Re: Random: Sakurai Sends Fans Into Meltdown Ahead Of Switch Direct

Not_Soos

Nintendo doesn't like to deliberately tease announcements. Sakurai may be a powerful figure at Nintento, but I think even he would get chastised if he was dropping a hint to get people into a frenzy. I think this could be Sakurai just as surprised as the rest of us to see a Nintendo Direct this close to the Switch 2 one. I'm not gonna read too deep into it, I'm interpreting this as like, "Huh, that's curious."

That's not to say I don't think there's a chance we could see Kid Icarus tomorrow. But if we do, Sakurai's tweet is unrelated. If anything, his tweet might make it less likely, because he would probably know if his game was going to be in a Direct, meaning he would know not to tease anything. If Nintendo told him, "Hey, we have a Nintendo Direct coming up that we're going to feature your game in," they would probably want him to stay radio silent about it beforehand.

Edit: I think this aged pretty well.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Melee Player Abdulaziz "Hax$" Al-Yami Has Died

Not_Soos

I'm don't follow competitive gaming, so I'm not familiar with this individual, but this is immensely sad to hear.

He's not the only Smash player to attempt suicide, but fortunately ZeRo's attempt failed as well. He's now in the best physical and mental shape of his life, and I'm so happy to see his personal growth.

As @Altaria_97 said, things can and will get better. I know that sounds cliché, but I can attest that this is indeed true. I never seriously considered self-harm, mostly due to my religious beliefs and never wanting to put my family through that kind of hurt. But I did experience bouts of suicidal ideation. I didn't want to die, but I didn't want to be alive, either. Every day felt like a waking nightmare, living with undiagnosed OCD and intrusive thoughts.

I spent about a year in virtual therapy with an OCD specialist during the pandemic and had ups and downs in recovery. When I eventually hit a brick wall and wasn't getting any better, I reluctantly took medication, despite being scared of potential side effects. Taking SSRI was a life-changer, and I can honestly say the struggles I used to go through feel mostly like a distant memory. These past three years are the happiest I've been in a long time, after probably about 8 years of what felt like a living hell.

I used to experience maybe one day of relief every two weeks, and those two weeks were like a nightmare. Now, the opposite is true; I have the occasional bad day, which is just a natural part of life, but I'd say 90% of the time I have good days. And the bad days aren't nearly as bad as they used to be.

Help is available. Don't be afraid to reach out and open up to a credible therapist. Unless you explicitly tell them you have a plan to hurt somebody, it is illegal for them to relay the information you confide in them to ANYONE. Be aware of red flags when finding a therapist, though--every therapist's end goal should be for you to eventually no longer need their services. If your start feeling like you can't cope without your therapist, something is wrong; they shouldn't become a crutch, and they might be making you dependent so they can keep taking your money.

You may feel worthless now, but I promise that you would be even more worthless if you were dead. You think your family will be better off without you? Consider the funeral expenses, the emotional trauma of friends and parents and kids and other loved ones. Not to mention the lifelong scarring of whoever finds you.

But as long as there is breath in your lungs, you have an opportunity to do good things in this world. When you get better, you'll be able to help so many other people overcome their own struggles with depression and anxiety. You can be a volunteer, you can donate to charity--there's lots of worthwhile things you can do while you're alive.

You aren't worthless. And regardless of what today's cancel culture society will teach you, I believe that no human being is beyond redemption. The mistakes you've made in the past are irrelevant if you're genuinely striving to be a better person. Forgive yourself.

Religion can be a great source of comfort; if not for my Christian faith, I might not be here. But if you need to seek worldly help from a mental health professional, that doesn't mean your faith is weak. Take advantage of all the opportunities God gives you--including seeking medicinal aid.

Much love. God bless. ❤️

Re: Pac-Man DLC Launches For Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble Alongside Version 2.20 Update

Not_Soos

Okay okay, this is my last comment, I swear! I promise to stop spamming the comments!

But now that I've actually watched the trailer, I see that he doesn't make the "waka-waka" noise when he eats the pellets. His model also looks a little off to me. Like, the mouth is too wide and the proportions of his limbs seem a bit weird. Hopefully this is early footage subject to change. If not... my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

(Edit: Nvm, it's out now, so probably final. Downloading it right now to make sure.)

