Bandai Namco has kicked off a lovely new initiative which promises "more fun for everyone" by giving players access to a free game. Sadly, though, "everyone" doesn't seem to include Switch owners.
The company is offering up PAC-MAN Championship Edition 2 for free starting from today until 10th May. A press release reads, "Our vision is to follow our slogan word for word and provide – “more fun for everyone.” We are striving to provide entertainment that everyone can enjoy in the hope we can bring smiles and laughter to video game players throughout the world during this difficult time."
The offer's valid on PS4, Xbox One and PC, but PAC-MAN Championship Edition 2 Plus - the version of the game available on Switch - doesn't seem to count.
It's a shame that Switch owners can't join in on the fun - we can only assume the reason has something to do with Switch only having the 'Plus' edition of the game - but if you do happen to own another system, make sure to grab this offer while you have the chance:
- PlayStation 4: PAC-MAN Championship Edition 2 for PlayStation 4 players
- Xbox One: PAC-MAN Championship Edition 2 for Xbox One players
- STEAM: PAC-MAN Championship Edition 2 for PC players

It's okay, us Nintendo fans got Lost Reavers for free runs off laughing madly
Not sure why any Switch owner would want to cry about this game being free on other platforms when they got the better version anyways.
As sale would be nice. I've had it on my wishlist for awhile now and there's been numerous bandai namco sales on the eshop (including right now), yet PCE 2 is never on sale.
Edit: Apparently this is only an issue in the US and the UK has had many sales. Maybe its not selling as well in the US?
Nintendo didn't deserve this, anyway.
Actually, Switch owners can join in on the fun--by realizing that they're allowed to own multiple consoles. This Switch owner loves his PS4.
Sad about Bandai Namco.
@retro_player_77 I think the jist of the article is that it seems odd to "not" include the Switch version simply because it is a DX version, as the whole sentiment of Namco is to "have fun" regardless of platform.
It is a decent game regardless of version tbh. Namco befuddle me with their releases recently though.
@JimmySpades I always found brand allegiance rather odd! Im also a happy multi-console owner
This is a low-budget game with poor graphics and I really hope that Nintendo switch owners aren't crying because they're not getting it. We should be more concerned about getting the next Tales of game or the next Soul Calibur or anything of higher quality and higher importance.
It's also the only Namco game they don't put on sale every three weeks.
I want this version for the multiplayer but I'm not paying full price for it because I already have it on PS4.
@JimmySpades for some people (including me) multiple consoles is more expensive than they can afford. For those that can afford multiple consoles, go ahead! Grab them all! I am sticking with Nintendo consoles and handhelds until I can get my mitts on more cash as I prefer Nintendo IPs (smash, animal crossing, etc) over Xbox or PS IPs.
Already own it on the Switch, but might as well pick it up for free on the other three as well.
Strange that Switch is left out, though. That being said, I’d prefer if the just released more from their back catalog.
I think I paid four quid for this in a sale the other day. It's pretty good, but I haven't had much time to play it - I'm looking at you Animal Crossing.
The PS4 version is still full price on the Canadian PS Store
Well that pretty much ensures that I never buy it now unless they do eventually make the Switch version free at some point.
@BenAV So you are not buying it because even if they give it away for free, that would not count as buying it.
@Sinton agreed, at this point I'd be happy with the free to play games they released on PS3 waaaay back in 2013 or the Ridge Racer that didn't sell because of the stupid release model (sold in pieces on Vita). Anything other than the stream of anime fluff that I never really associate with Namco.
I guess we didn't share enough on social media.
@Amin_Parker
"with poor graphics"
Game looks fine considering what it is, what kind of graphics were you expecting from a top down maze Pac Man game?
EDIT: Also it would take a lot less effort to make this game that was already released 2 years ago on Switch free, than porting Soulcaliber, Tails of Arise, etc.
@WillQuan Correct.
@daveh30 Same. Steam as well isn't free. Only XBO I could claim successfully.
The first version of Pac-man championship is still available & free on the Switch, at least on NA eshop.
EDIT: oh, it's regular pac-man versus. that's different. Thanks correcting me
Switch Namco Museum doesn't even have Ms Pac-man. What is the deal with that?
@Amin_Parker lmao are you seriously getting on to Pac Man for having bad graphics???
@dok5555555 it definitely did go on sale not so long ago, I picked it up when it was half-price.
Namco Museum DLC, please. I will pay.
@graysoncharles - To be fair, there is a difference between physically affording their games and affording the support of multiple consoles.
