Daemon X Machina is only a couple of weeks away from launching on Nintendo Switch and in preparation for the big release, Nintendo has released a trailer telling us what happened before the events of the game.
You can check it all out for yourself above; we get to see a side to the game that hasn't really been shown off all that much, with an intriguing and moody animated sequence telling the events of time gone by. The video description sets the tone nicely:
"Before the war against the Immortals, there was Mission Zero…"
The whole thing certainly seems a little more epic after watching this, don't you think?
Make sure to let us know your thoughts - and whether or not you plan on buying a copy of the game - with a comment below.

Looks good. Better than the demo.
Hope they bring out a demo, as I haven't played a Mech game for years and wouldn't mind giving it a go.
Yeah, a new demo, showcasing all the changes would be a good idea. I really want to like the game, but I'm not willing to buy it at launch based on the previous demo and following gameplay videos.
I watched it and had no idea what was going on, like with most anime to be honest.
@Bunkerneath
They already brought out a demo, right after the game was first announced
I enjoyed the demo, and the game has apparently drastically been improved since then so I am looking forward to this.... I hope this title doesn't get overlooked!!
@Old_Man_Nintendo I know but as @BANJO says, the actual game has been updated, so wouldn't mind a Demo of the fixed game
@Bunkerneath
What was exactly broken? I enjoyed getting a very early taste of a new "Armor Core" like game by Nintendo. I have also already prepurchased and preinstalled the game, so it sold me. Not sure what else you want from it
@Old_Man_Nintendo Here is the list of improvements made after feedback from the demo:
Major improvements:
New equipment allows you to lock-on to enemies.
When equipped, the camera will track any enemy that has been locked-on to.
Enemy health bars have been added during boss and Arsenal battles.
Equipment can now be scavenged from defeated enemies from further away.
You can also now steal equipment while hovering.
Indicators now show which direction enemy fire is coming from
Motion controls have been added for aiming - you can tune sensitivity, or turn them on or off, in the Options menu.
If you hold the attack button while reloading, your weapon will start firing as soon as the reload is completed.
By default, the R button is used for boosting and the Y button fire auxiliary weapons.
You can change button configurations in the Options menu.
The initial velocity at which you ascend and descend mid-air has been increased.
The pause after you attack with a close-range weapon has been shortened.
Attacks now feel more forceful thanks to additional sound effects.
You're no longer forced back into the mission area if you step outside.
(Now, you'll fail the mission if you leave the mission area for too long or continue past the red boundary marker.)
Other improvements:
Radar visibility increased
Improved visibility of smaller enemies
Clearer distinction between enemies and allies
Font size of text is increased
Ammo drops from enemies increased
@BANJO
Cool so basic game development? You all act like you have never played an alpha or beta demo before
You are all weary of a game that release a very early demo of their game, took in your feedback and improved their game. In this modern age of game development, where game developers release broken games for $60 and "fix" them you think you would praise this about Dameon X Machina instead of acting like you are scared of it
@Old_Man_Nintendo Quite the opposite with me - I was aware it needed some work and was just a taste of an in development game. I liked what I saw regardless and planned to get the title on the basis of what I played in the demo....
@BANJO my biggest concern was the framerate which they apparently fixed too. I'm excited!
@Synthatron_Prime So improvements in every area basically, and not long to wait now...
@Old_Man_Nintendo You sound so arrogant it irritates me to no end. Honestly a lot of console gamers probably havent played beta or alpha demo before. Also regardless if they did the early build had issues, duh. All they are saying is they would like to have an updated beta demo to see that the improvements were made.
Get over yourself
@Bunkerneath there was one about three months ago.
@BANJO Thanks for the list, I haven't followed the game honestly since the demo really didn't appeal to me at all. The speed of the game was just so slow, I couldn't get over it. They looked like they fixed that though!
@Chunkboi79
If they have never played free demo build of a game before that's on them.
@Chunkboi79
Nintendo has been more then generous about showing extensive gameplay videos for you to see the improvements, they do not owe anyone another demo. They are far to busy to even be bothered
@Old_Man_Nintendo Did I ever say that they owed the consumers a demo?
@Chunkboi79
I have not called any names, sorry my exhausted attitude towards people's feeling about this great looking game has rubbed you the wrong way but you are out of line
@Old_Man_Nintendo Oh sorry that you decide to act rude to people that had an opposing opinion of yours. I called you out on it and now I'm out of line? Again get over yourself.
@Chunkboi79
I forgot the White Knight was here to defend people's feelings.
@Old_Man_Nintendo Always the hero big guy
@Chunkboi79
Says the guy with the literal villain as his avatar picture lol
@Old_Man_Nintendo #thiccgang
The difference between your attacks and mine, is though I disagreed with them I brought up valid points that if they would like to debate me on I up to hearing them out. You just attacked me and called me names because your thin skin got bruised
@Chunkboi79
Explain exactly what set you off?
Wow never thought I would create this
I just wanted a Demo of the game as I (Obviously - I thought) missed the Demo they released a few months ago especially if they have done some upgrades to the game
I feel like we don’t talk about article content anymore in the comments. It gets side tracked into a slap fight. I’m heading back to the forums.
