Re: Shovel Knight Confirmed for Surprise Role in Yooka-Laylee

(Seriously, I feel that Shovel Knight is being pushed too much independent areas. I mean, other than his appearance here, there is also Plague Knight in Creepy Castle. I mean, this would make more sense if Shovel Knight gave results similar to the launch of Super Mario Bros or Pokémon Red/Green/Blue, but I think his impact is overblown here, yet others who like independent releases are getting a little desperate or delusional. I am reminded of the makers of Meat Boy desperately wanting their character to be a playable character in a Super Smash Bros game!)

This is basically on the other side of the C&D line, AM2R being (unfortunately) the opposite case.

Then again, given how Sigeru treated Tecmo when Tecmo developed Hyrule Warriors, I believe that this game got a pass because this game was more akin to the post-Ao-numa, not pre-Ao-numa games. (Recall that Eizi Ao-numa liked A Link to the Past because he could cut grass, something the player did a lot in Wind Waker.)

...so surprised...
Mighty Number 9 whomped yet Persona Art Online did not...
No; I am not blaming the reviewers. In fact, I actually appreciate their honesty!
...I am just surprised on the end result of things...

Re: Mighty No. 9 Problems "Totally My Fault", Admits Creator Keiji Inafune

(Note: I am neutral in here. I am not rally a fan – nor an opponent – of the RockMan series.)

...
...I feel relieved that I awaited Nintendo Life's review before passing judgement on the game...
...I was surprised at how much difficulty he had...
...
...I think this problem is due to his managing his own company in a VERY long while... probably ever. He seems to have made mistakes that a new independent-developer would make.
...
...I hope that he would make a sequel, given that RockMan II was all around improved over RockMan I. He should emotionally separate himself from The Mighty Number 9 series in a while, though. After all, he needs a mental refresh from all this.

Re: Rumour: Someone Tried To Steal The Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Demo, And Failed

MarkyVigoroth

First all, piracy makes a copy. I was actually worried that thon stole the physical device!

Secondly, I have reason to believe that this really did happen. After all, while I am not really familiar with hacking of the Nintendo- Café, I know that a rather low-level exploit exists. I am surprised that the System Menu of the demo units were sufficiently low.

Third... whoa... this game must be FABULOUS if someone actually went to these lengths in actually pirating the game! (I am reminded of the Simon Wai prototype of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which was physically stolen from a toy show.)

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Virtual Console Revolution Must Wait as We Pay Once More for SNES Games

MarkyVigoroth

People who worked with 3DS homebrew had troubles with the capabilities with the Old 3DS. In fact, if the emulator is to run at a decent speed in the Old 3DS, a far less accurate emulator is necessary. I can see why the releases are exclusive to the New 3DS.

The manuals... 3DS manuals are always more basic than the Café ones.

I remember reading that Mr Iwata was upset that a friend of his bought a Revolution yet only played Virtual Console games. Despite Mr Iwata's death, I can see this feeling continuing through all Virtual Console. After all, since when were Virtual Console games any equal to retail games?

Re: Soapbox: If Nintendo Took On Virtual Reality, Would It Be A Disaster Or Gaming's Holy Grail?

MarkyVigoroth

The result would be a disaster. Nintendo- would just fixate on that technology instead of going back to the basics on what makes a good game. The obsession with 3D is the reason why the Virtual Boy, Nintendo- 64, GameCube , and 3DS failed. (The Nintendo- Revolution, despite having 3D graphics, made great games that expanded the audience, hence the Nintendo- revolution did not fail in its early years.)