Many who have bought many Switch games may only want to support that system to the best of their ability than buy two systems and unable to support them both. I mean, it would make sense for one to want Switch and the 5 games they'll play most than buy 2 systems and have one solitary game choice between them.
I don't fall into either category now, being one who has PC, PS4 and Switch actively (not to mention owning the game). But I have been there, and it is just easier to focus on a solid system of support than play catchup forever cause you can financially buy 2 or more systems, but lack the overhead to support both.
@WoomyNNYes
Namco doesn't fully own Ms. Pac-Man, Atgames is the one who owns the rights to it. And after Atgames falsely advertised the Namco Flashback as having arcade games, Namco si not on a good relationship with the company.
It was on sale a couple weeks ago. Even tho I had the original on Steam, I grabbed bough Switch version, since I could use some PAC-MAN action on the go. Pretty solid game and great multiplayer distraction.
@FargusPelagius Everyone threw at the game but honestly, I quite enjoyed it. I would like a new version for the Switch, now that f2p games have more presence on the console and the playerbase could be bigger.
@Amin_Parker I really hope this is sarcasm.
@WoomyNNYes Do you mean the Multiplayer app? That's not the original game. The first game is not even available on the Switch.
I was looking at PCE2+, considering on getting it. I might still get it down the line. Instead, I got Namco Museum on sale.
Thanks @Toy_Link
@Marxally Oh, you're right. The free thing on Switch eshop is regular Pac-man Vs(multiplayer). I see.
@Toy_Link
I thought AtGames was denied rights to Ms. Pac-Man.
I only have the Switch version, so getting it free everywhere else is about perfect for me.
Just grabbed it on Steam. Thanks for the tip... now if I only I had time to play it...
Its not really a good game. I found it to be over-designed and complicated. Look for the Pac Man Championship DX. That is an awesome game.
@blackknight77
Looking at those Steam reviews, mostly negatives. Is this one of those games you don't want even for free?
Are they going to go with the “Switch uses cartridges” excuse here?
@ecco6t9
Nopee, Switch version is getting a special sale..a 20% price hike for limited time. Buy it if you want a few extra gold coin.
I bought this a long time ago, and stopped playing pretty quickly. I think the reason was that it had a time limit rather than a progression. Can’t remember the details, but at best I thought it was ok.
@TheLightSpirit ?
This is what Namco is thinking: PS4 owners have PS now and PS plus and therefore don’t buy games as much. Switch owners have old NES and SNES games for “free” with their online service. They are more likely to buy games, why give it for free.
@TheLightSpirit I'm not upset. If I cared that much about the game I'd own it by now (I've bought over 400 Switch games so it's not like I'm against buying them). Just saying that if it went on sale for, let's say, like 80% off now or something it's a lot less tempting after it was just free everywhere else than it would have been otherwise.
I'm surprised seeing so much hate for this game and the offer, it's a fantastic arcade game and free is the best price!
And I'm guessing a good amount of regular PCs can run this game no problem, if you have no Gaming PC or console other than Switch.
@Dman10 That logic kinda falls appart when they could just offer it as a PS Plus title or add it to PS Now. Same with Xbox and Gamepass.
If it's not on Switch should this news even be on a Nintendo fan site?
@FargusPelagius Lost Reavers is quite possibly the worst game I've ever played in 40 years of gaming. I found it so ridiculously terrible, I couldn't stop laughing as I attempted to play it. It was for that reason that I probably gave it more time than it deserved.
It has to be that. The other versions are older. But they could have given it for Switch anyway, after all it was brutally discounted last week.
I'd like the 4 player game from local movie theatre arcades
More Namco Museums please. Else give em to Hamster!
@GrailUK Totally! The nice thing about the Museum is that they are cheaper per title compared to the Arcade Archive prices. However, we will take what we can get.
Way to rub the salt in, Ryan. 😒
@Toy_Link Did that falling out happen right after Ms. Pac-Man was released on Xbox One, PS4, and PC through the Arcade Game Series?
@MortalKombat2007
For free its worth a try. Its shame they did not give away The original DX version. That game is really fun.
A non-article if there ever was one. Judging by the quantity of comments, the bait obviously worked.
Been playing most of the morning. Great game, would preffered it on the switch but reallly cant complain since it was free. Highly recommend it if you have another place to play!
@MortalKombat2007
At least according to this article from Polygon, they successfully bought the royalty rights to MS. Pac Man from General Computers Corporation:
https://www.polygon.com/2019/9/26/20886032/ms-pac-man-lawsuit-bandai-namco-atgames-rights-royalties
@DrDaisy
I should make a small correction ATgames bought the rights in 2019, but Bandai Namco was already having a feud with the original owners over royalties since about 2015.