...Y'know, I never really thought I was on the spectrum before now, but this 30-second footage of yellow munchy man has floored me to such an unhealthy degree I'm beginning to question it. 😆

Re: Pac-Man DLC Launches For Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble Alongside Version 2.20 Update

Not_Soos

I'm only just now learning there was a Dole promotion so I didn't get to experience it, but that's fun. Would've made more sense to have happened a few years ago when Banana Mania was new, though.

Anyways, here's to getting all my hopes up for Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac being announced in one of the two upcoming Nintendo Directs! If it doesn't happen, I'm going to have an emotional episode.

Re: New Nintendo Patent Is All About 2D Visuals, But Don't Jump To Any Remake Conclusions

Not_Soos

@Durians

I understand where you're coming from. For me personally, there are a lot of remakes that I would 100% consider the definitive versions. As a big 3D platformer buff, I think the Crash N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Pac-Man World Re-Pac are fundamentally perfect. SpongeBob: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated had its flaws, and many say they prefer the 2003 original, but I would have a very hard time going back to the older graphics. The remake is just such a beautiful visual overhaul, and they did fix most of the kinks via patches.

Thousand-Year Door fixes some things, but they censored parts of the localization, text scrolls slower, and even the battles feel slower. I probably do still prefer the GameCube version. So, it can definitely go either way, but there are plenty of remakes I do love.

That said, I think it's always good to preserve the originals. I grew up with the PS1 Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, so as good and as faithful as the remake is, it would be nice if I had a way to revisit the 90's classics on modern hardware for nostalgia sake. Throw all three games on the eShop for $20 a pop, and I'd buy it. I like having both options. But admittedly, if I can play the original version on my Switch or Switch 2, then I feel like there's less need for a remake.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a waste of development time, though, depending on what it is. For example, if we were to get GameCube games on NSO, I still think a ground-up remake of Twilight Princess and the original Luigi's Mansion could look absolutely breathtaking with the extra horsepower of Switch 2.

In the case of Paper Mario or even Crash Bandicoot, remakes also give companies the opportunity to re-learn a working formula they abandoned a decade or two ago. Would Crash 4 be as good as it was if ActiVision hadn't first copied the Naughty Dog originals? I doubt it. Aonuma talked about how remaking Wind Waker influenced the development of Breath of the Wild. And now that TTYD has been remade, I bet we'll finally get a new Paper Mario game that feels like the originals in the next couple years.

There's an argument to be made that remakes are lazy efforts. But, I think they can also be an important learning tool. Like, "Our games have been sucking for the past 20 years, what was it about the old ones that made them so special?" Then you remake the old ones and say, "Oh, now I get what the fans were saying. We were doing the physics engine all wrong. The level design wasn't this intuitive. This narrative is way more enjoyable." Then, they can apply that knowledge moving forward.

Re: Random: Not Even Horror Maestro Stephen King Can Crack A Good Pokémon Joke

Not_Soos

@TimelessJubilee

Yeah, I was really disturbed when I found out about that. I try not to make assumptions about people, but King gives major creep vibes. I wouldn't be surprised if some really bad stuff comes out about him. He's also very inflammatory and divisive when it comes to politics, so I'm no fan of his all-around. It's fine to have your opinions, I just hate when people generalize and demonize an entire group of people.

I'm not a horror expert, but as an outsider, the genre feels very problematic to me. Some of the stuff I frankly question how it gets legally published/produced for the way it depicts minors. Not just that part in the "It" book you reference, but I also think to that one particular scene in "The Exorcist" involving Regan, who is only like 12 or 13. I had to read that book in college and was appalled. In some ways, the movie takes it even further.

I get that horror movies are supposed to make you feel uncomfortable and often go for "shock value," but some things are shocking/uncomfortable for a reason and better left alone. It's sick. Everyone should feel disgusted by the abuse of children; it doesn't make you a "good" writer for being willing to go there, and it's not the sort of thing we should let ourselves become desensitized to through the consumption of entertainment. There's nothing entertaining about that.

It's one thing if it's done to raise awareness with the aim of preventing exploitation, but it's another thing entirely when the author is like, "Hey, wouldn't this be fun to include? They'll never see this one coming!"

Re: After Copying Smash's Homework, MultiVersus Publisher Was Apparently Turning To Mario Kart Next

Not_Soos

Dang, I would have loved this--if handled properly. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl and Nickelodeon Kart Racers are fun alternatives to Mario Kart and Smash Bros. utilizing other IP that I enjoy. I would have wanted this game and MultiVersus to primarily focus on Cartoon Network properties. I want to race down the cul de sac from Ed Edd n' Eddy as Grim from Billy & Mandy, while Chowder and Blooregard Q. Kazoo try to snipe me with King Ramses' slab from Courage the Cowardly Dog.

