IMO this is the worst Luigi's Mansion game. Do they even have co-op for the main campaign or will this remain as the only single player only campaign in the series?
I still wish you'll be able to play this on the inevitable Switch 2 in 60 FPS.
The original is one of my favourite games but guess I'll just borrow the HD version. I'm not into double dipping games I already own, especially if the old one is 60FPS and the new one is 30.
Does Luigi's Mansion 2 HD have co-op for the main campaign? If it doesn't, it would remaing the ONLY Luigi's Mansion game without a co-op option for main campaign in any version.
They propably don't have anything to show yet. The only new game they had for this year was the Peach that's already out, the rest are just remakes of already existing older games.
@Prizm
Also makes them feel less like a machine rather than a company where people make games.
Great to see Mario Sunshine receiving some love from the modding scene. Super Mario Sunshine has some of the best gameplay mechanics seen in a Nintendo game and it was always a shame they took away Mario dive attack in favor of, ugh... shooting star bits with Wiimote.
Oh wow, maybe I completely missed the news that Sea of Thieves is coming to Switch but I think that's great.
It's good to have options on which platforms we want to play games. Many games on popular, gimmick and obscure systems will be lost to time because there are so many people defending massive corporations and yelling how wrong it's to emulate anything, etc.
Friend of mine bought Zelda TOTK and instead of playing it 30 fps on Switch, he decided to emulate it on PC in 60 fps mode.
Having Sea of Thieves on Switch as an official release actually gives people a chance to play it on a less powerful hardware if they really want to.
@-wc- You have some points here that I want to reply to:
When talking about for example F-Zero (or more spesifically F-Zero GX, one of my all time favourite games) people here on Nintendolife often comment why F-Zero shouldn't get a big new entry because Nintendo wouldn't get maximum profit out of it when compared to like Mario Kart. I like the fact that you brought up the "from the gamers perspective". I like games for both their artistic visions and entertainment value and sometimes it feels like you are only allowed to ask for Nintendo games and series that are non-risky and always highly profitable.
Does Luigi's Mansion 2 HD's main campaign have a co-op like they did with Luigi's Mansion 3 and the 3DS version off Luigi's Mansion 1? Because that would be the only reason I'd play trough Luigi's Mansion 2 again.
That's going to be very hard to achieve. I'm all in for completely different kind of games within the series but they really need to stick to their good ideas for longer than just one game. We still don't have even a decent follow up to Sonic Generations. Sonic Mania was the best 2D Sonic so far and they should have allowed the team to make a sequel without a millionth Green Hill Chemical Plant etc. throwback.
I'm all in for Mario getting great competition since that usually means better games for both series. Having played so many different Sonic games over the years I just can't imagine such a future for Sonic.
I'm borrowing this and only playing co-op with my friend. Since Get it Together is my favourite Warioware game I hope co-op is in every future release in this series.
I'm not close yet but I'm not flipping tables over a free to play game (or any other game) so my choice at 35th place is "Not yet, but I'm getting close".
This is in my top 10 Kirby list. I know it has a lot of problems with no clear indication when certain doors lead to places with no way to return and a a lot of repeating the same areas... but I still liked it enough that I 100% completed this all the way back in 2004 and had a Any% run in 2013. I'm so glad I finally get to experience the 4 player co-op.
Fun fact: back when I first played this, the Boss Rush was the hardest gaming challenge I had conquered. I quess the games I chose to play back then were much easier.
We still need Croc, Tomba and other old-school PS1 platformers for Switch. Oh, and Castlevania Symphony of the Night of course, still one of my favourite Metroidvanias.
@HalBailman I have played both of them with my friends over many, many years and I prefer GX. It would be nice to witness a western release for F-Zero X Expansion Kit though. Having a 3D track editor in a game is something Nintendo hasn't really tried since. Heck, neither F-Zero games with a track editor (X Expansion Kit or Climax) didn't get a western release.
As many people have said already, just port GX to Switch and add online multiplayer to it. F-Zero deserves a chance on one of the best selling consoles ever.
And unlike many people here have said... no, Mario Kart is not a replacement for F-Zero. Mario Kart and F-Zero are two completely different games. It's almost like there can differences inside the racing genre itself: realistic, wacky kart racer, hyper fast futuristic, etc.
Nice, finally an option to turn of Lightning and Blue Shell. Speaking of Blue Shell, I much prefer the item they had in Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformers. You could unleash a swarm of robot wasps in front of the 1st player but with skill you could actually dodge all of them. Not that you couldn't dodge Blue Shell in many Mario Kart games but it mostly required a specific item or very spesific circumstances to pull it off.
