Hating region locking since DSi

Re: Nintendo Download: 31st March (Europe)

Oh well, bought Fire Emblem Awakening last weekend, but I'm still in Chapter 1 so I suppose I missed the DLC purchase then since it can only be bought after Chapter 4 is done...

Shame that the DLC can't be bought in the normal eShop.

Re: Nintendo of America Opens the Teaser Site for Metroid Prime: Federation Force

Kolzig

It was quite revealing to hear in the last Direct that the game has been so long in development. I haven't much watched the videos or anything. I don't exactly agree with all the negative comments, but it is true that 3DS is capable of so much more just in graphics department.

Can't say much more about this if it will end up like Triforce Heroes in my books or not. I do like the idea of expanding the Metroid universe, it should not be just about Samus Aran, Ridley etc.

Also the Metroid multiplayer football style game was reportedly a lot of fun when it was unveiled in the Nintendo Championships in last year.

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th April (Europe)

Kolzig

Awesome to finally get to see Lost Reavers.

Also really good that the Nintendo Selects Wii U games are coming. I really hope this increases especially the sales of Lego City Undercover, it's still one of the best Wii U games made.

Re: Reminder: All of the Expiry Dates to Help You Plan Your My Nintendo Rewards

Kolzig

I still don't get it why do the points expire after six months. Seems like the dumbest idea ever thought up. It's digital points, those should never expire.

Or if there needs to be an expiry date for earned points, put something like two years as the limit.

I hope they give more content soon to My Nintendo rewards, make more Missions available and restructure the gold points amount ranges.

Miitomo also needs to be released globally and stop with the stupid regional releases for a social media app.

Re: Mighty No. 9's Release Date Remains A Mighty Mystery

Kolzig

I feel ashamed that I put money in this project. The demo felt ok, but nothing revolutionary and it wasn't as great as Mega Man games. The graphics look really weak when they decided to go for 3D models instead of more like the original concept art.

The most useless part of the game is the online mode that nobody asked for. And apparently that is the excuse used for the postponing of the release, because the online is not working. The single player story part of the game is supposedly done already.

I am still wishing that they will give the Wii U & 3DS as cross purchase option like they are doing with PS4, PS3 and Vita.

But yeah, I am not buying or supporting anymore Inafune games ever. It starts to be clear why Capcom let him go.

It's beyond hilarious that Inafune's Xbox One game has been postponed also to somewhere in the future years.

Re: Nintendo's Official Website eShop Purchases Are Up and Running

Kolzig

@Kamalisk

It's exactly like that, the European/UK site is a total mess. The old pages are still there, the confusing UK official store is there and both it and the "eShop pages" have download purchase links which doesn't make any sense.

Shibata & co. really need to up their game, because this looks like cheaply done crap.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of My Nintendo and Miitomo?

Kolzig

Miitomo I can't really say since Nintendo has intentionally region blocked the app so I can't officially download it and can't link it to my Nintendo Account because of country restrictions.

They really need to release it globally and soon. And forget about the localizing in various languages, just release it in English.

My Nintendo is a stepdown in a way from Club Nintendo, but since my country was never part of Club Nintendo, it is a step up for me. Finally get to be part of some Nintendo extra activity. The My Nintendo itself is really barebones at the moment. It really needs more content and with a fast pace.

Also Nintendo needs to put in future also physical purchases to receive gold points with a point card like in old Club Nintendo was.

They also desperately need to fix the absolutely stupid price range with the gold coins. It needs to be 4.99-9.98 for 10 coins, then 9.99-19.98 for 20 coins since a ton of software is priced 9.99 so it's total bs that you only get 10 for that and then zero gold points for nes vc purchases.

Also they need to include DLC into the points program.

American eShop looks great, fresh and easy to use. The European one looks horrible. They need to make one unified eshop page for Europe under www.nintendo-europe.com

The shop needs to have a shopping cart for multipurchase and I don't understand where is the wishlist functionality in the web eShop that is in Wii U and 3DS already?

