Re: Soapbox: Why Sword And Shield's Pokémon Purge Will Benefit Everyone

@Xploder9825 Well, it depends, just breeding a basic pokemon is easy, leave two compatible pokemon at the "Day care"-place, walk around a bit, retrieve the egg, walk around some more, yay! New pokemon!

But then inherited moves, natures, stats, and stuff come into it, and it can take a few dozen hours to get just one perfect pokemon (I never went down the metaphorical rabbit hole that deep though)

For me it's mostly sentimental value, those pokemon have been with me for years, i watched them go from unmoving pixellated sprites to 3D models that smile and hop around when i feed them, and to go on a new pokemon adventure without Shrubbery, my event Shaymin i got in Platinum on my DS by my (Again, metaphorical) side... ~_~,

Re: Super Mario Battle Royale Game Receives Takedown Notice From Nintendo

MysticX

Well, Nintendo couldn’t let this injustice stand!

I mean, they’ll try to sell us “Super Mario bros.” in several different formats, variations and other minor changes over the next few years, can’t let freeloaders muscle in on that sweet “Just one more version of an old game”-action!

That’s sarcasm, BTW.

Re: Soapbox: Why Sword And Shield's Pokémon Purge Will Benefit Everyone

@Xploder9825 Tempers are running pretty high about this, some people have hundreds of hours worth of competitive breeding invested in their collection, i have some pokemon i have been taking from game to game since the Gameboy Advance, and to then have official channels act like nothing is going on, or the “It doesn’t affect me so beep you guys”-people are pretty galling.

Still no reason to get rude, but i can understand a fair degree of frustration at this point...

Re: Soapbox: Why Sword And Shield's Pokémon Purge Will Benefit Everyone

MysticX

@Xploder9825 That would be great, but on the other hand, having such options would make it even more sour if the pokemon a player really likes (Like how Ash feels about Pikachu) doesn't make the cut...

A guy on Reddit ran a poll about people's single favourite pokemon, the result: all but 4 of them got votes, so no matter which ones they remove, some people will get that bad feeling of their favourite getting the axe...

Re: Introducing Pokémon Home, A New Cloud Service Compatible With Switch And Mobile Devices

MysticX

@frabbit You can probably bring them across at the start, but not control them until you get enough badges (It’s what the “Pokemon up to level X will obey you”-clauses on the badges was for), so in the case of level 100 ‘mon, you won’t get to use them until you cleared all the gyms/whatever you get badges from.

Since you’ll likely be unable to transfer pokemon until Pokemon home releases (months after Sword and shield), it won’t be much of an issue anyway.

Re: Sobble Voted Favourite Sword And Shield Starter Pokémon In Japanese Poll

MysticX

I’m waiting for a look at the final evolutions before making a choice of which starter is best, since the vast majority of the time they are their final evolution.

In SM/USUM, Popplio was my least favourite starter, but Primarina is my favourite final evolution of the starters, so again, i’ll wait with judging before i know how they “grow up” :3

Re: Video: A Look At Pokémon Snap's Cut Stages, Pokémon, Sequel Ideas And More

MysticX

@mrjelly Technology and hardware power have advanced massively since the original "Pokémon snap", nowadays a game like this could be made free-roaming, with far bigger and more detailed stages, more Pokémon with more animations...

The N64 "Pokémon snap"-game was pretty shallow (Although the hardware couldn't do much more), but a similar game with today's technology could be awesome.

Re: Gaming Analysts Predict 'Switch Pro' And 'Switch Lite' Revisions For 2019

MysticX

@Frenean Nintendo threw the 3DS’ gimmick overboard with the 2DS though, so it’s not as impossible as you say, although the loss of loose controllers would cause sizable trouble with LABO and certain games.

Making a “pro”-version would be a sizable “F U” to people who bought Switch so far, not sure Nintendo will take the risk for that, either...

Re: It's Another Sad Day For Print Media As Spain's Official Nintendo Magazine Closes For Good

MysticX

I have fond memories of the game magazines of old too, but print media just can't keep up with the pace of websites, the last time i browsed a gaming magazine (A few years ago already), it was all "I read this stuff weeks ago online", while magazines are great as a sort of "What was new back then?" time capsule, as a way to just read news and reviews they're terribly outdated...

Re: A Zelda-Like Open World Pokémon Game Is "Still On The Cards", Says Junichi Masuda

MysticX

@dougphisig I would be up for a “whole world”-game, being able to catch all pokemon (Except for event ones) in one huge game world would be awesome!

I don’t know how “Open world” would work though, unless by that he meant “We’ll stop railroading you through the game”, because not being stuck to some invariably forgettable story would be great, if players just want to go out catching pokemon without bothering with the preset story, let them!

Re: Feature: Why Pokémon: Let's Go Is The Perfect Entry Point For Pokémon GO Players

MysticX

I’m still on the fence about this one, it looks great (I like the cartoony style), but not being able to use the pokemon i have had for years and lovingly transferred from game to game is a bit of a downer, of all the daunting things to new players i doubt the number of pokemon is a big issue...

I think lots of people are bitter about the “Let’s go”-games because it took resources away from the mainline games to make it, and let’s be honest here: the main reason “pokemon go” got so popular was because pretty much everybody already has a cellphone, spending €360 or so on a Switch and game just to “take the next step” will be too big an expenditure for lots of them...
