During the Financial Investors Briefing a few weeks ago, Nintendo revealed that a big update was coming to Miitomo which, among other new features, would be adding in the ability to send out personal messages to friends. The update has just gone live for Android and iOS, and has brought a whole wealth of new features to enhance the experience.
Here's the full rundown of what's been added and tweaked:

People still 'play' this?
Not gonna lie but this what the app should of been, the update is great in my opinion.
@Gridatttack I just use it for the coins even though I'm never gonna use them lol😅
@Gridatttack More or less. I have to give them credit, this didn't seem to do too well, but they've been doing a great job of supporting it with new content, regardless.
@Gridatttack ur comment made me laugh. Only because I thought the first comment would be something along the lines of, cool I'm back in! Guess Nintendo dropped the ball with this one.
Needs CPR and possible electric shock to pull me back from this grave. Miitomo is lame. Just like MyNintendo.
Wow! This update might be what Miitomo needed to bring it back. I've been using for the past ~30 minutes and it's like a completely different game, in a good way.
This showcases how different the update is pretty well.
With Mii messages it could actually be somewhat useful. However the other problem I had with it was that the download size is huge! So it's probably not worth it.
I've been playing it for two hours. It's addicting again. At least for now.
@MasterWario That's interesting. Before the update Miitomo for me took up a whole GB of space and afterwards it took up only 400mb.
@YouSeemFRAZZLED And the Answer Central is the Everybody Votes Channel!
Here's a few more images of the update...

@PtM Happy now?
Yep, it's a update the app really needed, made it that more interesting, the only downside is you can't move items in your room....and you got to pay real money for additional posters...
Welp, now more then ever you gotta save on coins and tickets because there is more exclusive drop items, the direct messages is cool, side kicks is neat, the global sharing is also neat (got 100 likes and counting on a outfit I made). I do wonder if I am the only one with missing textures here and there....
@BensonUii I hope they'll do that but judging by how My Nintendo has been recently I wouldn't hold my breath.
Sorry, but I just can't justify redownloading and 'playing' this for one person. Great update, but pass.
Waiting for the Xposed SecurityBypasser apk to get an update.. xP
What was the point in clicking the star while the update downloaded?
I'll check this out! I haven't touched the game in months, maybe this'll bring me back! However, I do think it's too little too late. Only a few of my friends even tried it when it came out, and I don't think this'll bring them back.
@YouSeemFRAZZLED
Ah gotcha. I'll spend it on a new outfit.
I'll start looking at Miitomo again now, but if I keep playing or not depends on whether many of my friends are still playing it.
Still seeing this pop up with no way of disabling it so that's pretty annoying.
Having said that, it's definitely better now. Might be too late though.
I'd love to be able to use this... Sadly despite trying to influence people or get others involved nobody I know is even remotely interested. 😥
So how about a release in the rest of the world eh? My major gripe with Nintendo is how they have such an ignorant view of their market.
It's a shame they didn't roll out these updates weekly a la Splatoon. Instead they've wasted all of that early buzz.
This update is SO welcome. I never really stopped playing because at its launch, I mined my Twitter and multiple message boards for 'makeshift friends', most of whom I didn't know. I wound up with a friend list of about 30 to 40 people, which has now dwindled down to about 12, as people abandoned the app. Nonetheless, I've gotten to know that handful of once unknown users pretty well; almost like pen-pals. It's that fascinating component that has kept me engaged. Now, throw in these new bells and whistles, and the fact that it takes up so much less space on my phone, and I'll be sticking around. Thanks, Nintendo.
@MitchVogel I have to say that I'm disappointed with NintendoLife for continuously not pointing out that there many people (like me) in places like Greece and several European Nordic countries, that really want Miitomo but Nintendo STILL hasn't released the app in their countries!!!!!!
And Nintendo itself doesn't give us any information!
Was ok for 5 mins
It´s actually available in my country now. Wow.
Downloaded.
Where is the sidekick mii
I'll redownload it if there's something good worth getting on MyNintendo.
@MitchVogel actually they did release it in a few more countries, like Norway.
Still nothing here and other places...
Wow! It's available to people in Norway now! Downloading it now
I haven't stop playing since launch since this is a way for me to have fun and keep in contact with close friends when we're busy with life. Also the miitomo coins is good motivation for me
I haven't had time to try the update fully yet, but it's welcoming to know that they are still updating this with new features rather than leaving it as is with small updates and moving on to other projects/sequels.
I have to pay a dollar just to add another poster? Meh..
@UK-Nintendo You'll find the Sidekick Mii creation in the Menu under Edit Mii. There where you would normally edit your own Mii, there is now an option to create a sikekick.
@Hokanchu thanks
Nice! Why didn't they make it like that in the first place?
79p to add more pictures to your room?!!! Meh!
@YouSeemFRAZZLED Yeah. Sorry!
