Since its release in March plenty of Pokémon fans have been able to re-enact some showdowns in Pokkén Tournament on Wii U, and in the West (particularly) it's easy to forget that this title first arrived as an arcade. That version has already had new characters added in the past, and now Scizor has been confirmed to arrive in arcades from 20th October.
It's a logical and relatively easy choice, especially as it's a bipedal bug; you can see the flashy reveal trailer (via GameXplain) below.
Will Scizor actually come to the Wii U version? A while ago data-miners found references to both Darkrai (already long since added to the arcade) and Scizor in the console version, but so far no roster updates or DLC have come through. It's a waiting game, ultimately.
Are you still playing Pokkén Tournament, and do you hope to see the likes of Darkrai and Scizor added to the roster? Let us know in the comments.

I'm waiting before picking this one up, mainly because it's over 60 euros here in Spain (seriously, what's up with that?) and because I fear we won't see these fighters on the Wii U version.
Maybe that rumored Pokémon game for the NX is nothing else than a definitive edition of Pokkén, who knows.
Please don't promote GameXplain videos here. They are the cancer of video game trailers since they steal them and re-upload them on their channel. That steals views from the official video and gives them ad revenue.
@abbyhitter which they then have to give a portion back to Nintendo...
Hopefully a definitive edition or an update of Pokken will surface once the arcade version is done with updates.
Damn, that's one big bug. I always forget how tall he is.
Aside from that, I'm like a lot of people who hopes this game will come out on the NX. I never picked up the Wii U version as I want it to get cheaper... plus I really have no incentive to play it until I move into an apartment with all my friends next year. I have too many single player games on my plate right now.
@abbyhitter I've always had mixed feelings with GameXplain. On one hand, I don't support them getting a ton of views and subscribers by re-uploading trailers made by other companies, regardless if Nintendo gets a majority of the publicity and profits. On the other hand, they do a pretty good job with their commentaries, speculation, and reviews. I wish they put a bit of commentary and speculation into these trailers so they'd look more original like the rest of the videos.
Scizor looks good and all, but I don't understand his popularity.
Awesome Awesome title I highly recommend this title on Wii U , at my house we have had a blast with it so hoping they release these extra mon on the Wii U version.
Scizor is my second favorite Pokemon, but they managed to make Scizor's move set much cooler and flashier than I thought was possible.
Scizor is in my top 3 Pokemon all time and is in my team since the Gold/Silver days, that said I still think that the roaster is kind of limited in this game, as the modes.
It's nice they seem to be taking their time to make each character unique, I prefer it over the idea of having over 720 pokes added just to find out there are 25 play styles and each one fall into one clone category.
Also find funny/enjoy how flashy they make these attacks like specials/ultimates/finishing moves (no idea what they are called)
If they release Scizor on Wii U, I'll basically have to buy it. Like many others, he's in my top fav pokemon. Now they just need to add Heracross...
Cool but doesn't this guy have a double weakness to fire? Better play quick with him!
@ShadJV No, it doesn't have double weakness. Scizor has 4x weakness to fire which is more dangerous.
Those were some pretty looking wings on that Burst Attack. It's been quite awhile since I played Pokken, if Scizor and future DLC make it to Wii U I just might start playing it again.
At the 1:00 mark Scizor does Vega's bloody high claw!
It's very obvious that these characters are exclusive to the arcade version. The Wii U version just did not sell enough to justify DLC.
Awesome, the roster really needed a Bug type. I would have preferred Heracross but Scizor is just as good.
Excited to see what they do with Empoleon, but far less excited as I am for Scizor and Darkrai. Hope they come to the Wii U version.
@Interneto : I believe that's what he meant by "double weakness" (i.e. having two weaknesses to fire).
Eh... how many additional new Pokemons so far ?
DarkRai, This, ... ?
The biggest accomplishment is that the devs made "String shot" actually look cool.
Pokkén is probably my favourite fighter from the last few years. The lack of characters hurts a bit for sure, but the gameplay is really addicting. I picked up the HORI controller as well, which is excellent, and also doubles as a great old school PC-controller.
Hoping the DLC characters will see the light of day in the home version as well. I'm thinking they'll release a bundle with everything once the 3 or 4 DLC characters have arrived at the arcade.
I could see a bundle hitting after Empoleon is released that contains all 3 characters.
Willing to bet Empoleon's gonna hit arcades before we even get Darkrai on Wii U.
@LeRaposa your trolling right?
I thought I remembered a article saying the game did good. Beasting the newest street fighter
@LeRaposa It sold over 1 million copies...
@shaneoh because he's strong....
It's severely disappointing just how much Nintendo has abandoned everything Wii U; This game could use these extra characters, Mario Kart 8 could use some extra DLC like NoE may or may not have advertised earlier this year, Splatoon could use some extra stuff. Sad to see such a pleasant system go to waste. (Sure the majority felt it lacked but I for one enjoyed the Wii U)
I really hope they just nail the NX system and knock everyone's socks off with the things they have in store. It feels like their fans have been left neglected for far too long.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy It has Pokemon in it. That alone should guarantee much higher sales and drive interest in the Wii U.
@SPG
There are a lot of strong pokemon, I still don't see the fascination. Particularly, as previously mentioned, it's bug/steel combination make it particularly vulnerable to fire moves.
@shaneoh Even if it is very weak to fire, that's its only weakness, and when you only have one weakness, it's not that hard to get around, and even exploit for your own benefit. It's always been popular because of its design, and usefulness in battles.
@shaneoh Well, in my case, it's because of a couple reasons:
As you said, he's quite vulnerable to fire moves, but even so he's still quite strong in a team. Technician ability, combined with life orb, bullet punch and a decent movepool punish many teams. Just like with charizard Y, you just have to be careful when using it because in the right hands they are among the best options in competitive battles.
Another reason is the design. It's simply one of the coolest pokemon in my opinion.
I still think that hawlucha is an obvious choice and I'm baffled that they chose scizor over him, but hey, I'm not the guy in charge.
Whilst there are enough fighters in pokken and i personally only ever play with one, the roster is limited given the scope of the universe. I genuinely thought we were going to see Nintendo release cards like the mewtoo amiibo card with lots of extra players. they could of made the cards colelctible and release a little binder, pretty sure they would sell like hot cakes.
Pokémon in Pokken have no weakness. The stadiums and links are configure to nullify type advantages.
Haven't played since literally its launch day. I don't know, as a Pokefan, I was superhyped for this game and then poof, I've never played it again. I just don't like fighting games (with the obvious exception being Smash) I guess. Scizor is one of my faves, though.
Looks great but when will the Wii U version get either one of the DLC fighters? The game sold well enough to justify releasing the DLC, and they could even price it like they do with Smashbros.
@riChchestM You got the title "Knowledgeable"!
I'd come back for Scizor.
@abbyhitter They get the content out there, and they're supported by Nintendo I like being able to hear about things earlier. Who can honestly say their subscribed or keep tabs on bandai namcos Japanese channel, and if they were why didn't they give this info or video link to Nintendolife?
AS for the video no other fighter matters now, only Scizor, every fighter after this is obsolete
I would venture to guess that all of the new fighters goto the Wii u version and yet Nintendo has stayed silent. As such, I'm predicting that there will be a Wii u specific direct coming out before the NX reveal and they will have a good amount of Wii u goodies in store
@abbyhitter I mean, Nintendo sends GameXplain review copies for games, gives them backstage passes, and will use quotes from their reviews in accolade trailers. I don't think they care too much.
@sillygostly Scizor is FOUR times (4x) more vulnerable to Fire type moves. That's not a double (2x) weakness.
