Nintendo’s strong support for its free-to-play 3DS eShop title, Pokémon Shuffle, continues with the latest in-game event now live.
Pokémon Safari draws inspiration from the main game series featuring Safari Zones, and more recently Friend Safari, which has players attempting to catch a random selection of Pokémon.
Each time you play a new Pokémon will appear. As a result of the event, the party optimisation feature is not available. Instead players will need to select what they think is the most appropriate Pokémon team for random encounters.
To access this new update, just Check In on the stage selection screen. The event ends on 2nd May, so use the available time wisely.
Let us know in the comments about your experiences with the latest Pokémon Shuffle event.

Meh, i stopped playing this (and Rumble World as well) a while ago...
Big combos! I'm talking 80+
I'm stuck on Mega Gengar
I've been using Mega Gengar (level 8), Scyther (level 7) and Volbeat (level 6). These have been pretty effective for me so far I've caught Carvanah, Spinda, and Cherubi. I did come across one other, but I didn't catch it, or it's name.
Also, they seem to repeat alot, so I'm trying to figure out a way to see if more will turn up.
There appear to be just five Pokemon in this event, as listed on the bottom of this list ATM. Word is some of these appear more often than others (I'm running into Carvanah entirely too often), and Sharpedo has a Mega Evolution so that's probably a priority catch. I'm just missing the two grass-types now, and I really hate not being able to even guarantee who I'm fighting.
I have fought 3 Cherubis and 2 Carvanahs. I hate how they only have a base 5% capture rate. Even with a Lv6 Lucario, Lv1 Heracross, and Lv5 Scizor, I could just barely beat Carvanahs. (That doesn't mean that I caught him, though...)
I've captured Cherubi and Spinda, but Spinda just keeps coming back. 4 times in a row now! I've met Carvanha once and the other two haven't appeared at all yet.
Hmmm. Might have to boot up Pokemon Shuffle just so I can try these safari battles out. Haven't played the game in a few weeks since I moved on to Pokemon Rumble World.
Stopped playing Shuffle after I caught #160 (whatever the last one was, thanks to whoever told me how) but I guess I can check this out, Rumle World is beginning to bore me. I use Optimize every battle so this will give me an excuse to checkout who I have.
It's supposed to be a new Pokemon each time you try, but I tried 3 times and got Cherubis every time.
I'm still playing this game even though I'm currently stuck on Mega Mewtwo.
My activity kind of waned ever since I got Mega Blastoise and beat Mega Mewtwo, but this may get me going a bit again.
How far can you get in this game without having to buy anything?
@ericwithcheese2
I loved Pokemon Shuffle, but this Safari Party is clearly a way to make you use Super Poke Balls (and spend coins, and spend real money to do so). I have truly strongh Pokemon (I beat MewTwo already), and set an special lineup in order to defeat grass Pokemon and just couldn't after 5 tries. Also, the catchability is pretty low and even thou I managed to defeat a Cherubi in just one turn, I couldn't catch it.
@GH05T
i don't remember what lineup I used to defeat him, but along with Articuno and MewTwo, is the hardest Pokemon to catch. Having said that, just hit the optimize button and make sure to select 1.5x increase in experience points (costs 300) to increase your chances for the next time. If you need extra coins, try to beat Meowth using 3 weak and one strong Pokemon and grab at least 330 coins (by forming a 4-coins line).
@GH05T
By the way, have you used the free passcode given away a while ago?
Just type 20150007 on the passcode area, and you'll get 2 Mega Start, very handy against Mega Gengar indeed. Also, you should try the moves +5 power up as Mega Gengar gives you very limited moves to try to catch him, I think,
@ericwithcheese2 The proper question is: "how long will it take to beat the game without buying anything?" The answer is: you better just skip the game.
@Extremist
I've played 10 rounds so far, and I've caught four different Pokemon (Spinda, Cherrim, Carvanha, Cherubi). No power ups needed, but I did have to spring for Super Pokeballs to capture two of the four. According to the list that was linked by Stuffgamer1 above, there are five different Pokemon available in Safari right now, but I haven't encountered Sharpedo yet.
@KTT I haven't spent a penny and im at mewtwo and have all pokes from before it.
have missed out on 2 mega stones and havent done most of the EX time stages yet but still.
@kirbygirl I fought with him twice in a row...
Like if I go VS a safari mon and dont beat them they vs me the next time the same dang one. so im always vsing the same ones i dont capture. Mind you i only did 5 battles so far and i caught 2 of em.
Haven't spent a penny, and I have everyone minus the two event Megastones, Kyogre (I refused to update my 3DS at that time), Aerodyactyl's Mega Stone (currently barely working on that), Genesect, and everyone in this event minus Spinda.
Your best bet is to get your strongest bug pokémon together as both the dark and grass pokémon are weak to those. Once you've caught either both the grass or both the dark pokémon (as well as the normal) maybe pick a dark or grass pokémon, choose optimise and use that team. It means you may not beat the ones that you already got, but meh.
From the 25 lives I've spent on it, 1 was sharphedo, 1 was cherrim, spinda 6, cherubi 7 and carvanha 10, so I guess if you encounter the sharphedo or cherrim, you may want to consider spending coins on great balls. Maybe spend your lives grinding meowth for coins until you have at least 7500 saved up (I've never seen it let me use more than 3 great balls in one run) and try. If you fail to catch it, go back and grind more coins first. It's probably faster than spending all your lives trying to catch it.
EDIT: I also have not spent a penny, and all I am missing is Cherrim from this event.
EDIT2: now I have everything in the game so far.
Its actually pretty mean. I caught a couple of them (they're pretty difficult and the catch rates are low) and you keep wasting hearts to find ones you already have, but not ones you need.
in the main game I'm kinda stuck on Milotic because I don't want to use a power-up but I can't do enough damage. I got stuck a while in the usual places too, Mega Gengar is a beast. I got lucky and used Haunter to combo with the ones he'd leave, since they're still super effective.
I'm also disappointed at the lack of many password perks in the game.
@Kitsune_Rei , for Milotic try to put Feebas on your team. It will help you a lot.
Finally encountered and captured Sharpedo!
Btw, the combos on some of these Safari levels are insane. With some of them and a lucky panel, you can stack up enough to win in one play. I racked up a 133 combo this morning, which was fun to watch.
"Each time you play a new Pokémon will appear."
My experience is that it just goes back & forth between Cherubi & Spinda. I don't know if it will be like this for everyone, but I see that you have a very rare chance of seeing Carvanha, Cherrim, & Sharpedo, so rare that when you inevitably fail to catch them, you won't see them for quite awhile.
