I'm not as familiar with this game as others. Other than "knowing" the name of the game and that it was apparently a fun 3D platformer.
It sounds like a polished remaster actually and one for 3D platforming fans as well as those who want to relive nostalgia. The mechanics working nicely is the key for me.
However, I have a metric tonne on my backlog so this will likely be a discounted purchase.
I think we need context here. This is the deep winter of the amazing conosle that is the Switch 1. The Direct wasn't going to pull up any trees. Tamodachi Life 2, Rhythm Heaven Switch, Metroid Prime 4 had me thinking we should have had these games earlier in the Switch's life. Insta-buys.
Strange we had no Layton update (I suspect it gets moved to NS2) & no date for DQ 1&2 Remakes. Also the 2026 release date was interesting. Is the NS1 expected to co-exist with NS2 comfortably? I suppose it doesn't matter with NS2 being backwards compatible.
A few other very interesting games that I'll definitely look into (Gradius Collection with S3!, Monument Valley Trilogy, Raidou Remastered, Marvel Cosmic Invasion).
@Falien I absolutely loved Pipemania. I think I discovered a couple of cheap 89p pipemania clones in the eShop. They were on sale. Their names escape me though (despite me downloading one of them!)
Mario Galaxy 2
DQ X (offline)
Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn
Yoshi and Poochi's Wooly World
Luigi's Mansion 1 HD
METROID PRIME 4
Rhythm Heaven Switch Edition
Zelda Windwaker HD
Wario Land Shake Dimension HD
Excite Truck and Excitebots!
Sin and Punishment 2 HD (with gyro)
I've got a soft spot for breakout style games. I even download clone breakout games with their own theme or take. I appreciate may seem average to others.
So an actual breakout series game that is reviewed by reliable reviewers as good I am sure I'd get a lot out of. The review content has me really interested.
TBH, they are all at least good or outstanding. My fav is Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition and then no.3.
1 because of the impact the first game had on me and the homely endearment I have to the characters. 3 is the better video game, tbf.
The DLC of 3 then follows then the excellent Torna
The two 'weakest' games IMO are no.2 then 3D version of Chronicles 1 as it didn't visually translate as well as the other games (despite being novel that you could play XC on the go back then). I still have the XC screen saver background with theme music on my New 3DS XL. Good times
At the end of the day I'd recommend each and everyone of them. One of my favourite series of all time.
1. XC Def Ed.
2. XC3
3. XC3 FR
4. XC Wii
5. XC2 Torna
6. XCX
7. XC2
8. XC New 3D
This was unexpected in that it reads like a Xenoblade style game! Interesting move for the series and it looks like they pulled it off bar the performance on the Switch. Honestly, I would have been happy for this to be released as a Switch 2 launch game or something but here we are.
Looks like one to defo consider on a discount and/or a performance patch.
It looks awful. Would prefer a more powerful Nintendo clamshell style design than that. Also would probably cost the Earth and the Moon knowing good ol' Samsung
Cheers for the review. Reads like a great addition to the Indie circuit in the eShop ocean. One thing though, it doesn't read 'significantly worse' than Everhood 1 and that was a 9/10 reviewed by this site. Obviously individual reviewer opinion and all that. Anyhoo, one to download in a bit!
I played the game on the Wii and thought it was an okay timepass. Interesting at first but then got quickly dull. My oldest who was a kid at the time seem to enjoy it for a limited time only.
Also, this NL site reviewed it at 6.5/10 themselves as "not bad". A far cry from Mania Plus and Sonic & Shadow Generations. Generally the other Switch 1 offerings have been significantly better Sonic games as well.
Having said that if they can remaster it for the Switch 2 and improve it, I'd be down.
I'll be keeping mine. It has screen cracks on it. It lasted from launch day until 2024 relatively in good condition (just a small crack in the plastic housing), then our youngest nephew handled it, lol. No use trading it in tbf and I think I would have kept it anyway. I may not transfer all my games across as well, just a selection (if that's possible).

