The 2018 release Nickelodeon Kart Racers will be receiving a sequel on multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch.
Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix will arrive at some point this October and this time around comes packed with 30 playable characters, 70 companion characters to "assemble your ultimate pit crew", tens of thousands of all-star character combinations, 28 tracks, two arenas, customisable karts, online support for eight players, and local multiplayer for four racers.
Below is the trailer that was shared during IGN's Summer of Gaming event:
Fingers crossed it's a better game than the original outing, which we referred to at the time as a "bargain bin experience" and gave three out of ten stars.
Will you be taking to the track when this one is released? Or are you holding out for the next Mario Kart? Tell us below.

Does it have bubble guppies?
This looks... good. May I say? I'm interested definitely.
This game will no doubt be medicore af, but we got Aang and Ren & Stimpy in the roster for the sequel, so I'm definitely buying it.
I'd be interested, but I never played the first and I'd be afraid that I wouldn't understand the story.
It has TMNT. I am interested.
This will probably suck, but at least they fixed the most important aspect to sell the game, the characters.
The first one only had only 12 playable racers and the license for 4 cartoons, this one has many more.
A follow up to an below average game with half of the roster featuring characters from series that have gone down hill, had their legacy tainted by revelations about the creator, or were never good to begin with.
It's sad that Nickelodeon is in this state. I'm still mad that they didn't make the Avatar comic adaptation but at least we got Korra out of that.
This won't be as good as Mario Kart, but since we won't be getting a new Mario Kart for another 10 years might as well dip in!
I thought I heard Ren and Stimpy were banned from future Nick merchandise once John K's dirty laundry was revealed back in 2018?
looks at screenshot
....So, 3 character roster this time?
No Jimbo, no buy.
Anything with Zim is 10/10
Also I am glad they are still recognizing Ren and Stimpy despite....eugh.....
And...Jojo Siwa???? Why?
I'll buy just for Ren and Stimpy.
It will be better than the last one.
If it is a lot better, I’m down.
If it came out this week, I'd buy it.
Ren & Stimpy!!!
I don’t know, this just seems like a MK ripoff, but I’ve also never played the original Nick Kart racer. Does anyone think it’s good? If the price is okay I may get it for my brother.
Looks better than Garfield Kart for sure lol
Was really hoping to see the Power Rangers in this years' game. Frankly I'm surprised this game exist. Kudos to Nick for trying. More characters than last year and online play added. Hopefully this game will be decent when it comes out.
@Apportal_SMM2 The first Nickelodeon Racers was a very mediocre game. I wouldn't expect much from the sequel. But I'm still curious to try something new, since I'm burned out on MK8 & CTR.
Well they DEFINITELY fixed the character roster problem. I'm quite surprised Nick hands the reigns to THIS many characters.
Hopefully this becomes a compent racer at least.
The graphics needs not to be ps2 though.
@MysteryCupofJoe "It has TMNT."
Sold!!!
Best E3 news this year!
So... this is basically the first game repackaged with content that it should have had in the first place.
Shall I assume that there STILL won't be any voiceovers?
@Captain_Toad The edits seem a bit better but the tracks look really linear.
@PBandSmelly If you makes you feel any better, Bob Camp was arguably just as big of a creative force on the show as John K.
Sure John K. created the concept and did a great deal of the writing at first but Camp had to rein him in when he went too off the wall, even for a R&S episode.
Honestly, it's thanks to Camp that R&S went on as long as it did since he took over the show after the 2nd season.
@Varkster you never know! Nintendo may do their ‘left field’ tactic they’ve always done and surprise with a brand spankin’ new racer. I mean, who expected that new paper Mario game?
If they don't get the voice actors this time then why even bother? Just the look of the characters isn't enough for me. I hope they can right that wrong but you'd think they would make a bigger deal of it in the reveal if they did.
Some Nicktoons simply don't look like they belong. Like I get that Nickelodeon now owns TMNT, but they still look out of place alongside the likes of Spongebob. Likewise, I'm not crazy about the Avatar The Last Airbender characters being in there. While that series could be light-hearted, it seems a bit too series to fit alongside so many other goofy Nicktoons.
Like here are the franchises I think should be lending racers to the game: Spongebob, Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, Fairly OddParents, Invader Zim, Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold, CatDog, Danny Phantom, Wild Thornberries, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, The Angry Beavers, Loud House, Rocker Power, Chalkzone, Jimmy Neutron, and My Life as a Teenage Robot
I feel like that covers all the classics without going into the deep cuts we've all forgotten about, though Doug likely can't make the cut at this point due to licensing issues.