Looking forward to the game but won’t get it day one. Getting the new joycons though ASAP.
@Old_Man_Nintendo the arrogance in your words. The exhausted attitude tone you displayed towards others just expressing their opinion on the game.
@Ryu_Niiyama I have to say the joycons look amazing. I saw they were out of stock for awhile and picked them up the moment they came back up. I am truly hoping the Dpad is better than the pro controller.
They need a new Demo... most not going by trailers again. The trailers looked good last time also.
Yeah, that thumbnail for this article is terrifying. That freaking face man.
@graysoncharles
You can watch the videos of gameplay to see if they corrected what you didn't like. Nintendo doesn't need to release several demos for one game. Either buy it or don't, I am sure it will still be a success without you
I've been keeping an eye on this one. Overall it looks fun, but I'm not entirely sure if it's for me. I suppose it'll depend on how much things have improved from the demo. I'll definitely be digging through multiple impressions and reviews closer to launch.
@Old_Man_Nintendo "Cool so basic game development? You all act like you have never played an alpha or beta demo before"
Nah. Just been burned too many times. Your "far too busy to be bothered" characterizes such things very nicely.
That said, I think I would rather pass on engaging in significant discourse with someone who stands on ideals such as "videos are sufficient demonstration," "take what they give you or be silent and leave," and "you're meaningless/unimportant/irrelevant." The first one is deeply irksome alone. The latter and median are wholly and absolutely condemning even individually.
@graysoncharles re: bad taste
Agreed. It held a great deal of promise and was exciting to play, but aiming was uncomfortable at best and the arena rebound was absolutely crippling.
There are things I'd like to see that aren't listed in the changes, though, chief among them being significant portions of gameplay that push or force Outer (pilot) deployment. You are able to exit your Arsenal at any time. This should absolutely be pushed as a platform for mission-altering infantry combat and facility infiltration, with some being the end goal ("get in there and steal these documents") and some being progression gates ("Get to the security office to open the door for your Arsenal").
More Outer customization as well, including weapon loadouts.
@ELRinley
Hopefully you included your notes after playing the demo so they could make any changes or add stuff to the game. In the final couple of weeks before launch is a little late.
@ELRinley
"Cool so basic game development? You all act like you have never played an alpha or beta demo before"
Nah. Just been burned too many times.
How many times has Nintendo burned you? Star Fox Zero and Mario's Missing? Usually with brand new IPs especially Nintendo pulls out all the stops to give their best effort to make a new IP that can have some legs. If any company has proven itself time and time again it's Nintendo.
@graysoncharles
There are over 30 million Switches in the Wild. Even if 10 million thought like you that leaves over 20 million who could still buy the game, even if they sold only 4 million copies that would still be a success. Dameon X Machina is not a huge gamble for Nintendo.
But continue to allow you pre-judgment on an unfinished game, that was gracious enough to let you try it out, stop you from buying a copy. I'm sure something will eventually come out that suits you
@graysoncharles
In the past action adventure games have sold better than RPGs. Also there really hasn't been a good Armor Core game in a while, where as the market has several RPGs a year. So I think the following will help:
1.) New IP from Nintendo
2.) Non-Saturated Genre
3.) Japanese gaming market
I think releasing this so close to Astral Chain is going to hurt sales. Yes, they are different genres, but the casuals will see two anime action games and probably pick one instead of both.
I was going to buy it anyway, and this doesn't change my mind.
@judaspete Astral Chain is looking down right incredible right now.
@Old_Man_Nintendo
Its not a new IP from Nintendo. Nintendo just overseeing it. Its from Marvelous.
Well i preordered the Orbital Edition and a digital download.
@judaspete
I agree on the release date and genre overlap with Astral Chain. I played the Daemon demo and liked it, but probably won’t pick it up anytime soon due to the glut of good games coming out lately. 3 Houses, Marvel, Astral Chain all hit in rapid succession.
Then again I might be more tempted if Daemon has a good variety of players’ mechs. I’d really like to see them get creative and go beyond the old Armored Core games’ standard mix of bipedal mechs with beam saber, missles, and the usual variety of projectile and energy weapons.
I’ll look forward to the reviews either way!
@Old_Man_Nintendo "How many times has Nintendo burned you?"
Admittedly, though, the majority of burns come not from the games, but from the consoles. Almost all of them are software-related, however.
Nintendo makes great games. They have no understanding of User Experience.
@Old_Man_Nintendo Re: DXM post-beta notes
HO yeah, that was priority #1 right out the gate. Didn't get an email that we know of, but we took straight to Twitter and got right on that @mentioning and hashtagging business.
That said, I'm not holding out any hope at all that they noticed and/or cared about those suggestions. I consider the presence or absence of a rich Outer experience to be a coinflip scenario entirely at best.
