enix's, or NIS America's RPGs, but keep in mind they are around 10 bucks instead of 60!
Kemco's games don't seem to have any major or minor bugs (their playtesters seem to do a great job) so with an unbiased perspective, Kemco is still one of the better RPG devs and they get way too much criticism for their efforts.
If the Switch hadn't such a big library of fantastic RPGs I would pick up Kemco RPGs more often.
@SKTTR was Revenant saga one of their games? I think that was my first and only of their rpgs. It was great value for money at the time as I'm pretty sure it was released back in 2017 for the Switch. Now, I've got old final fantasy games I can play at a similar price as I never did play any final fantasy game after 7. Not to mention the ridiculous backlog of other games I've got besides.
It happens. Creators think another creation is so good that they don’t realize they’re copying it too much. It says a lot that the original developer doesn’t have a problem with the new game. It’s not meant to be a complete ripoff like Fortnite is
Oh, so Kemco isn't apologizing for flooding the eShops with mediocre RPGs?
@SKTTR Back when NL was still reviewing everything, I'm pretty sure they never rated a Kemco RPG better than 6/10. The games are far from trash but still rather mediocre. From what I've seen, the gameplay systems are functional but rather bland and repetitive. There are hundreds of better JRPGs out there that you could spend your entire life playing without ever touching one of theirs, including a number of actual SNES games.
All I know is... City Connection is a retro, unique, amazing game from my childhood that inspired so many others. They branched out to form their own company back in the day. Check it out if you have time to broaden your horizons out of this stupid Anime BS.