@JimmySpades
100%. Personally, I enjoy having options.
@PcTV what I am saying is that Xbox and PS4 gamers buy less games because of those services and are less likely to purchase it. That it is why Namco is giving them away because they can't sell it on those. But folks will buy it on Switch.
Whew...I would have been livid if it went free. I waited years for it to go on sale in the north american eshop, and it never did. I caved in 2 months ago and bought it full price with an eshop card given to me on my birthday. While it would have been nice for everyone else, that would really sting on my part. Haha.
@Dman10 Your conclusion is correct, but your reasoning is debatable. The types of gamers that are most likely to buy a pac man game own a Switch. Playstation / Xbox aren't passing it up because of Plus / Gamepass. They're passing it up because they are more interested in other games.
gets free steam game
@BenAV a bunch of games are free on PS and Xbox that people in here gladly drop $20 or even $60 on. Last year we got Borderlands 2 for free... And that Edith Fitch game...
Silly reasoning. You limit yourself to one console and this is what happens.
@Trajan The circumstances are usually a bit different though.
And there aren't any other system options at the moment. Switch is the only current handheld, which is how I like to play games.
Jokes on them
I'm a Switch owner who owns a PS4, a PC, a 3DS and a PSVita
no discount in the universe can stop me
@BenAV a lot of games and sales didnt come to 3ds and Vita either, so why is this different?
That's pretty neat. I've been playing since the first championship I got on 360. I got 2 already on ps4 and when I saw it was on switch as plus I was ecstatic. Unfortunately the switch version dips slightly when a lot happens on screen. This usually wouldn't be an issue but the game gets fast and you want to hit those corners precise to get the little boost. Has two player though.
@JimmySpades Love both equally. Having a PS4 let's me play the likes of FFXV (Royal version is tops), Tekken, Persona 5 and any others not on the Switch.
@JimmySpades I would agree except my ps4 has seen maybe 10 hours of 2 games since March 2, 2017.
@daveh30 I got it (US) through here:
https://twitter.com/BandaiNamcoUS/status/1253670358604845056?s=19
A bit sad it's not been made available on the switch, it would probably get more play time there, nice that I could add it to my PS4 though.
@popey1980 https://www.dekudeals.com/items/pac-man-championship-edition-2-plus
seems like it was on sale for one week almost 2 years ago. So it was once, but not in a very long time.
@dok5555555 Different sales in different region... Look on Deku Deals UK and it was on sale not so long ago...
@RunGMhx Ahh. Good point, didn't think of that.
This is outrageous.
Added it to my PS4 list because why not but can't say i will ever downloaded it, still free is free and Namco don't have to do this at all.
@Amin_Parker i dont think you have played it... its got nice graphics. And is super fun. Me and the mrs play this game alot together......
@retro_player_77 yeah but it sure wasn’t free was it
This would be a fun game for the Switch too due to the portability and short-burst gameplay. I got the game dirt cheap years ago and had some fun with it.
Meh the classics are better, I'm fine with Namco Museum when it comes to Pac Man. I already got this on PS4, might as well download it on the other platforms as well.
Give it time. They might give out this version a little bit later, too.
@dok5555555 i aimed for physical since I got the physical for cheaper and had Namco museum with it.
The reason why it isn't free on Switch, is because standard edition of this game don't exist on Switch. Only "Plus" version.
I own Gaming PC, Xbox One and PS4 and redeemed it on all 3.
The advantage of having all systems is that you don't miss out on anything.
@DrDaisy No, it was more recent than that PS4/XB1 release.
The story with Ms. Pac-Man is a complicated one. Essentially a 3rd party by the name of General Computer Corporation that was composed of a bunch of talented college kids, started making unofficial add-on boards to remix arcade hits that were becoming stale for their owners.
Their Pac-Man add-on mod, then known as Crazy Otto, became known to Midway which was the company that had the arcade rights to Pac-Man in North America. They were so impressed that they acquired the rights and with the knowledge and input of Namco, had the GCC team modify it into a Pac-Man sequel now known as Ms. Pac-Man.
Later on when it became a huge hit, Namco got annoyed and sued despite being involved in the development process. And the GCC team also sued. Midway was making a fortune off Ms. Pac-Man with videogames, cartoons, toys, and even breakfast cereal. GCC believed they were owed royalties for having created Ms. Pac-Man (And Jr. Pac-Man). A 3 way agreement was ironed out to spell out the rights and GCC was to be paid royalties whenever a copy of Ms. Pac-Man was sold (Namco later bought out Midway's rights).
