Japanese toymaker Bid Toys is famous for its pop-culture mash-ups and bizarre figures, and the company's next project uses two of Nintendo's most famous characters in a slightly different way to what we're used to.
Super Mario and his nemesis Bowser (or King Koopa, as he's known as in Japan) have been reimagined as characters from the insanely popular tokusatsu 'Ultra' series. Mario is depicted as Ultraman – or "MA-NULTRA" – while his foe is the daikaiju "KOOBALA." If you've played Wario Ware games in the past, this setup might seem familiar.
UItraman is essentially the Japanese equivalent to Superman and has been entertaining kids of all ages since 1966. He's also starred in numerous video games over the years, including one on the Super Famicom / SNES.
There's no word on when Bid Toys will release these figures, so you might want to keep your eye on the company blog for updates.