Nice to see that some people here use the term "platform fighter" instead of "smash clone".
Nickbrawl is a lot of fun and I really wish Smash Bros goes back to wavedashing mechanics in future sequels. I also recommend Ludosity's previous platform fighter, Slap City.
There is room for more platform fighters. That genre shouldn't be exclusive to Smash Bros, it's healthier to have competition (and force Nintendo to make rollback netcode to their own fighting games).
The 3DS entry is easily my favourite in this trilogy even if it has just one island. The controls are just so smooth in it and stereoscopic 3D really helps with a precision game like this.
He could also have said that Switch isn't powerful enough and we'd get under 30fps version but saying that is bad for business. Yeah, they could hire some super porting company to port it for Switch but maybe they don't want to throw money for that. How much would Yakuza sell on Switch? I don't know, propably more than those japanese only Wii U ports.
I mean... it was a bare minimum remake that lacked the charm of earlier remakes and I only borrowed it from the library for free. But best game award? Why? How?
Oracle of Ages back in 2002. I really liked the puzzles in that game so I found some earlier Zelda's like A Link to the Past a little lacking in that department. I've played trough every main line Zelda and spin-off since. I love this series!
I started playing competetive Pokemon TCG during Platinum set and played until year 2016 so I know more about the EX era than old ex era. These HP numbers have become quite massive.
Nah, we need more complex tracks with nice jumps and boost pads like Rainbow Roads. I'm much more of a Crash Team Racing and Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed fan and that fact won't change unless they make Mario Kart 9 into something truly amazing.
Or they could make a follow-up to my top 10 favourite game ever, F-Zero GX.
For me , Dahlia is one my least favourite main villains in the entire series. Spirit channeling works the best for me when it's used for a support purposes, not for bringing a really annoying main villain to the court who is already dead. Even the much hyped final trial of TaT itself gets way too much praise to my liking. Personally, I much prefer the final cases of AA1, AA2, AA5, AA6, AAI2, etc... Yeah, Dahlia is a villain you are supposed to hate because she is so manipulative and pure evil, I really get that. I've just seen a similar villain done better in many other stories and being far less annoying to witness as a player/reader/watcher.
My personal favourite villain is from AAI2. I've played every other AA game other Great AA Duology (someday I'll play those too).
Gamecube era might still be my favourite... minus the lack of Nintendo's own online games on Gamecube. F-Zero GX is still my favourite racing game and it came out almost 20 years ago. F-Zero GX controls so well too: you go at insane speeds and do sharp turns without the use of brakes.
In a better world, F-Zero GX outsold any Mario Kart.
The last time I played a combat racing game was Jak X Combat Racing on PS2... and that was in 2015 because when the game launched in 2005 I didn't have a PS2 or knew anyone who had that game. Jak X had a really good handling for the vehicles but what I especially enjoyed was the fact that every button did something. It was certainly more complex than your average kart racer. I miss the time when Naughty Dog's fourth entry in any series was a racing game. Still waiting for Unkarted and The Last of Karts.
Run and gun levels were only added because some people complained that there can't be "just a boss rush game without anything else but boss fights" (they were wrong). Not that those levels were bad but bosses were the main focus of Cuphead so I'm glad DLC has only boss fights.
@sdelfin
I can agree, I've played much harder modern games too. I enjoyed the original Cuphead a lot and spent a good 8 hours playing with my Gamecube controller. Meanwhile a friend of mine complained that the game was too short and completed Cuphead in 2 hours with a keayboard.
If I had a set of Dragon Balls, I would ask all NFT's erased from the face of Earth. Or maybe just asking for world peace would achieve the same thing.
I'm glad more gaming communities are making their own Nintendo Direct style broadcasts. I'd still like to see Mother 3 get an official release but I'm happy for having the original japanese version and a fan translated reproduction cartidge on my videogame shelf.
The first non-Nintendo Direct one I saw was Rivals of Aether Direct in 2018 right after a Smash Bros tournament.
I guess the rarest game in my collection is F-Zero X Expansion Kit for N64DD. It's such a shame this gem with an awesome 3D track editor was never released in the west and propably never will. But hey, emulators, am I right?

Re: Round Up: The First "Hands On" Impressions Of Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Are In
I guess this will remain as the only LM game without a co-op option for the main campaign.
I played trough the original and the HD version doesn't seem worth it, even if I borrowed the game for free from the local library.