@John_Koshiro “had their legacy tainted by revelations about the creator“
The cartoons were good or they weren’t... I’m kind of over this whole social justice ‘remove any media that is now suddenly offensive or linked to anyone who is a problem‘ thing. I can’t watch a good movie that happened to have Kevin Spacey in it because he was accused of things... absolutely crazy.
@FTL Dude, did you read that other comment I left?
I'm in support of a show like R&S to be praised because they were other talented people who brought it to life.
My point was that this game highlights how Nickelodeon has consistently been making poor business decisions and is continuing to do so. Hiring a shameless sex offender was one of them, however it hasn't invalidate all the work done by people like Bob Camp.
Arnold is driving The Mauve Avenger? Wow, they've actually watched these shows.
@Apportal_SMM2
A new Paper Mario is logical since a good chunk of Intelligent Systems wasn't working on Fire Emblem Three Houses. Rather it was only the leaders of IS and Koei Tecmo did the dirty work. The rest of IS had to be working on something, and this was it.
Mario Kart is simply less likely. Why release a new one when 8 Deluxe is currently the #1 Switch game and divide the playerbase?
@John_Koshiro Yep, fair enough! Was just saying it as there seems to be a lot of this removal or censoring of existing archival content in recent times, purely based on things like Black Lives Matters or individual people’s actions which has made no sense. I know what you’re saying though, all good.
Oh, and no i hadn’t seen the second comment but did now.
This is the sequel we all sub-consciously yearned for but we were just too humbled to admit.
I spotted Heffer for a second at 0:58. I may give this game a shot. I skipped the first one, but I may try this one once it hits a bargain price. We shall see.
@SMW Well, Rocko had a Netflix special. Race day is a very dangerous day.
I'm surprised that they don't have Gordon, Waffle and Mr. Blik from Catscratch, or Garfield, considering Nickelodeon owns Garfield, now.
As for the lack of Power Rangers, that's easy: It's a Nicktoons Racer, has been since the origins on PlayStation One.
Kind of shocking that they include Ren and Stimpy. Like, I'm not one for censoring the past but this is the present. This is a NEW game. Ren and Stimpy are no longer relevant and the creator is a disgusting excuse for a man. They shouldn't be in, simple as that. I don't imagine Billy West would return to voice them and there's no way in hell they got the creator to come back for Ren so what is the point?
Looks like a fun racer, but the choices in lighting and materials really aren't doing most of the characters justice. :-/
This look decent 3D-enterpretations of the designs, so it's a bit sad to see them look so grimey/murky/spooky when draped in all those poorly color-coordinated shadows.
@FTL removing the past is different from removing the present. This is a new game and they're not even relevant anymore. Whoever decided it was a good idea to put these characters in the game did absolutely no research. They're in because they can be, no thought, brainless release
@duffmmann Don't dismiss some of Nickelodeon's best characters just because they have a somewhat more realistic art style! They fit in just as well in a crossover racer as Ryu Hazuki and Wreck-It Ralph fit into "Sonic and Sega All-Star Racing Transformed" or Solid Snake and Bayonetta fit into Smash Bros.
@FTL I agree with your point in general, but "Ren and Stimpy" was always an excessively vulgar and really stupid cartoon in the first place.
@Scapetti Well, they're not gonna be replaced by Power Rangers' own Bulk and Skull. Not even Hasbro or Saban would allow it, but it would be interesting if Paul Schrier and Jason Narvy return to voice them.
@YoshiAngemon what are you talking about...
We need a Nickelodeon Vs Cartoon Network Kart Racing game
@Scapetti Replacing Ren & Stimpy with Bulk and Skull, because of Ren & Stimpy being affiliated with the Adult Party Cartoon, and because Bulk and Skull are funny to watch back in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I mean, if you look at their character development, they got better. And besides, it's not like they'd bring in Carly and Sam from iCarly as racers.
Besides that, we're not getting Doug and Skeeter, because they belong to Disney, and we're not getting Dib and Mr. Crocker, just to hear Crocker spaz out and shout "FAIRY GOD PARENTS!!"
Why modern licensed unless you’re something like Spongebob Rehydrated choose not to utilise their own archives and simply add audio clips of these characters even if they don’t want to record new dialogue, would make a world of difference and go a long way of at least showing their fans that they care about more then just making a cash in.
Finally ren and stimpy
I think you were supposed to put "Slimier than ever" in the subheading?
As a Nickelodeon fan, this doesn't look amazing. It seems better than the first game, but is that really a compliment? The only reasons why people would want this is to either collect, to meme, or to play as a certain character (or to please their child master), but at that point, get Garfield Kart or Race With Ryan, those are more easy to meme and I'm pretty sure those would be cheaper. Whatever, this is better than that Hello Kitty Game will ever be.
