Huh... A rare slip-up with the development team’s attention to detail. Regardless the ARMS content is amazing in Smash and it’s a shame that it’s kind of being overshadowed by the horrifying revelations in the competitive scene.
I’m just curious because I was eyeing up a certain hardware edition, but is the New 2DS XL discontinued? It’s sold out everywhere and all I can find is inflated price tags on Game. It could be the whole corona situation, but does anyone have any information on this?
It’s nice to see the NES ports of Namco’s arcade history be preserved on modern consoles. The arcade versions are better experiences today, but these are still those addictive high score based romps we know and love at their core.
Crash games sell like gangbusters on Switch. Remember when the N-Sane Trilogy was at the top of the UK charts for over a month when it released on Switch in 2018? If Activision enjoys revenue, they will have commissioned a Switch version instantly.
I looked on the FIFA 21 website and the Switch version is a legacy edition again! Updated kits, rosters and menus, but no gameplay innovations. Absolutely scandalous on EA’s part. If they put actual effort into creating a quality Switch version with feature parity with the other platforms their financial returns would be fantastic. Apex coming is neat, but this is further evidence of exactly what EA really thinks about Switch owners.
I’m of the opinion that Wii Party U is one of the most underrated games Nintendo has released in the past decade. It was so charming, fun, had loads of clever and replayable modes and content and actually used asymmetrical multiplayer, unbeknownst to many. What many prejudiced as a generic party game in an endless sea of them on Wii U was legitimately fantastic.
This and the original are proof that even before Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics/51 Worldwide Games, NDcube can produce quality titles and that perhaps they’re at their best when not tied down to the preconceived expectations that come with taking the reins of an already established series (Mario Party) and creating something original or expanding a franchise without many sequels.
I miss the Wii series of games so much and despite there being a Mii Maker on Switch, Mii integration is shockingly underutilised considering their iconicity and the avatar creator itself is tucked away in the System Settings and lacking the infamous music (A lack of compositions is an ongoing theme on Switch, eh?) Clubhouse Games has scratched that casual Nintendo itch that such previous offerings have failed to. Seriously, I still return to Wii Party and U with friends every now and again and it’s so much fun. I recommend it if you haven’t, it’s relatively cheap to purchase.
What a fun idea. Love the references to other Pac-Man games and I’m sure the creativity within the gargantuan community of Minecraft players will shine through with maze creation.
GTA V is absolutely possible on Nintendo Switch. I mean, some forget it was a last-gen release on Xbox 360 and PS3 before Rockstar brought the game over to PS4 and Xbox One a little later. They could either adapt and scale the current-gen version down or enhance and build upon the 360 version. I don’t think V should be ruled out as often as it is sometimes; however it's just a matter of whether Rockstar wants to port the game to the Switch. They’d see exceptional success and take a considerable amount of wind out of Saints Row’s sales on Switch with it being the best alternative we’ve received on the platform.
I really hope GungHo have been able to fix the numerous issues that plagued the previous online demo because the game seemed to be a fun experience from the solitary match I was able to enter. The concept of using different types of gum as abilities is interesting and the Splatoon influences are evident here.
God, imagine this medical professional making house calls while the Dolphin Shoals music blares from his vehicle of choice, the Medicinal Submarine. Can’t that be a game for Mario’s 35th anniversary?
I’m legitimately really excited for this. Perfect to play with the family and I love how the era of casual Nintendo developed titles in the vein of the Wii series can return in some form and co-exist alongside Nintendo’s more “hardcore” offerings. Still baffling that Bowling only supports a maximum of 2 players, a bit disappointed about that.
@PickledKong64 Curse of the Moon was absolutely brilliant, especially considering it was a stretch goal for Ritual of the Night. I liked Ritual of the Night but the performance issues that plagued the Switch version at launch left a lot to be desired for me. While both of these channelled the spirit of Castlevania brilliantly, I’d love to see the original series make a comeback regardless.
I hope they resurrect the Castlevania series on Switch with a Metroidvania title or even a classic side-scroller. However if Contra Rogue Corps is anything to go by it may unfortunately be better off for Konami to leave the legendary legacy of the Belmont clan in the coffin and just release Symphony of the Night on the console, no pachinko machines included.
Nintendo surely has something planned for this feature; perhaps Clubhouse Games/51 Worldwide Games will allow you to invite friends and family to an intense game of mini shogi.
@Mato Filipovic I recommend it, it basically compiles all of the best microgames from the series, some new ones and a story mode where Wario and his friends are fully voiced. It’s great.
Looking at the ESRB rating, you can attack with poles, chairs, exploding barrels and falling cars. There are also matches involving climbing an electrified cage to grab bags of cash and there are also custom characters, taunts and in game purchases in Battlegrounds too...
Comforting to know that beat-em-ups in classic fashion are able to co-exist alongside more complex modern titles. I love the Streets of Rage trilogy on the Mega Drive and I can’t wait to experience 4.
Amazing how Animal Crossing is so popular, Tom Nook’s fraudulent schemes are deemed serious enough to land on the front page of the most well-known financial publication. Crazy.
Really excited for this. I’d love to learn how to play some beloved games from overseas that I’m not particularly familiar with and have a blast with some old favourites of mine. Really gives me Wii Play vibes, and that isn’t a bad thing at all.
