Re: Sega Forever Launch Marred By Terrible Emulation

In the words of The Batter (Off), 'It's better that way.' In reality, RetroArch has, time again and again, got its software essentially stolen and stuffed into commercial boxes (including the Retron 5), then had their source code hidden in violation of the GPL. Sometimes, the commercial box even adds emulators whose licenses have non-commercial clauses.

In all, I would much rather have this than RetroArch be shafted again.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the New Nintendo 2DS XL?

Seriously, I never thought that the new 2DS LL would be a reality, given how the main point of the old 2DS LL was kid-accessibility. Pushing that new form factor would be contraindicative. I am surprised that the price managed to stay low!

...on the other hand, the DSiLL was originally meant for the 30+ crowd, but the whole comfort in viewing the games gave the system a Periphery Demographic.

On another point, I wonder how Ninntenndo- is pushing the 3DS stuff when the Switch is essentially replacing both the console and handheld markets... probably because the Switch is not necessarily... 'pocketable'. Given that they let the 3DS game pipeline dry up, I am not sure on the good this remodel would do.

...then again, this IS usual of what Ninntenndo- does with consoles normally. Ninntenndo- did the NES 2, SNES Jr, Wii Mini, GameBoy Pocket, and GameBoy Micro.

PS I miss that DS signature sound that plays at the beginning of videos that are of the DS line.

Re: Editorial: The Wii U Has Been Nintendo's Lowest Selling Home Console; It Deserved Better

In truth and honesty, the Café deserved to fail. More specifically, the Café latched on to the branding of the Revolution (hence 'Wii U'), yet its games are an tithesis to the Revolution.

While the Revolution involved simplicity with its controller (which was a combination of a remote control and a NES controller), the Café complicated things with its controller (which was a tablet that could have been easily passed a stand-alone console).
While the Revolution had games that aimed to expand the audience (Virtual Console and New Super Mario Bros Wii appealed to former gamers while Wii Sports and Wii Play appealed to non-gamers.), the Café restricted itself to Nintendo 'fantards' who willingly retarded their perspectives to self-service (Most 1st and 2nd-party Café games that are on the shelf are sequels, remakes, or simply remain with current IPs).
While the Revolution purposefully worked to integrate itself into daily lives of non-gamers (hence the News and Weather Channels), the Café would rather serve Nintendo-'s wishes (hence Sigeru's comments here: https://guyghoul.tumblr.com/post/96052392903).

In all, while the Revolution was, at least, a revolutionary in ideology in the gaming industry, the Café ended up served lukewarm.
