Do not bother with 3D for now. While I enjoyed even Sonic Heroes, if Sega wants to restructure, Sega should start with the basics of the first 3 (or 4) Sonic the Hedgehog games. A new character (or the recycling of an old one, especially Mighty or Ray or even one of the ones from the Sound Test of the 1st game) can provide that new control experience that Miles and Knuckles gave.
I remember feeling very anxious regarding the release of Pokemon X and Y.
I also remember feeling very anxious on my predicted announcement of Pokemon Z: http://markysheap.tumblr.com/post/123594186483
I think that the announcement of the Nintendo- NX will come soon enough.
@Mus1cLov3r The opposite would have been true; keep the focus on arcade-RPG action the same way that the NES/SNES/GB/GBC games were. Puzzles were normally no part in the early games. That is also the way a Zelda Maker wold be feasible; no puzzles, just arcade-RPG action in dungeons.
Even if trademarks were not in the form of 'Defend or Die'... ...recall how Tecmo wanted Hyrule Warriors to be more true to the original games, but Sigeru 'flipped the tea table'.
I thought that the XBOX Durango would be emulated first. Nintendo- consoles are always the easiest ones to open this way. Then again, Sony and Microsoft are technological giants, hence they have way more experience and effort in blocking piracy.
Blaming bad sales of handheld-consoles on cellular phones carries the same logic of blaming bad sales of regular-consoles on computers. During the Video Game crash, computers proliferated (recall the advertising of the Commodore64 that mocked the Atari 2600), yet Nintendo- broke through the climate. After all, computers had no intention of playing games; they were general-purpose machines that just happened to be able to play games. Cellular phones, even of the smart variety, are just handheld computers and therefore share the same paradigm.
Regarding Super Mario Bros 3... ...from my perspective, either Sigeru meant that the player was playing a re-enactment of events that really did happen to the Mario Bros or Sigeru wanted to discredit Super Mario Bros 3 because he thinks the best Super Mario game is Super Mario Galaxy, even though Super Mario Bros 3 sold tonnes more than Super Mario Galaxy.
Also, the response to the Bowser Jr question makes sense. I very much always thought that all of Bowser's children were not related to him by family.
Super Mario Bros 3 is the best because that game is the ONLY one that actually satisfied hype. Super Mario World may have had better hardware, but Super Mario Bros 3 expanded the Mario Bros universe to excellent effect, giving a video-game experience that was so rich; the game expanded even into a 2-player mode! (I played the GBA versions of both Super Mario Bros 2 and Super Mario World, both having similar sound and graphics. Super Mario Bros 3 won.) Then again, Super Mario Bros 3 pushed the graphics into almost next generation!
Interestingly, I am in Generation 1 due to me playing through some of video game history.
The one glaring flaw in this article is the omission of the video game based on the TCG. Then again, I felt a rush when he wrote about the TCG, hence...
The annual release date is just Nintendo- imitating EA. I mean, the constant sports releases EA gives just go down salty to me. Contrast that to Super Mario Bros 3; save the e-Reader stages (which shrunk with each country, eventually being non-existent in Europe), every release of Super Mario Bros 3 is very much the same yet still fresh without DLC. Fabulous games do not necessarily need supplements in keeping themselves 'fresh'.
Nintendo- does not need 'secret sauce'; Nintendo- needs to go back to serving meals that customers want. Nintendo- stopped being intelligent and started becoming 'creative' some time ago. (No wonder there are actually little games that I want from the Nintendo- Café, most of them sequels of giant IPs.)
According to Sean Malstrom, 'To those who have seen Zelda since the beginning, you know Zelda did big changes throughout the games. Then, with Wind Waker it seems like everything froze into place. The ‘change’ is something like trains or flying but the formula is the same.' There is also the fact that, at heart, the game is a sword-fighting game, even with the larger emphasis on puzzles. After all, the focus is not on Link himself, but rather the Master Sword. Otherwise, there would not have been a backlash regarding Skyward Sword possibly having Link ditch his sword.
Oddly, Eiji once said that Twilight Princess was 'without a doubt, the last Zelda game as you know it in its present form.' However, barring the possible sword change, the series remained very much the same. Hyrule Warriors not only brought this change (in a way that does not alienate the series, too!) but also was closer to the traditional games! To this effect, I dare say that Hyrule Warriors is the new true and honest The Legend of Zelda series!
If Koei ever did Mario Warriors, then all I want is THE ABILITY TO PLAY BOWSER.
I found odd that you play Human/Garudo Ganon yet not Boar/Beast Ganon in the game. I also found odd that Tecmo released DLC starring Tingle (which is not necessarily fondly-received in the Americas) and the CDi games (which had their basis on those YouTube Medleys and not on the games themselves) yet not related to the Boar/Beast Ganon, who is more iconic.