Through the years, Namco conveniently forgot about GCC and had stopped paying royalties when rereleasing Ms. Pac-Man. Then in the 2000's, GCC reminded Namco of their obligations, which apparently was quite a shock when the old contract was faxed over and Namco discovered they not only hadn't developed Ms. Pac-Man, but they also didn't fully own one of their biggest games.
Namco started to pay royalties which is why we suddenly started to see Ms. Pac-Man skipped over in later Namco Museum collections to avoid paying. It's also why it was the sole paid add-on in Pac-Man Collection on PS3 and 360. It's also likely behind why when Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 + Arcade Game Series was released physically on Xbox One and Playstation 4, Ms. Pac-Man was the only game of the four arcade classics Namco had released digitally in that line to be excluded from the physical version.
Namco apparently was negotiating to buy out GCC a year or so ago when AtGames swooped in and agreed to pay GCC's asking price. Namco sued, but I believe I've read at AtariAge that AtGames was successful in court. So Ms. Pac-Man is now in limbo with neither party wanting to work together. Older digital versions of Ms. Pac-Man continue to be sold, but it could be quite sometime before we see another release of this classic.
Well, all I own is a switch and a MacBook so...guess no pacman door me, I totally payed for CE on 3DS too, would love to play the sequel
I had the first one on 3DS (Pac-Man and Galaga Dimensions) and loved it there. Because of the Coop Mode I got the Switch game on sale for 5€ and really enjoy playing it with my son! It is very challenging for us (he is young and I am bad) - but the game is really well thought up! They didn't just throw in a second player, they also changed a lot of the gameplay to "force" you to interact with each other. You get captured by ghost and the other has a short time to free you and the powerups have to be activated together. You destroy ghosts by squishing them from both sides simultaneously. We love it!
I guess that is one of the downsides of being a Switch owner.😬
@JimmySpades But what if I don't want to own multiple systems to save money?
Just picked this up on the Xbox One, will try it out at some point....
@OorWullie aye I gave it a fair good go, but alas it was piss poor . To think at one point I was actually looking forward to Namco's "mystery" Wii U exclusive free to play game. LoL
@Marxally I gave it a fair go, I put 80 hours in, but it was terrible compared to Namco's other FtP efforts. I spent 300 hours on Ace combat infinity, by far my favourite of Namco's FtP offerings. Would have loved that on Wii U or Switch.
@graysoncharles - You're fine, I have seen your posts before, I didn't read too much negativity. Maybe a little annoyance (which I get), but I didn't see any bad intentions.
Eh, if it’s on Steam I might grab it. Probably won’t waste my precious SSD space installing it though.
I’m phasing out my PS and Xbox consoles and listing all my games on eBay as I transition to PC and Switch only (tired of games not having gyro, to the point I don’t even want the system if it doesn’t offer it). So grabbing there is kinda pointless.
@JaxonH You should buy SSHD Firecuda or something to use for game installs. I have 3.TB Firecude SSHD for games myself designed for extreme writing too. These are way faster than HDD.
@zool Nope. The only downside is to only have one system.
I have all 4, so i can't miss out on anything.
@Ventilator
I have two 4TB Samsung Evo SSD drives and a 2TB NVMe SSD boot drive. Cost me an arm and a leg but, the speed and lack of noise is muah! Perfecto.
I don’t have space for traditional HDDs or hybrid drives anyways. My PC is a mini tower size (but with an RTX 2080 ti and i9 9900k, so it packs serious punch), and I could barely even figure out a way to fit the SSD drives.
@JaxonH That's great and even faster of course.
Your PC is already alot more powerful than next upcoming Next-Gen consoles.
RTX cards have other useful things too for much faster rendering/converting, NVenc etc.
My PC is weaker, but still alot more powerful than the most powerful console today. Xbox One X which i also own.
@Ventilator it was me being sarcastic, although true. Having all four systems seems sad to me 😁
@zool Okay.
The problem with all four, or 5 if Wii U counts is that there is far too much to play.
@Ventilator I've just got a Switch, but am thinking about a PS 5 eventually.
@JimmySpades I'd love to own this game, but buying a whole new system so that I can get it for free seems like more money and hassle than just paying full price to have it on the system I already own. Sorry if you already heard that from like twelve other people.