Re: Nintendo's Official Website eShop Purchases Are Up and Running

Kolzig

Could NintendoLife please do a really detailed guide for the website eshop as it seems only the American website was properly updated?

Why couldn't they just open one shop under www.nintendo.com and then from the account locale determine the currency etc.

Or do www.nintendo-europe.com/eshop or something like that and make that for all European countries.

I can find some games to purchase digitally through the nintendo.co.uk website, but it's really difficult to find anything and navigate. The american website looks amazing compared to the UK/European one.

Re: Hurrah, Miitomo Is Now Available In The West

Kolzig

Got the apk from Android Police's apkmirror.com, but really sucks regarding to the regional blocking. Hopefully Nintendo opens this soon so it doesn't become another eternal regionally available thing for just some people.

Re: Miitomo Trends on Twitter as Nintendo's Charm Strikes Again

Kolzig

Really sucks that it's region blocked. I have the apk of Miitomo and it works alright, but when trying to link it to my Finnish Nintendo Account, it tells me that my country of residence is wrong.

In Nordic countries we use english anyway in apps so they should just release this now. I will definitely not even try it out if they try to force to use Finnish language in the app only.

Re: Nintendo's Official Website eShop Purchases Are Up and Running

Kolzig

Does this website for eShop purchases actually exist for all European countries or is again some localized crap? Since I can't seem to find anything else except the direct link to Flipnote Studio 3D.

I am from Finland and we have a localized Nintendo webpage done by the Nordics distributor Bergsala and it does not have any shop interface so is there some generic shop site for European customers? I'd like to try out if there is some shopping cart functionality for multipurchase or do we still need to buy each game separately one by one.

Re: Nintendo's Gold Coin Prices Point the Way to Freebies

Kolzig

They really need to implement the shopping cart functionality to 3DS, Wii U and web eShops.

Otherwise that point reward range is just crazy.

They already have a wishlist, so why not also a shopping cart for full experience.

Also, in the left side menu you can see the option "Redeem a point card" which means what was mentioned in Nintendo's slides presentation a few months ago. The physical game rewards will come in the future. I'd hope that it's already in place by the time Star Fox Zero arrives. Most likely the old Club Nintendo points cards will be replaced by My Nintendo cards.

Re: Reminder: Flipnote Studio 3D Debuting in Europe as My Nintendo Account Incentive

Kolzig

Shame that it is the gimped western version of it. I tested it once and don't really see any point for it since there is no Miiverse integration, there is no sane way to share created Flipnotes.

It should be community based and have proper internet connection to Flipnote galleries. The world is filled with amazing artists that could make some awesome animations with this. I can't create anything, but I'd like to download and see other peoples creations.

Re: Enhanced Digital Store With Over 2,000 Games Launching Alongside My Nintendo This Week

Kolzig

Where is the store in Europe actually, is there some one unified webpage for it? I only found the Flipnote Studio 3D page through My Nintendo's link, but otherwise I can't find any shop page.

Is it under UK for whole Europe or how does this work? Our localized Finnish website is just the local distributor Bergsala's page that is nothing like the normal Nintendo webpages.

I would like to test if there is some shopping basket functionality so that you can buy more than one game at a time for better integration of the gold points rewards.

E: Ok, I found somehow hidden under a pile of webpages and webpages the singular pages in Europe for the games that can be bought. The price range is dumb since many games are 9.99€ so you will only get 10 gold points when you should get 20 points. They really need to add that shopping cart functionality in to the 3DS, Wii U and web eshops. I won't be buying much anything before the shopping cart is included.

Re: The Nintendo DSi Shop Shuts Down Next Year

Kolzig

There are some DSi games that I would like to buy and play. For example Wayforward's couple of Mighty series games. Also Dark Void Zero was one interesting.

