@Thomystic The best solution would be to make a new version of the game that does not need touch controls and fills the screen. That would take some effort though. I would rather play this on a DS, with correct layout and touch controls. A physical that comes packed in with a flip grip style accessory may have worked but not as well as playing on a DS or 3DS.

Probably harder because there is only one screen and it can't be displayed properly.

Metroid prime does not really take place between Metroid and Metroid 2. This is just a convenient spot, where there is no real plot to say otherwise. It was retroactively announced at some point but never really intended as a narrative link between two games with very little narrative. Prime is an attempt at a 3D, 1st person Metroid. Pretty much a reboot, with different mechanics. While the 2D games had continuity, Prime games were made by different people with little concern for being part of a wider cannon. I like all the games and don't think there is anything wrong with Prime being it's own thing. Other M is cannon though, haha.

I will probably get this for 1.99 at some point.

If my steam deck is more powerful than it, I won't be compelled to buy a switch 2 at all.

Artificial scarcity is anti-consumer. People who are desperate to get a rare card are victims of this practice. X-raying cards is not the problem.

I wish I got these when they were 1.99 and could get the update for free. I don't feel compelled to buy them after an update and significant price hike. Never mind, knowing doom games they'll go on sale soon enough. I'll get it on steam where it will be cheaper, likely a better version, futureproofed in terms of what I can play it on and have free online play.

I love the idea of this game but I am not paying what they are asking for. The box art looks like it was made by a small child on their phone.

@anoyonmus yes. Seems really dumb to announce in advance of release that phones are in the background prior to scares. Total tension killer. I'll still watch it. I hope it isn't as much of a spoiler as this sounds. it has some good reviews and the trailer makes it look amazing.

I will totally get this for GBA, but not for forty pounds. I have the mega drive version running on my hacked mini. Cool game. So cool that it works on the mega drive mini too.

Looks good actually. It has been a while since a third party game interested me on Switch. I hope it reviews and performs well, has the right frame rate and resolution and sells at the same price as other platforms.

I don't know whether a zombie chainsaw game will benefit from a lower violence, censored mode. Not really what I think most fans of zombie games would want.

They should simply copy the last gen. That's what they have been doing for a few years now.

As for removing support for Wii U and switch this is what I would like Nintendo to do. Link games to an account and not a console, just like steam. Even Sony does it.

This article reads like the journalist has pasted some quicky searched trivia and Wikipedia notes into chat GPT and got it to discuss a common and unremarkable emulation feature, adding a popular game to make it a bit more clickable.

These articles make me think people who want to play popular retro Nintendo games should buy an Xbox or a Steam Deck.

I would never play a Metroid game on NSO, imagine having to pay rent on your saved progress.

I predict switch 2 will remove the screen, communicating player progress only with Ultra-HD rumble l. All buttons will be removed, in favor of IR sensor input and ultra-waggly gyro. It will have the NFC power of 100 amiibo, meaning that you can tap 100 amiibo at once, and feel 100 different HD rumbles. Using gyro aiming, we will be able to play HD rumble versions of amiibo festival 100 guests edition plus Mario Kart 8 deluxe Ultra HD rumble edition. Mario kart will include a labo cardboard box to sit in. 1-2-3-4 Switch will be the best selling game in which you merely play rock-paper-scissors, no need to turn the console on. The rock-paper-scissors will even work when at friends houses, when you have not brought your switch 2 with you.

Just checked on the wayforward website. It is merely a rom running on limited run's emulator. No thanks, I am out. Why wait until 2025 when I can play that old rom now.

I loved the original on GBA, truly a classic must have GBA game. Interested and hopeful to see whether this is a remake or whether they will update the visuals. The single image on the video shows some promise of updating the graphics. I wont play a GBA game 240/160pixels on switch stretched over a 720p screen. I'd rather play my GBA, as that is what the game was designed for.

I think I'll get this on steam deck when it is on sale. Not sure about an "improved version" running at half the frame rate on switch.

@batmanbud2 I like other M. One of the best looking games on Wii. It used video clips of graphics running on more powerful hardware, and integrated it quite cleverly. The characterisation of Samus was not what some people wanted, but I didn't care. It is one of very few Wii games I returned to when I got a steam deck. Not perfect but a great game.

It can't take that long to make Mario Kart 8 super-Deluxe and Breath of the Wild HD Deluxe on Switch 2.

I hope the game runs well on switch. Only interested in the game, not the fluff from limited run.

Certain 3ds cartridges ask for a patch but the console is no longer supported. It looks like Nintendo is actively encouraging hacking, modding and emulation here.

I love the movie. Didn't think much of the game on Xbox. Will keep an eye on how this turns out.

It looks like they could have used AI to upscale textures in Mario 3D All Stars. If so, it's a bit lazy but the results are fine. The EMMI in Metroid Dread use some kind of basic AI and trickery to make them seem more intelligent than they are. AI is good when used properly like this.

While Abubakar Salim thinks people that look like him in the game development industry are expected to "just sit down, be quiet, and just accept the fact that you're outsiders". I wonder how Pete Brisbourne and Jordan Smee feel now that they are outsiders and do not look like Abubakar Salim. I suppose Jordan and Pete were the first in a diverse and equitable range of layoffs that unrepresented and unemployed all groups fairly and evenly. I'm sure Sweet Baby Inc wouldn't want it any other way.

I would buy a metroid-maker from Nintendo, with officially licenced assets and enemies I recognize. Nintendo should really do that. It is very hard to make a good metroidvania, so while I would buy it, user generated Metroid games would probably be a dumpster fire.

There are already tons of rom hacks of 2D Metroid games. I suggest people just play those.

I look forward to not playing this on switch.

Very kind of Nintendo allowing me to connect my own device that I have already purchased to the internet, that I have already paid my service provider for. They will allow this for "free", in affect allowing me to use my switch like most electronic devices, and yet only for seven days? But let's not forget the additional perks like playing, but not being allowed to buy, some really old games, effectively holding any gaming progress to ransom behind a rental paywall. Forgive me if I do not take ninty up on this generous offer.

The stripped down Dead rising using RE4 engine was fun on Wii.

Looks more interesting to me than Jedi Survivor or Outlaws.

Roguelikes are too repetitive for me and they seem like lazy development.
