Well, if Nintendo are planning to release Gen8 this year, an announcement at about this time would be logical, as a kick-off to the usual drip-feed of information through CoroCoro, leading up to release...

Welp, Tomorrow is officially Pokemon day.

If Gen 8 is revealed, I imagine that they'll give us a brief look of it. While maybe showing off other games.

Let's Go Eevee demo killed my enthusiasm for all things Pokemon... But who knows what they still have in store.
It would be hilarious if it was a Link's Awakening style remake of one of the old games. Or a Jotho expansion for Let's Go.

I'm going to think positive if only because Pokemon isn't one of my most liked series.

It'll be the surprise movie tie-in with Detective Pikachu for the Switch!! Including Ryan Reynolds actual voice and missions straight form the movie! lol

Probably generation 8 starters and some short clips of the player walking down roads. I don't expect a ton of other information. Not the starter evolved forms though, just the base form.

I think it’s safe to assume something involving Gen VIII is revealed. Whether it’s the region, starters or titles, who knows. I would also love if we got word of a remake. Diamond and Pearl are due for one.

'Big News Coming on Pokémon Day!'

I'll be honest, I've finally reached a point where I'm jaded on Pokemon. I played the demo for Let's Go and the gameplay style was pretty fun so at this point the only Pokemon game I would probably be interested in would be like that kind of gameplay but based on Gen 2 or something.

All these comments and not one mention about the Pokébank coming to the Switch/Let’s go yet... I would say an announcement about this would be one of the most obvious for a Pokémon Direct.

I’d be very happy hearing about an expansion to Let’s Go. I’d be even happier about news for Gen 8!

@Cartune yo you just reminded me to renew my year fee for that! Good call! They absolutely have to integrate that somehow. I pretty much have all my ‘mon stored in there all organized and such. It’d be a shame to have no real use for them just because technology advances to the new generation. What about my emotional attachment to my team?! Don’t do that to me Nintendo! Haven't touched let's go since launch but i love seeing the pokemon in the wild aspect,hope they incorporate that into gen 8. Miss wild battles being actual battles though. Wouldn't mind a detective pikachu hd switch version although haven't played the 3ds one yet.

Pokémon Snap... s with the fingers, so half of the Pokémon will get erased. Perfectly balanced like all things should be.

But for real.
1) I don't believe it will be a Metroid Prime 4; given they announced this, and metroid Prime 4 was an out of the blue thing as they probably didn't want to unnecessarily advertise their blunder
2) I strongly believe a Pokémon Switch game is coming. VERY SOON. Detective Pikachu is coming in May and Nintendo would be stupid to not have a new game or something waiting. But alas, we are speaking about Nintendo and Pokémon still is a hot brand, so they might be able to forgo this step

It'll be 6 mins of waffle about Pokémon over the years, what is Pokémon day and thanking the community. Then they'll show off the logos for the next instalment and it'll be over. Maybe, maaaaaybe we'll get the name of the new region. Maybe.

And then the next day Coro Coro will release images of the new starters.

So We can expect Gen 8 and Gen 4 remaster next year

@Miles_Edgeworth I would love a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game as well, but I am not too sure if they would reveal a new one before Chocobo Mystery Dungeon is out.

Still, can hope for a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and would really like a new one at this point ^^. If a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game comes it will be interesting to see if it is for 3DS or Switch.

I’m so ready for gen 8. Let’s Go got boring very, very quickly and I have zero desire to ever revisit it.

I have no interest in Pekemon, was too old when it first came out to appreciate it. I will however, watch the Direct tomorrow just to see what it's like, if it's shown at all.

It will be a small bit of information of the new games because they slowly feed information leading up to the release. There will be a nice drop around e3 then more slow feeds.

Ok here me out they can do alot in 7 minutes so they show the starters and the titles and since this Pokemon day event is all week show a lil gameplay at one of the tree houses they have listed and alos in the direct maybe a port of detective pikachu and Lets go DLC i personally love lets go i would so pay for a johto expansion im hyped no matter what Pokemon is the reason i bought a switch and the main reason ive been a nintendo fan

Kidding. Obviously it will be our first look at the upcoming Gen 8 Pokémon for Switch. They will announce it, show a five minute clip and then give it a launch window of holiday 2019.

I love Pokemon and am excited for whatever they show. The biggest disappointment for me will be others reactions to the direct and it’s announcement. Just going to avoid comment sections tomorrow I think.

The last couple "Directs" have been good. I eagerly await this one! I think there will be a trailer for the Switch Pokémon game, updates to Go!, and maybe something completely unexpected like mini amiibo for the upcoming game.

As for a real prediction: titles are called Past and Future

-Generation 8 shown off.
-Pokken Tournament gets a Gen 8 rep.
-Let’s Go gets Pro controller support.
-Pokemon Box gets an update for Gen 8 “in the future” announcement.

Please be a full 3D open world and not another top-down game like Let's Go Evee/Pikachu. This series really needs to evolve, although the battle system is pretty perfectin I think a Pokemon cull is in order too. Some of the Pokemon are just useless. Give them evolutions or maybe just ditch some of them.