Re: New Nintendo Patent Is All About 2D Visuals, But Don't Jump To Any Remake Conclusions

Not_Soos

@Durians

With movie remakes--like, let's say, all of Disney's live-action movies, the original animated features are readily accessible on streaming services like Disney+. Remakes of video games are exciting to me because it may be the only way to officially experience a classic on modern hardware. When it comes to people asking for remakes of games already on Switch like the 2D Metroid games, I agree with you, though.

Another thing is that the live-action Disney movies fail to capture the heart and soul of the originals and, frankly, look worse. Sometimes, HD remakes of games come out and they're worse than the original, and people say they would have preferred a straight port. But more often than not, remakes are the definitive version that look significantly better and add several quality-of-life improvements.

Lastly, video game technology isn't all that old, so the hardware ages much more quickly. A video game from the 1980's doesn't do much to visually impress by today's standards with its 8-bit graphics, 4:3 aspect ratio, and chiptune music. But an 80's movie in comparison, like The Little Mermaid, still looks really good. That said, if a studio were to take the time to digitally trace every frame of The Little Mermaid by hand and implement modern lighting/shading techniques and other VFX, I think people would love that.

Re: Talking Point: Will Metroid Prime 4 Get A Switch 2 Release?

Not_Soos

I just don't see the point of doing two separate SKU's, especially since Switch 2 is backwards-compatible and can possibly even upscale Switch 1 games. Metroid has never been a franchise that sells super well to begin with, so I imagine one version will gather dust on store shelves. If the Switch 2 is easy to get your hands on at launch, then I could see the Switch 2 copies selling pretty well but retailers having a hard time getting rid of the Switch 1 copies. If the Switch 2 is hard to come by at launch, then the opposite could be true; by the time people get their hands on the new console, they may have already bought the last-gen version of Prime 4 and not feel inclined to double-dip.

For Breath of the Wild, a multiplatform release was understandable, since Switch was not backwards-compatible. For Twilight Princess, it made less sense to release on both, but I suppose they had already promised GameCube owners that the game was coming but still wanted to take advantage of the Wii's new motion controls.

In this case, we know for certain Prime 4 is at least coming to the OG Nintendo Switch; otherwise, that last Direct was very misleading. I kinda hope Prime 4's place in the Switch 2 Direct is just to show how much better the game looks when upscaled and not that it will be a separate release. I don't want the Switch 2 launch game to be something I can also play on my current-gen Switch. That would really dissuade me from picking the console up day one, unless they have another compelling game at launch.

Re: Switch 2 GameCube Controller Rumours Resurface Following New Nintendo Filing

Not_Soos

I think I would legit cry tears of joy if Nintendo confirms GameCube games for NSO. I think it will happen eventually, but right now just feels too soon, though.

We've gotten lots of GameCube remakes this generation like Thousand-Year Door, Metroid Prime, and (to a lesser extent) Pikmin 1 and 2. I think there's still room for more remakes. Imagine how gorgeous remakes of Chibi-Robo, the original Luigi's Mansion, and Twilight Princess could look--especially with the added horsepower of Switch 2 for added realism. I would also much rather have the HD port of Wind Waker with quality of life improvements as opposed to the GameCube original. Then there's Metroid Prime 2, and I know some people have been wanting an HD remake of F-Zero GX.

I think Nintendo should get those remakes out of the way first so they aren't competing with themselves in terms of sales. Granted, they could do what they've done with Super Mario RPG and Mario vs Donkey Kong and just withhold releasing those games on NSO so you can only buy the full-priced remakes, but I get why that practice might feel scummy for some people.

Once they've remade all those games, then they can add GameCube to the NSO library with stuff they would never bother to remaster like Melee, Double-Dash, Mario Party 4-7, Wario Ware: Mega Party Games, Wario World, Kirby Air Ride, Four Swords Adventures, Star Fox Adventure, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (wireless bongo peripheral??) etc. It would be great to have emulated versions of all those games with added online functionality.

Re: Switch 2 GameCube Controller Rumours Resurface Following New Nintendo Filing

Not_Soos

@Sylamp They've been rolling out a new console library for NSO every couple of years. If we get, say, GameCube games this year and DS games two years from now, that would mean Wii games coming out four years from now (2029) and 3DS games coming out six years from now (2031). That would be 20 years after the 3DS initially released and 23 years after the Wii first released. I think that's plenty of time for them to be considered "retro" consoles.