@zool Yes. I will skip PS5 this time as i mostly played third party games on PS4 anyway. I did complete some exclusives.
Gonna use Gaming PC/Xbox mainly next gen instead + Switch.
All Xbox games is coming to PC anyway so.
Yes, I'd like to play some of the new big open world games on a PS rather than 5 year old ports to the Switch. 😀
@Ventilator
I was against PC for a long time. I was convinced it wouldn't work well as a console experience because my old PC had a lot of issues. But after 3 years of gyro aiming in Switch games, I realized I was never going to touch my PS or Xbox again for the simple fact the games dont have gyro. And I wanted something that could play all the latest games. Figured screw it, if I'm gonna switch to PC, may as well do it proper and get something that smashes. It was pricey, but, I just put it on the CC, paid off a few hundred a month and before ya know it, it was paid. CUK has great prebuilt PCs you can customize when you order.
With Switch + PC, its gyro aiming for every game, handheld and TV play for every game, and with MS putting their games on PC now (Gears 5 on STEAM with free online co-op and gyro aiming is incredible) and even Sony exclusives now coming to PC one way or another (Horizon Zero Dawn, Death Stranding and Persona 5 plays 60fps in the emulator) 99% of games I want are accessible through these 2 platforms.
@zool
Just don't fall for the marketing hype that "new" somehow automatically and necessarily equates to "better". I have a PC that crushes even the Series X, best consumer level CPU and GPU money can buy. This thing makes PS4 games look like Switch games in comparison.
Yet I still prefer many of those "5 year old ports" on Switch over anything else. They key factor is whether or not I've played the game yet. Hybrid freedom adds alot of enjoyment too. And 7th gen games on handheld look amazing so graphics aren't really an issue either.
That said, I recommend a PC if money allows. Free online, better graphics than either PS or Xbox and gyro mapped to every single game. If you're gonna get another platform (and I do recommend at least one other platform) do it right 😁 I have mine hooked up to the TV like a console, set to wake from sleep when I press a button. And an all-in-one keyboard with touch mousepad on the right hand side. One slim piece easy to grab when needed and put in your lap. Take advantage of Witcher 3 in 4k 60fps ultra settings with cross save with Switch for handheld play. Map gyro for crossbow aiming... muah!
@JaxonH thanks for the advice; the last time I played on a pc of sorts was the old Amiga.....back in the day, before getting an N64.
@zool Good old Amiga. Most fun computer ever made except for Commodore 64.
@JaxonH

I started with Commodore 64, Then Amiga and were negative vs PC as it were terrible back then. Bought a PC in 1994 to play Doom among other things, and then 3DFX cards came that blew peoples mind. Since 1995 i always bought the most expensive gaming PC hardware except for the last 5 years.
My current GPU is Asus GTX 1660 Super which is only 5% slower than TI, and not much slower than RTX 2060 either.
1660 Super can run Xbox One X games like Forza Horizon 4 at 90 fps on Ultra, and Gears 5 up to 120 fps.
This means 1660 Super is somewhere between XBX and Next-Gen consoles.
Komplett Norway also build custom PC's for you. There is standard setup, and you swap the parts to what you want.
Everything is hard tested, so PC is guaranteed to be stable even in tropical heat with heavy workload on CPU and GPU.
PC today is better than ever, and there is less problems ever too.
Also. With GeForce Experience and Steam TV Mode + NVIDIA Shield TV, i can stream PC Games on wired Gigabit LAN to TV from PC. Shield TV uses Tegra X1 GPU too, and can stream 4K/60 with no lag from online 4K streams too. Also supports proper Atmos and DTS:X, HDR etc.
Anyways. As you say only Gaming PC + Switch is needed Next-Gen as Sony also starts with 1st party exclusives on PC this summer. PC already got third party PS4 exclusives for years like No Man's Sky, Street Fighter 5, Nier Autotama, Hellblade etc.
All the of the latter were also ported to Xbox One, except for SF 5.
PC is a neutral platform which is great.
Switch is not outdated Next-Gen, because none of the other consoles can play AAA Games on the run.
2K Games is on a Switch spree next month. X-Com 2 Collection, Bioshock Collection and Borderlands Collection. Portable for the first time.
@JimmySpades Not everybody needs or wants another console. Just like many PSers or Xboxers don't want Nintendo, there are Nintendo fans that don't care about them either.
Bottomline: There's no reason for this game not be given free to Switch owners.