I haven't bought those since DSi is so restricted that the games are hardware locked to one console and can't even be transferred apparently to another console if I would want to. Also there are no discounts in the DSi shop and the games are a bit over priced. I hope for a 3DS re-release version for better integration.

Re: My Nintendo and Its Rewards Are Live

Kolzig

@improviser

I was hoping the same since I never got to be part of the real Club Nintendo. I have over 50 eShop games bought and I kind of hope now that I had not bought any of those since there is no retrospective way of getting the gold points.

Re: My Nintendo and Its Rewards Are Live

Kolzig

Is there already the possibility in the browser web eshop to buy games in a shopping cart so you can buy many at the same time?

Otherwise the gold points system is stupid because of the way the price ranges have been put. A game with a price of 9.99 should give you 20 gold points and not 10. One cent cheat.

And I really hope they start making more missions to be done, I already did all mine and since because of Nintendo's decision I don't have Miitomo in Finland etc. then there is no way to get more. Next week I can only get 60 points more because of the weekly things. Since the points disappear after six months for some weird reason, then it will take forever to get points for Zelda Picross and/or Warioware Touched on 3DS.

I can only get 1560 more platinum points in six months unless they make many many more missions.

Re: My Nintendo and Its Rewards Are Live

Kolzig

I am mostly pissed that I can't get retroactively anything out of My Nintendo, since Finland was for reasons unknown never part of Club Nintendo officially, I got no benefits for digitally bought games.

Also I was such a stupid guy that I went and bought Starfox 64 last week on Virtual Console. Only after buying the game I realized that I don't get anything from My Nintendo, but now people who buy it from yesterday onwards get all the benefits. Really annoying.

Also, did you guys notice that there is in the menu a Redeem a point code section. This very likely is the thing that comes in the future latest with NX, hopefully with also this year's Wii U and 3DS games, meaning the physical games points cards like in the old Club Nintendo system.

Re: My Nintendo and Its Rewards Are Live

Kolzig

Finland here reporting!

Just linked my NNID to my Nintendo Account and logged in to My Nintendo. Damn that Zelda Picross platinum points gathering will take forever since there are just so few Platinum missions available.

I need to contact Nintendo and ask why is it even in this Nintendo Account that the account history starts in december 2013 and everything I bought before that on my 3DS is only visible in my 3DS account history, but not in Wii U NNID history or this new Nintendo Account history. I would like my full history to be available.

I also went and remote put Flipnote Studio 3D to be downloaded into my 3DS at home. Will be fun to see if it really downloaded when I get back home.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Wants Us to Download More and Move On From Discs - Will It Work?

Kolzig

Digital full game pricing needs to go way down, not just on Nintendo's eShop, but on PSN as well.

It's insane to have to pay for a digital purchase more than for the disc version, it should be completely opposite.

And of course in order for digital to really work, Nintendo needs to open up the system and remove the hardware locking of the accounts. It needs to be more open so that you can easier manage what you own on your own consoles.

Re: Pokkén Tournament Demo Comes Out Fighting On The European Wii U eShop

Kolzig

It was an interesting demo and it looked really awesome. Very crisp and detailed. How many characters are in the game of the 700+ Pokemons?

Pokemon franchise however is not for me. It holds nothing special of value. If it was an open world game for Wii U, I'd buy it out of interest though.

The intro video looked amazing with the villages etc. Would be amazing to travel around in a proper world freely. Then I might get deeply involved with Pokemon franchise and to know the lore.

Re: Feature: Exciting Wii U and 3DS Games to Play in Spring and Summer 2016

Kolzig

I really really hope Sega brings the 3D Classics Collection from M2 to Europe as well. Or at least Puyo Puyo 2 and Power Drift as digital releases.

Awesome to see Mutant Mudds Super Challenge coming to 3DS and Wii U in both Eu and Americas at the same time and with cross purchase enabled. I just hope Jools would release Moon Chronicles also.