This is elevating my wishes of buying Hyrule Warriors, now!
Masahiro should eat a lot more enzymes. People's bodies make less enzymes when they get older.
On another point, he worked on Super Smash Bros. Melee 13 months straight, once working 40 hours straighter.... no wonder Super Smash Bros. Melee is so fabulous and, at times, considered superior to Super Smash Bros. Brawl...
...Super Mario Bros. 3. That is the only game that actually lived up to its hype. Also, the game is growth in every way from the original Super Mario Bros. 1, from the graphics to the world... even while sharing the same system of Super Mario Bros. 1!
Super Mario World is great, but had flaws in the intensity of its content, especially when Nintendo- started fighting Sega at that stage in the life of Nintendo-.
My first option is Ganon. My second option is Darunia.
However, I wish I could play Ganon's pig form! I do not care if that would be the form from The Legend of Zelda 1, Ocarina of Time, or Twilight Princess!
Actually, I wish Sigeru would have left alone the table. The original The Legend of Zelda games were very combat-oriented, puzzles being little more than mazes and hidden rooms. Around the time The Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker was released, the gameplay had taken a slower pace, balancing battle with puzzles. Had Yosuke been allowed to do the game he wanted, he would have recaptured the older fans of the games that did not like the new direction that tha newer games had been going. Besides, given how the faster-paced, puzzle-free/reduced games were ridiculously popular, I doubt that Yosuke would have that much trouble selling his take on the series. After all, people are more excited with Dynasty Warriors than the to-be-released game of The Legend of Zelda to the Nintendo Café.
Frankly, I just want violent video games to be banned already. I mean, GIGO does not apply to just computers and accounting. People put out what they put in. A steady stream of violence would give out the fruit of violence. To continually blame the parents would be overestimating the capacity and reach of parents, underestimating the capacity of children, and underestimating the reach of external sources when outside the vicinity of the child's house (say, at school, the mall, or even at a friend's house!).
If nothing else, a ban on violent video games would reduce (albeit not eliminate, since problems related to sin itself cannot be completely removed by human power) the amount of children cussing at each other through XBOX Live.
To be frank, I think that the Nintendo Café pad is a capitulation to the ever-whiny 'hardcore' crowd... even though the screen is resistive instead of capacitive.
Either way, I saw so much potential... they could even have made LucasArts games into Kingdom Hearts worlds! (Imagine the potential that Monkey Island, Sam&Max, or the Tentacle could have gotten!)
To be honest, given how he seems to be at odds with gamers, I expected people here to CONGRATULATE his death... even saying that he DESERVED to die of cancer!
First someone at Rare wonders why Nintendoo does not simply ask Rare for permission to release Donkey Kong 64. Now Someone (else?) at Rare want to make a true and honest sequel to Banjo Tooie!
I think Rare just wants to be with Nintentoo again... and should be.
I had been reading semi-conflicting reports from two 'video game hierophants': one said that Nintendo is underpowered and limiting potential (see the low strength that Wii has alongside how the FABULOUS graphics on the 3D Pokédex are not present in Pokémon X/Y, alongside how Nintendoo seems to focus on minigame collections, Rhythm Heaven being an example). Another said that Nintendoo is losing due to them wanting to force things THEIR way (for example, 3D Mario even when 2D obviously sells, or again, a puzzelda series when the better game was A Link to the Past), being 'artsy' instead of focusing on what others want. Neither were that good with the Nintendo Café (The second hierophant thought that the Nintendo Café 'gave up' by copying its competition with the GamePad. I forgot what the first hierophant said, but I think that the strength of the Nintnedo Café was also bashed.)
Myself, yet another video game hierophant, think that Nintendoo would be the one who will be the sole game provider eventually, given history.
I feel so bad for Pokémon Crystal and TCG... When I played Pokémon Trading Card Game 2 and saw the in-game Card Pop, I thought that the programmers put in that one because they knew how little people used the IR service, thus the programmers programmed an in-game Card Pop so that everyone would have the experience.
I also remember my Trainer House's opponent getting messed up. I figured that someone who used my GameBoy Color had Mystery Gifted with the TV set (since, even at a young age, I knew that both the TV set and the GameBoy Color used IR).
To be frank, this does right what Phillips (due to the poor quality of the games) and Mike Hoye (due to the gender-flipping being rather shoe-horned) did wrong. Plus, the logic of Zelda being in the title is excellent justification for this hack.
I suspect feminizing protagonists in games would become a meme now.

Also, about 'free,' I think that they were saying that 'You don't have to pay us for the right to use Meat Boy in the next Super Smash Bros!' After all, they would get free advertisement on the same level that Fire Emblem did on SSB2!