@ELRinley
That was one of the most nitpicky lists I've ever seen. However when I said they haven't burned us, I was talking about their games. Also ever hear of Discord, it makes team chat way easier
This is easily my most anticipated Switch game, has been since first reveal, I cant believe it's here in less than a couple of weeks. Funny thing is I have the demo downloaded but cant actually bring myself to play it, I'm playing silly buggers I know, but being aware that so many changes were made in response to demo feedback I don't want my first experience of the game to be in its "pre-update" state.
Ah well, not long to go now!
@ELRinley
•Tends to feel like they don't care about Metroid, frankly. They're too busy making Mario and Zelda titles.
If Metroid games sold better then they would get as high priority as Mario and Zelda titles. Nintendo is a business and doesn't purposely like to waste resources to please a smaller fanbase.
•Samus Returns is physically painful to play in part because of their moronic can't-be-disabled aiming mechanic.
That's a personal opinion and one the majority of reviewers and users didn't complain about. Including myself.
•Splatoon AND Splatoon 2 restrict right thumbstick when in motion control mode, making the first game impossible for me to play and the second game REQUIRE handheld mode because thumbstick aiming is bad in most games and motion controls alone mean you'll be spinning and spinning and spinning all day.
Again a issue you personally had for whatever reason, that not a lot of others would agree with you. Including myself.
•How many wires does Splatoon 2 require, again, in order to play with voice chat? How many DEVICES? Now, how many wires does Fortnite require on the same system? Just one? Through the console's built-in TRRS jack? This proves that Nintendo could've actually baked it into the game, or failing that they could've fixed it retroactively.
Discord, it's beautifully easy to use, has text and voice chat. Frankly it's better than anything the PS4, or Xbox One have pre-built in. I wouldn't use a native Nintendo Switch online communication service even it became available. Discord also allows you to voice chat cross platform.
•Clunky menus in Breath of the Wild. No touch input despite being native to a system with touch input. RIP quality of life.
Again most of your issues seem like a you problem and no one else literally cares. Including myself.
•Smash Ultimate has some kind of weird control lag going on that all the Smash nerds keep snarling about. I don't remember the details well.
The reason you don't remember the details is because it's made up, you were grasping for straws to complain about the biggest Switch games and you failed. It's ok to admit failure.
Admittedly, though, the majority of burns come not from the games, but from the consoles. Almost all of them are software-related, however.
•Friend Codes were bad and are still in use. No unique-name or email type functions on the horizon.
Friend Codes do suck but aren't the end of the World, in fact every month or so I Photoshop a new Friend Code card that showcases the newest game I am looking forward to, it also displays which multiplayer games I am currently playing and will be playing soon.
•Nintendo ID is permanently bound to the Wii U.
https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1088/~/how-to-delete-a-nintendo-network-id
No they are not
•No Bluetooth audio for the Switch, despite using Bluetooth hardware. The Switch Lite has the same problem. We shouldn't have to buy 3rd party hardware to make up for a software restriction that doesn't benefit anyone, Nintendo included.
This is as dumb as faulting the PS4 for having controllers and headsets that though they use Bluetooth to connect to the PS4 they do not connect natively to the PC via bluetooth.
•Extremely rudimentary and clunky library management on the Switch that only works fluidly for small libraries.
This one I will agree with you, and out of all the features I want immediately on the Switch, simply add folders it will help me manage my collection.
•Single-parent-only parental control app. Said app also places blanket rules over an entire Switch and cannot restrict per-account. And if you bring up "accounts don't have passwords," you'll just be ousting this as a compound flaw.
This is only really a problem with divorced parents, and then even then not a big issue. I simply have the app, I spoke with my ex-wife and set up the app with her. Boom problem solved
•The ENTIRE system governing the "3rd party docks brick Switch consoles" fiasco, which save for Nyko's awful blunder is 100% Nintendo's fault for taking a USB Implementer's Forum specification connector and communication standard and BREAKING specifications in a bunch of ways without communicating the differences to their users or industry partners and instead just doubling down on their Apple-esque "just buy our in-house accessories" rhetoric.
I have the officially licensed Switch backpack that can carry the official dock, not really a big issue. I think most people carting around the system portable don't really care about docking it.
•The amount of clunky, mangled, UX-devoid decisions put into every console's UI since the Wii, with the DS family's menu system frankly being some of the most irritating to use overall and the 3DS and Switch having no excuse given the amount of role models they now have running around.
So you brought up this issue multiple times, yes the menus are not the best, do they sicken or anger me no.
@Old_Man_Nintendo Ah. So not only do you look down your nose at anyone who expresses dissatisfaction or surprise, but you make excuses upon excuses for blatant flaws and top it all off with isolation and invalidation tactics... sputum that amounts to "nobody cares about your special snowflake problems and opinions." I was right about you from the start. Nothing more than a waste of our time and energy.
Oh well... at least the compilation efforts were intrinsically satisfying.
@ELRinley
Sorry you couldn't come up with any rebuttals to mine. You must have been a blast in debate class.
I enjoy my Switch quite a bit, hell I have bought 4 of them lol. I can't help it if I found your list incredibly nit picky and though you have a few valid points none of them distract from the fact that I enjoy my Switch far more than my PS4 or PC.