@Ventilator
Oh man, I'm so excited for the 2k games on May 29th. I played the heck out of Borderlands 2 on Vita. Even despite the pop in, framerate issues, missing buttons resulting in 2 buttons mapped to touchscreen and 2 mapped to rear touch pad, causing you to need to extend your fingers stiff like a board to intentionally not brush against the backside. And tiny analogs so close to the screen your thumb would brush against it and trigger crouch or a grenade throw in a room that would kill yourself.
Getting a proper, console version of Borderlands 2 with a full button set AND GYRO, AND FREAKING GYRO, is killer. And as if that wasn't enough, toss in Borderlands Remastered and PreSequel too. Wow.
Bioshock on Vita was always the dream but never materialized. I hope it has gyro. And XCOM 2... wow. Never thought that game would actually come. And we're getting Xenoblade Chronicles the same day, finally a proper version, and it's one of my favorite JRPGs of all time. At least, Xenoblade X was, and from what I played of the first it's just as good if not better.
PC is a must. Gyro on every game is a must. Idk how people play on PS and Xbox without it. Dual analog without gyro is dated, a barbarous relic of the past that's about as accurate as using dual D-pads. The only reason its tolerated is because games are deprived on other platforms so the userbase doesnt understand what they're missing. But on PC, it's possible. Steam Controller is so amazing. A feat of technology and one of the finest controllers ever invented. Admittedly not the best for fighters or platformers but aside from that, it's downright exceptional.
Never dreamed PC in the living room could be so painless. Navigate desktop with controller and jump right into Steam Big Picture Mode. My only complaint is the oddball game that is still designed around keyboard and mouse without proper controller support despite console releases (Divinity Original Sin 2, Pillars of Eternity 2). You can still play reasonably well with Steam Controller but, it would be better if the console controls were patched in.
@JaxonH 2K Games and Bethesda always ignored Nintendo, and on Switch they are almost the only 2 big publishers with high focus.
It's the portability power for sure.
Borderlands on VITA were a bit tedious because of analogue sticks and 2 missing shoulder buttons.
This time it's properly done with a screen twice the size of VITA.
I have VITA on shelve here, so i just checked.
Borderlands on NVIDIA Shield TV runs on same GPU as Switch, but will run better on Switch as Android is a bottleneck even with Vulkan API, but i'm unsure if Borderlands used it.
Since Switch sold over 50 millions somewhere, it also attract alot more games.
I'm still using Gamepad myself, and some of the best control innovations is in a Xbox 360 exclusive because of Kinect.
You used Gamepad, but also motion controls with Kinect.
Sounds annoying, but worked well as soon as you got the gang of using 2 controllers. Most people disliked it's controls because they never figured ut out even with tutorial.. Weird.
Switch is great as it's optional, but Microsoft and Sony is done with motion controls as that market died for them this gen.
Those will be stuck with Gamepads.
I haven't had much problems with PC the last 10 years atleast, but today i never see much problems with games. It just works.
The reason why Gamepad became a standard for loads of games, is because Microsoft released a Xbox 360 driver in 2007 for Windows. Since then more and more supported Gamepad.
Many PC games is best played with gamepad now as they are typical console games. There is still people using keyboard and mouse, complaining that controls is bad. Well. Developers highly recommend gamepad on those games for tight control.
There will always be those that just refuses to even touch a Gamepad. It's Keyboard + mouse, or nothing.
@Ventilator
My brother gave me an Nvidia Shield TV for Christmas a few years ago. Never used it so I boxed it up, but I only play on one TV. I do plan to keep it just in case though, along with Steam Link.
@JaxonH I own hardware Steam Link too, but there is also a official Steam Link app for Shield TV that replaces the Steam Link.
Shield TV itself is still the most powerful media box on the planet.
You are probably using old firmware, but still gets new ones as of 2020. Supports Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, 4K + HDR, Windows LAN and far more since back then.
I think firmware natively even supports Switch Pro Gamepad now.
@Ventilator
So is there anything it brings to the table I could use, if I'm not streaming to another TV? My brother swears by its virtues like you, but he streams into different rooms of his house.
Also hear it's a good emulator but, so is PC. And I've got a great PC that can run Wii U, Gamecube, Wii, PSP, PS2, PS3 and even 360 games. So I tend to just use that.
@JaxonH Doesen't look like you have much use for it for now, but i would still update it to newest firmware. Your brother probably told you most already about it.
I use Shield TV mainly for 4K streaming, and my second Shield TV is for emulation etc.
@MortalKombat2007
"Nopee, Switch version is getting a special sale..a 20% price hike for limited time. Buy it if you want a few extra gold coin."