I hope this all culminates in an epic ‘Endgame’ like scenario where Sonic and all his friends throughout the movies have to discover the real superpower of teamwork to stop Eggman from building an Interstellar Amusement Park and controlling the universe and the final battle should feature a Live and Learn/Gangster’s Paradise mash-up.
Oh yeah, one of EA’s greatest hits is FIFA 20 Legacy Edition for Nintendo Switch: And if you want to know my opinion on such a hit, just glance over at the retina burning design on the packaging.
I still don’t understand why they did this, besides pure laziness. The Switch isn’t a “legacy platform” like Xbox 360 and PS3 were from 2016 onwards, and even then I didn’t agree with their treatment of those still playing on those consoles. Switch is the most successful and beloved platform right now for good reason, and EA should actually place effort into creating a FIFA game that isn’t threadbare with modes and features, one that doesn’t just recycle last-gen assets and an experience that matches the authenticity in the gameplay department of Xbox One and PS4. I know the system isn’t as powerful as those consoles, but look at NBA 2K on the Switch.
Say what you please about scummy business practices, but in terms of pure content and gameplay, the Switch version looks shockingly similar and isn’t missing a single scrap of content; just a halved framerate. EA would receive exceptional returns on their efforts, if there actually was an effort. But it would almost be strange now with two sub-par outings, a legacy edition and then actually creating a quality version on the platform on the fourth attempt. EA should carefully look at the Switch versions and find out that the reason they aren’t financially successful, is because they don’t convey quality when you see them and actually attempt to create a FIFA game which isn’t missing any features (and yes EA, Switch owners have the incredible capacity to handle those modes). They literally have no excuse to logically explain any of said shortcomings: it is unacceptable.
Well that terrified me for a second, there are still some great virtual console and downloadable games I need to pick up. But it’s alright for now; it’s not ideal for those in Latin American and Caribbean nations who use these eShops though.
The style just looks strange/creepy and I can’t put my finger on why. But hey, if this is on Switch, it should perform better that WWE 2K18, giving it the prestigious honour of the most technically stable game on the platform based on the wrestling organisation, so there’s that, I suppose.
Looking forward to the remake, and the contents of these collectors editions appear quality; the fact they produced these (and the remake being created in general) is proof that the developers understand the fondness and appreciation fans have for what is often initially perceived to be another mediocre licensed game. But I’m passing on these. The items included aren’t necessary for me. If THQ Nordic asked me to buy one of them, I’d run off after saying (in the words of the sponge) : “I think I have fudge in my pants...”.
Atlus should really be prioritising the localisation of Scramble, primarily because they should understand the demand for any Persona 5 related products, including spin-offs. I feel they missed a perfect marketing opportunity last year with Joker joining the roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate; if they acted faster, Atlus would’ve achieved incredible sales. I fully believe Dragon Quest XI S wouldn’t have been as successful without the addition of Hero in Smash and while Persona 5 will be successful on Switch no matter when it launches, such financial success last year may have been astronomical. But not only are we not getting P5 on Switch, but they haven’t even announced a western release for Scramble. I hope Catherine releasing this summer, marks Atlus starting to get the ball rolling with their Switch support, because it has been extremely minimal so far and they could achieve phenomenal success. They released so many fantastic games on 3DS and I hope they can carve out a similar legacy on Nintendo’s hybrid crowd pleaser
I’d also love if you could build some of the types of public places seen in Happy Home Designer in the future, especially the restaurant. That would be a pretty interesting addition to the game.
@King-K-Rool I don’t care about the game really, I was just saying what I know. But it’s always interesting when a new game releases on an older platform that’s not necessarily current. Like Just Dance 2020 on the Wii. I’m not particularly intrigued by the game itself, but the Wii receiving a physical release in 2019 was somewhat unexpected, despite the series’ great success on the platform. I actually bought that version as a novelty for that very reason.
@Cevil I was wondering about that too. From what I know, no information has been given regarding Atooi Collection since E3 last year. You can still play all the games in the collection digitally if you want, but I still think it’s neat (if a little late) that Limited Run Games is producing a physical 3DS title in the future.
I love the pool item I redeemed with Nook Miles, but I was rather disappointed that I couldn’t sit inside it: it’s a visually appealing display piece, without the expected functionality. Swimming could remedy this. Probably not, but swimming is such an obvious mechanic to implement into New Horizons because you’re literally residing on an island surrounded by water and I hope it becomes possible soon.
Considering the current exclusivity of V transpiring with PS4 and PC, I think Ultra Street Fighter IV probably has the best chance and I’d be open to it. Include all previously released DLC, perhaps Switch specific features such as HD rumble, the optional touchscreen controls of the 3DS edition and we could have the definitive version of a fantastic entry in the series on our hands: I’d certainly be open to the concept.
The more solid 3D platformers the better in my book; the burrowing ability in the trailer reminds me a lot of New Super Lucky’s Tale. I’m looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. While I love all of Nintendo’s franchises, there are some (such as DK, Kirby and Yoshi) that I would enjoy seeing translated into the 3D platforming genre. Especially DK. Instead they just slapped the PS4 version onto the Switch, aiming glitch and all, for an inflated price. It’s not awful, and it’s still RE4 at the end of the day, but there was so much untapped potential with this port. The price hike just felt like Capcom almost taking advantage of Switch owners a little bit.
