Yoshiro Kimura's studio Onion Games – previously responsible for the superbly bizarre Switch shooter Black Bird – has revealed that Dandy Dungeon is headed to the Nintendo Switch eShop on June 27th for $24.99.

A roguelite RPG which places you in the role of a programmer who dreams of becoming a fantasy hero, the objective is to clear the dungeon and claim as much treasure as possible.
You can gain equipment to improve your chances and there's even an online leaderboard to see how you rank against other players.
Here's some PR:
Yamada-kun (Age 36) is a programmer at a major game publisher. He hates his job. Alone in his apartment, deep into the night, he toils to create a game of his own: it's an RPG, and he is the hero, Brave Yamada! One day, he falls for his new neighbor Maria-chan. To nurture these feelings, adds Princess Maria into his game! Will they find love?
To clear a floor of a dungeon, use your controller or finger to draw a path to guide the Hero from the entrance to the exit. Use healing items and attack or defense spells with proper timing to keep the Hero alive and fighting! Clear all floors of a dungeon to get treasure! Clear all floors with a perfect path covering every square to get a big bonus!
Yamada-kun has implemented a brand-new, mysterious system! It's a worldwide leaderboard, to determine who is the best Yamada-kun in all parallel universes! Show the world which equipment works best to clear each dungeon with the top score! We're relying on you to show off your high score skills! Do you have the knowledge, wisdom and reflexes to be the world's top Yamada-kun?
Musician Keiichi Sugiyama’s unique mix of chiptunes and humming compliments Yamada’s retro-themed world perfectly! He is joined by Caorinho Fujiwara, composer of the Japanese theme song: “Gyakkou Zinsei” (Life Against the Tide), and the mysterious guest singer Nagasa Bonus, whose smooth voice flows over the chiptunes of the English version’s theme song: ”Retrograde life”.

Played it on mobile, game was horrid.
In an eShop crowded with great games, your game needs to be gooooooood to ask $25 for it.
@BionicDodo That's why I was upset upon buying Black Bird and finding how short it was. I should have waited for a sale. I will do the same for this because it most definitely was not worth the price Onion Games asks for from players.
I actually liked this one on mobile - at first. It's an interesting concept and it has a lot of heart. But it was a freemium title and tuned to encourage you to spend money to skip delays and grinding. At $25, I really hope it has no microtransactions and is much better tuned/balanced for a curve without "fun pain."
Watched the video on the eShop and immediately added the game to my wishlist. This looks too delightfully weird to pass up
A free game on switch thats not free
...are those ball gags?
So, They pulled the free mobile iPhone version from the AppStore to make a $25 Switch version.
This gives new meaning to a few terms... 🙄
Wow, that title logo is almost exactly the same as the classic Dragon Quest logo. Way to make an effort
I love this game - but on a smartphone with ridiculously small bursts of gameplay. I wouldn't buy it for the Switch - especially for 25 quid.
Really weird and interesting game on mobile that became super-grindy if you refused to put your hand in your pocket - which is a stance I can kind of respect. You weren't buying consumable items, but permanent boosters that made the game veer away from free-to-play grinding mechanics. Kemco have done similar stuff. Even so, although it's pretty charming, I would struggle to convince someone to pay 25 beans for it.
I adored Black Bird. I'm in.
They could have made an effort to hide the pixels.
@Majora101 same
Black Bird is great and was absolutely worth the price, i'd actually double dip for a physical version.
Replay value is more important then length.
@Severian Hmm... Black Bird is more of a Fantasy Zone/Defender style shooter. They're not meant to be story epics, they're high-score based arcade games. I'll admit that Black Bird's price is a little high, but if you use gold points to get a discount, it's worth it for quick fire, high scoring fun.
Now Dandy Dungeon, I'll admit, is quite pricey for it's caliber; and I can't quite tell what it's meant to be. My biggest guess is that it's a parody of Tower of Druaga. But I hope that an independent game like this of that price tag is brimming in content. We'll just have to see.
@EmirParkreiner Oh, there's a physical version of Black Bird?
@Crono1973 Seeing as the game is a parody of Tower of Druaga, it's purposely pixelated. https://www.retrogamer.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/todrand7big.png
@docprof Yeah, I'm hoping that this is a, complete, version with no microtransactions. Similar to that of Timber Man Vs. and Fly O' Clock Vs. where both games originated on mobile phones that used ads and microtransactions; but the Switch version allows to unlock new skins and modes by working hard on the game, rather than paying transactions to unlock cosmetics. I really hope that the Switch version of Dandy Dungeon is a complete game for the $25 price tag!
Should have mentioned the Dragon Quest inspiration in the article, it's blatant. The logo, the music, the sound effects, and characters are all on the border of inspiration and theft.
The mobile version was a fun distraction for a bit. I can't imaging paying $25 for it though. It may depend on how they handle what the IAP stuff was. I guess I'm glad not see more Pokemon Quest style IAP systems. I mean, okay the base game was free, but there are too many mobile games on Switch as it is.
Look, its Tingle.
Lol, that trailer! Cracked me up.
@SepticLemon
There is no physical version so far, but it could still happen.