Giving the Pokemon voices should not be an issue now, and maybe taking out the random battles could be nice. Also giving Ice Pokemon some love by enhancing their defensive capabilities would be cool.

Hoping for Yo Kai Watch 4/ Ni No Kuni style graphics, with a BOTW style open world with wild pokemon just wondering around for you to approach and attach similar to Xenoblade 2.

Hoping they don't ruin the main series for me personally.

I’d love to see Gen 8, confirmation of Poké Bank working with Switch Pokémon games, and maybe some Let’s Go DLC or GameBoy Pokemon ganes comng to Switch to tide us over until the November (when I’d expect the new game to launch).

We should probably keep our expectations in check regarding new Gen 8 info being released tomorrow. Remember when Sun and Moon was announced we got nothing more than new titles in February 2016. We'll probably get an announcement of Detective Pikachu HD in May to tie in with the movie, some more info on Pokemon Go or a smaller mobile game, and ending with announcement of Gen 8 game titles and perhaps a release date (or at least month). I doubt we'll see anything gameplay related until end of May.

@RupeeClock This is what I'm expecting, there's no way they're not going to string out the reveals to keep you on the hook until November(ish) when it comes out. I'd expect name, the key selling points and a few limited screenshots. If you resign yourself to the bare minimum you won't be dissapointed!

I don't play Pokemon, but for the sake of its community I hope they announce Gen 8.

My guess is that they'll reveal Gen 8 & it'll look and play just like the new Yokai Watch just like people have been asking for... and perform just as bad.

I’m expecting Gen 8 but I fear we won’t be shown anything in-game. What I would love would be brief shots of the first stage starters, the overworld and the battles. What I expect is a load of live action nonsense, the logos and maybe CGI of the box art legendaries.
Either way, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’m hyped.

Whatever shape the new Pokémon game takes, I just want it to feel big. The worlds/regions of the last few games felt so small and linear.

@NCChris 13 years of Pokemon!? do you know how old Pokemon is? The first game came out in 1996 in Japan same as the Cards and the TV show came out in 1997, making it about 23 years of Pokemon, Not 13.

I would be pretty shocked if they didn't talk about Gen 8 and the Switch title(s). It's a Pokemon Direct, what else would they talk about aside from the next Pokemon game?

The only things I can think of are a potential spin off or a DLC add on for Let's Go. Both seem fairly unlikely at this point.

@Itsthechair I think such a thing will happen, but I doubt it will happen now. I think it is much more likely we will get something new now, and then a gen 4 remake in another year or two.

@Crono1973 would you prefer more of the same? I enjoy Pokémon but part of the appeal of finally getting one on Switch is to push the limits. They don’t have to go completely open-world to make it feel bigger. Changing the camera, going more vertical with the cities, expanding the routes and fields to a larger size. Doesn’t have to be BotW freedom, but the world should be a little more awe-inspiring

The pokeballs in the announcment are very different from past games, they look more real, hoping this is a clue to the graphic of gen 8.

Gen 8 will be where every pokemon is mytical or a legend and you catch them Ash style...

But I really cant wait to see these games looking forward to the direct

• Have more freedom instead of being forced into a trainer, who has a rival, to then be the regions champion while stopping an organization from doing stuff. <- Or least do something different with it, like having the choice of joining the organization or be annoying by popping in on your rival at random and inconvenient times.
• Real time combat like that of Pokken.
• Being able to choose ANY Pokemon to be your partner, that isn't an evolution or legendary.
• Build more on the customization of your Poikemon, like a much more in-depth version of what you can do with Furfrou and Pikachu and Eevee in Let's Go.
• More interacting with your Pokemon.

I'm ready for 6.5 minutes of Gen 1 pandering. And 30 seconds to show of the starters.

@Crono1973 I guess I’m in the other boat. I wasn’t necessarily looking for Zelda to change either, but know that it has, I don’t know if I can go back. I’m normally through-the-roof excited anytime a Zelda game is announced but feel lukewarm about Link’s Awakening after playing BotW. Just seems so small and not as epic. Did you enjoy BotW? Like I said, I don’t think Pokémon needs a complete overhaul but not reason you can’t take the formula and give it a shot in the arm. How’d you enjoy Let’s Go? I was 99% cool with it (just hated the inability to fight wild Pokémon)

@Kinoen some cool ideas there BUT one thing that would instantly drive me away from Pokémon games is the elimination of turn based battles. Those go, then so do I.

Gosh. I remember when they announced sun and moon. My partner and I just bought another house months before and were knee deep in renovations. Before we had a phone line or anything we squatted down on bare and dusty floorboards huddled around my iPhone 6 (could have been 5S? I forget the actually device) hooked up to a Bluetooth speaker that would otherwise boom music around the cavernous house. I streamed it over 4G. We watched in amazement. Later when the game was released we both played it in the mega cosy gaming/reading nook we built on the 3rd floor overlooking a park.
We recently moved out of that as my career has taken us abroad and we’re looking at buying a house outright there too. A shame it’s not in our possession yet as it’d be great to relive the experience again.
