Re: Elements, A Breath Of The Wild-Style Open-World Adventure, Aims For Switch In 2022

This has a lot of potential for me, if the graphics and performance hold up on Switch.

I actually held off on Immortals Fenyx Rising due to negative comments about graphics and performance when it first came out on Switch. A month ago revisited the reviews, then bought it on sale. Once I got past the prologue haze and short draw distance (which I wasn't expecting), and the graphics opened up, I have been really impressed with IFR.

Re: Like Picross? Say Hello To 'Pictooi', A New Puzzler Out Very Soon On Switch

MindfulGamer

After playing several Jupiter Picross S games over the last few years, I kind of hit a wall. Then I discovered the Travel Mosaics series and bought the first couple on sale a few months ago. Although they are well done and a change of pace, not a lot of variety in the actual puzzles, at least in the first two games.

I also enjoyed the 3D picross games on DS and 3DS. Hopefully a new iteration will come to Switch.

Re: Yes, The Samus Returns Team Helped Nintendo Develop Metroid Dread

Wow I didn't realize how divisive Samus Returns was until reading some of these comments. It's probably my favorite 2D metroid.

However, possibly supplanted as my favorite metroidvania by Ori and the Will of the Wisps, which I recently bought and am on my second play through. Have to admit I'm not a big fan of chase sequences though. At least MSR only had one (if I remember correctly).

Re: MindSeize Physical Edition Details Revealed, 'Major Update' Promised

MindfulGamer

I bought Mind Seize on sale a few months ago. Enjoyed it for the most part and got about 2/3 through before bailing. Too many other games. Pretty good metroidvania IMO.

Recently bought Ori and the Will of the Wisps on sale and already on my second play through on normal. Man, the art and animation of OWW is amazing. Gameplay is fun also. Won't ever be able to look at pixelated graphics the same. It may have supplanted Metroid Samus Returns as my favorite metroidvania.

Re: Picross S6 Launches On Switch Next Week, And The Whole Series Is Going On Sale

MindfulGamer

After playing most of the Picross S games, was feeling a little burnt out. Recently discovered Travel Mosaics when they were all on sale for $2. Bought the first two, and am almost finished with the first. The 'travel' aspect doesn't add a whole lot in my opinion, but apparently enough to renew my interest in nonogram puzzles. I also recommend Murder By Numbers, where I felt that the story/dialogue definitely added to the appeal.

Re: Surprise! A Hatsune Miku Picross Game Is Out Now On The Switch eShop

For the Picross fans reading these comments, after playing most of the Picross S games on Switch, I took a break. But recently the Travel Mosaics games all went on sale for $2 a piece. Wasn't really familiar with them, but after some research bought the first Paris game, and have been enjoying it. I bought the second game, and will probably buy more when needed (they have a lot of puzzles). It's still nonograms, but the presentation and color feature has been enough to keep me interested.

Re: Feature: The 10 Best SNES RPGs

I don't remember much about Shadowrun except that I really enjoyed it back in the day.

Also remember enjoying Secret of Mana back in the day, but when I tried to play it more recently, experienced the 'Rose Colored Glasses' effect. It just didn't grab me.

Re: QubicGames Is Back With Another Ridiculous Switch Sale, 17 Games Discounted To Just $0.17

I think that I paid 29 cents for Space Pioneer about a year ago, and have to say that I got my money's worth. I thought that it was actually pretty fun for a while. Unfortunately, it had to many weapons, gadgets, etc. that leveled up too slowly. But definitely recommended to anyone who thinks that they might like it.

Also, the Puzzle Book games are decent for what they are IMO.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Skyward Sword Is Good, Actually

MindfulGamer

I played most of Skyward Sword back in the day, but ended up bailing like some other commenters have mentioned. I generally enjoyed the exploration and various levels, but I also found fighting the same bosses more than once annoying. And even though I was generally comfortable with the control scheme, the boss grabbing the sword was aggravating. I'm generally a Zelda fan, but probably will skip the remake.