It's also far enough away that Nintendo has plenty of time to remake/remaster games like Kid Icarus Uprising, Mario 3D Land, Link Between Worlds, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Triple Deluxe, Planet Robobot, etc. before offering the original version of those games to us again via NSO.

I mean, people auction off unique Cheeto's shapes for more than this, so nothing surprises me anymore.

(Edit: @WhiteTrashGuy just barely beat me to it, lol. I was specifically thinking of the Pokémon one, too, but there are plenty of other examples.)

Here's hoping my YouTube channel takes off, so I can get sent stuff like this from companies that I can auction off for a bajillion dollars.

Re: Rumour: Xbox Expected To Join Switch 2 With A New Handheld This Year

Not_Soos

I mean... if Microsoft is still planning to bring their Xbox IP to Switch 2 anyways, I feel no incentive to buy this. I never got a Steam Deck or a PS Portal, so unless this thing is able to launch Steam and give you access to that whole library as well as compatability with PlayStation cloud streaming, this is a hard pass for me. Will still be neat to see the last of the "big three" finally release their own handheld, but I think the window of opportunity for such a system is long passed.

As a consumer, I really appreciate Microsoft's willingness to go multiplatform with all their properties. Cuphead on Switch felt like such an unrealistic pipe dream and is still one of the most hype Switch moments for me personally. I'm grateful to them for what they've been doing. But from a business perspective, it seems like they're just shooting themselves in the foot if they want to remain in the console race.

Re: Analyst Fears U.S. Tariffs Could Spell Disaster For Physical Games

Not_Soos

@Edwirichuu Why try to force people into a compact box? Does it make you feel better to view the world through a black-and-white lense? Life is a lot more complicated than that. We all have our own subjective lived experiences, and people think the way they do for a myriad of reasons. This notion of "if you're not 100% with me, you're against me" is part of why Democrats lost this election. Me being an independent means you have an opportunity to win me back and get me to vote for your candidate next time. So far, you're not making me feel particularly welcome, though. You'd think the party who calls everyone else a cult would welcome people with an open mind who don't blindly adhere 100% to any singular party or person. 🤷‍♂️

Re: Analyst Fears U.S. Tariffs Could Spell Disaster For Physical Games

@ChakraStomps

I don't really understand the term "neocon," can you break it down for me? I know the "con" is short for "Conservatives" and it's meant in a derogatory way. What makes it different from the term "RINO," or are they pretty much synonomous?

Personally, I've never liked Tucker Carlson. I think he's the Right-wing equivalent of Don Lemon, and I was glad to see their respective networks let them go at the same time.

Re: Analyst Fears U.S. Tariffs Could Spell Disaster For Physical Games

Not_Soos

I voted for Trump. I'm happy with what he's already accomplished domestically in just the past month. Slowed illegal border traffic. Uncovered loads of government waste. Empowering women in sports. Media transparency and opening up press conferences to the broader public. Ensuring that a white guy like me from the underprivileged region of Appalachia still has a fair shot at landing a decent job and getting a good education. I'm hopeful that RFK will be able to get the harmful dyes and chemicals out of our food that are banned in virtually every other country; this should be a bi-partisan agreement.

Internationally, I have my concerns. I'm no economist--I'm not gonna pretend like I understand the complexities of tariffs. I don't want to see burned bridges with our allies, but at the same time, I do think the previous administration projected an heir of weakness that enabled other countries to take advantage of us. It's a fine balance of being firm yet gentle to be respected on a global scale.

I want the war in Ukraine to end and the bloodshed to stop. Same with Gaza. I think some of Trump's comments toward Zelensky were out of line, but at the same time, we seem to be on the verge of a peace agreement. If the election had gone a different way, I imagine this war would have dragged on for much, much longer with countless more Ukranian lives lost and billions more in government spending.

Hardly any of these comments have been deleted, so I hope mine will stay despite having a dissenting opinion. (Combatting censorship was another major reason I voted for Trump, by the way.) I'm not trying to argue or pick fights with anybody. Everybody is entitled to their opinion.

