The next title in the Picross series is just days away from launching on Nintendo Switch, as Jupiter announces a 22nd April release date for Picross S6.
Picross, Mega Picross, Color Picross, and Clip Picross modes all feature in the new release, with new puzzles across each category and a bonus 'Extra' mode being included, too. In fact, the game boasts a whopping 485 puzzles to work through in total, so this one should keep you busy for a good while.
Check out these new screenshots:
The good news keeps on coming, too, as the entire Picross S series will be going on sale from 15th April until 5th May. If you're wanting to boost your Switch library with more Picross puzzles than one person could ever possibly need, there'll never be a better time to do just that. Keep an eye out for those discounts going live from this Thursday.
As for Picross S6, that'll be available for $9.99 / €9,99 / £8.99 when it launches on the 22nd. If our time with Picross S5 tells us anything, it's that we can expect more of the same here – we doubt Picross S6 will propel the series to new heights, but you can bet it'll deliver more of the great puzzling action we've all come to know and love.

I just want zelda picross to come back
I wish Pictlogica Final Fantasy (basically FF Picross) had crossed the pond. Squenix makes some weird decisions with their spinoffs sometimes.
I already have all of them, I love Picross.
I’m still working on Picross S2
Stop it! Leave me and my backlog alone!
I love Picross, but at about number 3 I figured out replaying the games with a six month break is pretty much the same as getting a new one, but cheaper.
Wonderful news. Wish we could get Picross 3D Round 3 on Switch though...
@VoodooTrumpet I want this more than I want BotW2...well maybe as much as.
I’ve been meaning to get into the series, does it matter which one I start with?
What @VoodooTrumpet said. I find the 3D versions much more interesting.
@MrGawain haha good point.
I'm currently on S5, I'm a purist at this point, playing all of them and completing absolutely everything with zero hints. I squeeze 40-50 hours from every entry.
@Screen no, squares and numbers have no story to tell XD
The more recent ones offer more modes, they introduced the brilliant color picross starting from S3 iirc, for example. But overall, they're always the same. This stuff can be very addictive once it clicks, and it does at some point.
@MrGawain It's what I did with the Picross games on 3DS. With all of them... So I kind of broke the logic as well... And still want to try one on the Switch, but the price is high...
I'd love to see Picross 3D return.
@FroZtedFlakerZz Scrolled down here to see if someone had said that. Was my first experience with the series and I'd probably pick it up again even if it was a freebie back then
I never finished Zelda Picross.
Or Pokemon Picross.
Or Picross 3D.
Or Picross 3D 2.
Or Picross DS.
Or that unreleased GBC version of Pokemon Picross I downloaded the fan translation for.
Or Super Mario Picross on the NSO SNES app.
Or Picross 2 (picked it up in Japan a couple years ago).
So... probably shouldn't be getting any more picross for approximately the rest of my life 😅
@Screen You can really start with any of them. They play pretty similarly. Grab one of them on sale and see what you think. Or start with Mario’s Super Picross on NSO to see if you like the puzzles.
@Friendly
I'm only on e4....
My wallet is crying stinky tears from its poor armpits.
I love Picross.
@Screen You could jump in with this one, but you'll be missing out on a lot of the narrative payoff. I'd recommend at the very least watching a few YouTube videos of the lore and maybe reading one of the novels if you got the time.
Come onnn, release that Sega picross already!!
30 hours into S3 here and still puzzles to solve but getting there!
@Screen
Unless one of the "special" ones (like Zelda or Mario) catches your eye, I would probably go for the latest one, to take advantage of the latest interface changes and quality of life improvements. Although, as others have said, not a great deal usually changes between them, to be honest.
This makes me so happy, also the fact that 5 was just a few months ago, so there is a steady supply of new puzzles.
Day 1 purchase for me!!!! Still waiting on the Sega themed one as well.
The series that just don’t quit! I love it, but I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. I’m just now playing through S3. I really enjoy it before bed. And chocolate. Gotta have my chocolate.
I've played ALL of the 3DS Picross games (I even coughed up the goods to fully "unlock" Pokémon Picross and I completed the Sanrio/Hello Kitty one) and the first three on Switch (S1, S2, and Kemeno Friends) but I am completely burned out unless they give us a themed/crossover one (that doesn't pertain to some obscure Japanese IP).
That's probably 500 hours or so of Picross right there (and that's not including time spent on Mario's Super Picross via Wii U either).
There's far too much else that I'd rather be playing nowadays, but I enjoyed my time with Picross while it lasted.
I'll take more picross over here.
@Shambo agreed: picross 3d was great!
Having played multiple picross games on 3ds and switch, i must say that I like Travel Mosaics better. Similar nonogram game play, but more fun.
After playing most of the Picross S games, was feeling a little burnt out. Recently discovered Travel Mosaics when they were all on sale for $2. Bought the first two, and am almost finished with the first. The 'travel' aspect doesn't add a whole lot in my opinion, but apparently enough to renew my interest in nonogram puzzles. I also recommend Murder By Numbers, where I felt that the story/dialogue definitely added to the appeal.
Still no touchscreen? Still a pass.
And I just finished 5. Here we go again! I swear, this series is most of my gaming time.
More Picross! Woot! Woot! Woot!
It’s Picross. I’ll buy it.
I was waiting to see what the sale prices would be, assuming they'd be something like half off - and I was gonna pick them all up if so. Instead I see that some are $8 instead of $10, and S5 is $9 instead of $10. Yeah... I like picross, but that "deal" is gonna be a hard pass for me.