Well NS2 version it is then
Re: Zelda: Breath Of the Wild And Tears Of The Kingdom Will Be Enhanced With Switch 2
@somebread I see. I'll look into that but I'm not hugely motivated for this particular news as of now.
Re: Val Kilmer, Acting Legend And One-Time Video Game Voice Artist, Has Died
A great actor. So many good performances and a very recognisable face in film. 65 is too young. Rest peacefully and thank you.
Re: The Switch 2's Screen Isn't OLED, But It Will Support 1080p/120fps Gameplay
Some LCDs look as good if not better. But we shall see. The butter smooth fps potential is welcome. Hope devs design games to achieve it
Re: Standard Micro SD Cards Won't Work On Nintendo Switch 2
Dangnamit. That 1.5TB card I have spare isn't an express. Ah well, more expense. Lol.

Re: Listen Up, Mii Are Officially Back And They Now Have Ears
The Wii U Miimaker creator app was my most used app of all time, lol. Made all kind of weird and wonderful characters.
Re: Nintendo Showcases Every Switch Direct Game In New Infographic
Insta-buys: Metroid Prime 4, Pokemon Z-A, Tomodatchi Life "2", Rhythm Heaven, DQ 1-II 2D-HD.
Most likely : Gradius Collection, Raidou, AI Somnium Files game, Marvel game
Lots of other good looking games there though tbf

Re: Get A Closer Look At Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake In New Teaser Trailer
Good, good stuff. I love the DQ series but I don't think 1 & 2 originals have aged that well. This HD-2D remake was sorely needed IMO.
Re: Iconic Sony Sports Series 'Everybody's Golf' Tees-Off On Switch This Year
Always wanted to try this. However with a fair few other interesting games from the Direct I may download it a bit later on in the NS1's life.

Pokemon Z of course is a insta-buy.
Contextually a 6-7/10 direct IMO.
Re: Marvel Gets The Shredder's Revenge Treatment In Upcoming Beat 'Em Up 'Cosmic Invasion'
My kinda thang actually. So I am down.
Re: Rhythm Heaven Groove Announced For Switch, Launching 2026
I'm so bad at the game series (IMO) but love it. Great news. Kind of "about time" as well.

Re: Feature: "If The Game Does Not Sell Well, We May Be Done" - It's Do Or Die For Too Kyo Games & 'The Hundred Line'
It's on my wishlist. I'll defo give it a strong consideration if it reviews well. I like this dev's work.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Nobunaga's Ambition (SNES)
The Japanese one.
Though not exactly great either.
The art of the four characters is decent, I suppose.
Re: Rumour: A Switch 1 Direct Presentation May Take Place This Week
I think it's too close to the NS2 direct now surely?
Re: UK Charts: A Strong Xenoblade Debut Can't Escape Assassin's Creed's Shadow
I am a huge fan of the Xenoblade series and I am enjoying XCX.
I also wouldn't mind playing AC Shadows on the NS2 tbh
Re: Nintendo Download: 20th March (North America)
Getting XCX physically.
Probably will download breakout beyond. Atelier once patched

Re: Poll: What's The Best Xenoblade Game? Rate Your Favourite For Our Upcoming Ranking
I've played them all. They're all 10/10 bar XC2 (9), XCX (9) and maybe the 3D version of Xenoblade Chronicles (9).
My "favourite" game is Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition on Switch.
"The best game" IMO though is Xenoblade Chronicles 3
XC1 (Def Ed) > XC 3 > Torna > XCX >> XC2
Re: 'Azure Striker Gunvolt Trilogy Enhanced' Announced For Switch
I have played the first two. Good gaming. The other is on my backlog. I doubt I get "an enhanced trilogy" , sorry.

Yu-gi-oh collection
Glover and Everhood 2 soonish but later
Re: Nintendo Highlights Four Brand New Games "Coming Soon" To Switch

Really looking forward to those two!
Re: Review: Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection (Switch) - A Comprehensive Round-Up With A Few Real Winners
I adored the DS games in the main. I played a few of the GBA iterations. This is right up my alley. Cheers for the review.