If we don't have an open dialogue, things will never change, and we remain divided forever. So, for the sake of unity, I hope Nintendo Life won't delete this. Yes, I voted MAGA; if you think that makes me a horrible person, you're free to block me, but I think that's counter-intuitive. Before you do, here's some things you need to understand about me:

If you voted for Kamala, I love you and am glad you exercised your democratic right. If you're trans, I empathize with your struggles and don't want to be your enemy; I have crippling OCD, so I take mental health very seriously. If you're black, your life matters to me. If you're gay, I won't lie to you that I believe in traditional marriage because of my religious beliefs, but I have no desire to see legislation passed that infringes on your right to marry because that's ultimately your prerogative. If you're Hispanic, I hope we're able to streamline the immigration process but without compromising on security, so you and your family can live the American dream more quickly.

I wasn't a fan of Kamala, but one thing she echoed constantly throughout the campaign trail is that the American people have more things in common than what separates us. I agree with her on that, but you wouldn't know it thanks to internet echo chambers that only elevate one opinion. This is why dialogue is SO important, and I think it's evident I'm not trying to be provocative, so I'll be really disappointed if Nintendo Life deletes this comment when most of the others still stand. I'm begging you to please not delete this.

God bless, everybody. ❤️

Ooh, color me interested! This would almost perfectly mirror Sega's handling of Super Monkey Ball on Switch. A remake of one game, a remake of a much better game, and finally, a stellar brand-new game.

I guess you could say both companies... really got the ball rolling.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Removal Of Switch Online SNES Game

Not_Soos

I get why people are upset about this, and I agree it sets a bad precedent. But personally, I only really care about the first-party games on the service and don't anticipate those going anywhere. The only ones that would be a major loss are the Rareware games, but I think the only reason Microsoft would pull those would be if they were to put out their own collection that you can purchase from the eShop and actually own outright.

So, I'm not too phased by it, but it is still disappointing to see. It makes the trickle feed all the more frustrating though. Now I'm going to be extra upset when our monthly game is third-party, because you made us wait all this time for a game that might only be temporary.

Re: Gex Trilogy Confirms Summer 2025 Switch Release, Here's The Official Trailer

Not_Soos

Isn't it weird how long it's taken for these 90's rereleases to come out? Glover only just released, and it was announced YEARS ago. Croc mysteriously got delayed at the last minute, supposedly coming in Q1, but time is running out; I've seen other listings saying Q2. Gex was announced a pretty good while ago and is still several months out. There's also a Bubsy collection we haven't heard anything about since it was announced.

The announcement-to-release window for these B-tier (or, in Bubsy's case, C or D-tier) platformers should probably be a lot shorter.

Looking forward to playing them all for the first time, though. I grew up on games like Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, so I have a real soft spot for the less-popular platformers of the 90's and early 2000's.

Re: Tetris Forever Adds Two More Classic Games In Its "Biggest-Ever" Update

Not_Soos

I wish I cared more about this game. I think it's really neat for the sake of video game preservation, and it's awesome the game regularly gets free updates with entire new GAMES added! But, I already have Tetris 99, The Tetris Effect, and Puyo Puyo Tetris on my Switch, so I don't really feel compelled to buy this. I understand there's an N64 version of Tetris from a top-down, 3D perspective; now, that's an interesting twist that might would get me to buy this game if it was ever added in the future.

Re: Mario + Rabbids Director Recalls "Fantastic" Time With Nintendo, Would Be Open To Collab Again

Not_Soos

I don't think Nintendo works that way. If you want to work with them, you need to be the one knocking on their door. The only exception to this might be reaching out to third-parties when it comes to Smash Bros. But otherwise, they aren't going to go out of their way to ask other companies if they'd like to collab. Outsiders make pitches to Nintendo, not the other way around.

Re: Warner Bros. Closes Three Studios Including Team Behind Smash-Like Brawler 'MultiVersus'

Not_Soos

MultiVersus is a game I always wanted to play but just never really got around to it, because 1) I was waiting for a Switch port, and 2) I was waiting for the game to actually feel complete with a sizeable roster that wasn't filled with throw-away picks like LeBron James and a random Banana Guard from Adventure Time. I don't really care about comic book heroes, I just wanted to see more 90's-2000's Cartoon Network representation.

I recently did a podcast episode on my channel where I discussed the wasted potential of MultiVersus, and this is one of my favorite video thumbnails I've made so far, lol.

Re: Talking Point: Can Nintendo Keep Up The One-Game-A-Month Release Pace On Switch 2?

