Pokémon GO's Gen III Trailer Is Narrated By Stephen Fry, Because Why Not

Such a shame they didn't get David Attenborough to do that.

Been relistening to all Harry Potter audiobooks narrated by him. I don't know why he sounds different here from his narration in those books, or from some of his roles in, like, V for Vendetta or The Desolation of Smaug.

Stephen Fry is in favour of fox hunting, that says it all for me.

@Damo I really like Attenborough, I watch those shows with my kids, and seek out the UK versions b/c Sigourney Weaver doesn't do them justice, but whenever I hear something like this my brain goes "Little Big Planet". So I ask you, is Fry the LBP guy? I never thought of the LBP narration as being Attenborough just as some guy going for that type of documentary voice. I've been watching nature docs since Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom in the 70's, and of course Jacques Cousteau. Not sure if you got those over there, probably before your time anyway. Probably come across like 1950s school classroom drivel now but they were great for my kid and young teen self.

Agree on the Attenborough suggestion. Contractual reasons aside, missed opportunity.

Further, I really hate seeing Pokemon Go adverts. They just further point out how limited and not as promise fulfilling the game turned out to be.

...because Stephen is not only unrelated to Pokémon but also goes down salty with how often he is used in narrations.

Would love it if they expanded on the premise of the advert and actually did a series of Pokemon wildlife videos, with a better voice over. If Attenborough isn't able, what about Patrick Stewart?
I doubt they could sell it to the networks, but as a web series, just to generally promote the brand some more, it could be quite enjoyable, if done properly...

@Lone_Beagle Well that's what I thought too, but figured that I must not be hearing right, since the news article seemed pretty sure about it and put it like it's a fact and not an assumption. If you asked me who this is, I would not say Stephen Fry either, but I also know I could be wrong.

His voice sounds very different to what I remember from QI.

I really hope that one day our tech is up to snuff enough where the in game footage DOES look like the trailer.