Not_Soos

@Oldstalk Honestly, I hope you're right about that. I've been increasingly doubtful the Switch 2 will launch with a 3D Mario, but I think it needs a massive single player experience that showcases the system's raw graphical power like Breath of the Wild was for Switch 1. It's a game that will resonate with the core audience looking to get the new system on day 1, while Mario Kart can wait till the holidays when more casual audiences will be picking up the system.

Re: Talking Point: Can Nintendo Keep Up The One-Game-A-Month Release Pace On Switch 2?

Not_Soos

I've predicted this a couple times before, but what I think will happen is that we'll get a new first-party Switch 2 game every other month due to the extra challenge of 4k game development. HOWEVER, I don't think this will be a big deal, because Nintendo will supplement us with a first-party Switch 1 game during those in-between months.

Given the massive install base of Switch 1, I think it makes sense Nintendo will continue to develop Switch 1 games for the foreseeable future. Some people will still be upset about this, but they really shouldn't, because it's not like the 2017-2019 3DS situation; any future games that come to Switch 1 will still be playable on Switch 2 and may even have graphical/performance upgrades. So it's a non-issue.

I see the first year of Switch 2 going something like this:

First month - New Mario Kart (Switch 2 exclusive)
Second month - Metroid Prime 4 (Switch 1)
Third month - New 3D Mario (Switch 2 exclusive)
Fourth month - New Mario Baseball (Switch 1)
Fifth month - New Splatoon (Switch 2 exclusive)
Sixth month - Wind Waker HD (Switch 1)

This is just an example; I'm not predicting we get these exact games in the corresponding months. But this is just to give an idea of the alternating pattern I think Nintendo could do for at least the first couple years of the Switch 2's life. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Especially since that would mean Nintendo is still making $60 games alongside Switch 2 games that will almost certainly retail for $70.

I could see us getting a new $60 Wario Land game or maybe a Chibi-Robo remake during one of those off-months for Switch 1. Maybe even Punch-Out or F-Zero. More niche titles on a smaller budget while the Switch 2 gets most of the heavy-hitters.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd February)

Not_Soos

Well, it's still Kirby Month over on my YouTube channel. I'm almost finished with Kirby Superstar, I just need to complete The Arena, and then I'll be moving on to Kirby 64.

Here's the link to the first episode of Kirby Super Star, for those interested: https://youtu.be/PNHjaBCGo5k?si=9WtL7Eg1myQjU44I

I mentioned this in the other article, but I had no idea this month was HAL's 45th anniversary, so that's a fun little coincidence!

By the way, I also started doing a weekly podcast on my channel called the "Pictochat Podcast," and I drew up a logo for it in Adobe Illustrator that I thought was cute. What do you think??

Re: Talking Point: The 3DS Library Is Ripe For Switch 2, But Is NSO The Way To Go?

Not_Soos

If 3DS ever comes to NSO, it won't be for several more years. I think DS is likely to come this year, since DS games were already on Wii U Virtual Console, so Nintendo should have no problem emulating them.

It's been two years since the last new systems (GB and GBA) were added, so if we get DS this year, that would probably mean the next platform is added in 2027. That would give them plenty of time to remaster the last handful of worthwhile GameCube games (Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 2, maybe a ground-up Luigi's Mansion remake on Switch 2 and a Chibi-Robo 1&2 remake) and then after we've all bought those, then they'll add GameCube to the service in 2027.

Then, if we're lucky, we'll get Wii added to the service in 2029 (after they've already charged us for Super Mario Galaxy 2 HD, Kirby's Epic Yarn HD, Metroid Prime 3 HD, and Nintendo Switch Sports 2).

Finally, we'll get 3DS in the year 2031, but at this point we'll have already bought Kid Icarus Uprising HD, Kirby Triple Deluxe + Planet Robobot HD, Link Between Worlds HD, and remakes of Fire Emblem Awakening, Fates, and Echoes.

Oh, and then in 2033, we'll get Wii U on NSO, but after Nintendo already re-released Yoshi's Woolly World

That'll lead us into 2035, by which point the Switch 3 will have launched. Unfortunately, the Switch 3 won't be backwards compatible with Switch 2 or Switch 1. But we'll have the option to emulate Nintendo Switch games on Nintendo Switch 3 via Nintendo Switch Online. And we can emulate Nintendo Switch 2 games on Nintendo Switch 3 via the Nintendo Switch Online Nintendo Switch Online Online Expansion Pass Online for the Nintendo Switch 3 Online Plus Expansion Pass Pass for the Nintendo Switch 2 family of systems systems.
