Update:
Nintendo has confirmed special events to celebrate the download landmark.
To celebrate Miitomo reaching 10 million users, Nintendo will run a special 10-day "Celebrating 10 Million Users!" promotion between 29th April and 8th May.
Original Article:
Miitomo launched in mid-late March, depending on the region, to eagerly awaiting fans around the world. Many wondered how Nintendo's first step into the world of smart devices would go over, especially considering that this one didn't leverage a particularly popular IP and wasn't strictly speaking a "game". However, it seems that Miitomo has done exceedingly well in terms of global performance, and Nintendo was keen to turn attention to this.
In the recent financial briefing, it was revealed that Miitomo has surpassed 10 million users worldwide. Considering this was its grand entrance to the new market, Nintendo is right to be celebrating this success, and it seems intent on keeping the momentum going. The briefing also mentioned that more apps will be 'continuously released', possibly pointing towards a more consistent stream of Nintendo software on smart devices:
Also, for our smart device business, following Miitomo, we will continuously release new apps in order to expand the revenue base as a business.
Here's the tweet:
What do you think? Have you been enjoying Miitomo? What Nintendo IP would you like to see next as an app? Drop us a comment in the section below.

Meanwhile in Finland...
(silence)
Honestly, I don't like where this is going.
I think their use of enjoyed is a little over the top. It's a means to an end for platinum points. I can't be the only one who thinks this.
@Enigk I really don't want to change my clothes in Miitomo everyday, but I do. Guess why
Is that every Wii U owner then?
@Snader Beacuse you're a diva
I thought it was 5 or 6 games throughout the year, not a continuous rollout of new apps. I have a real bad feeling about this.
I'm still using Miitomo way too much every day... it's hilarious
I just hope they would release it officially globally instead of the limited regional stupidity.
@Kolzig That would be awesome if Nintendo could do that. In the Nordic countries we get most of our stuff from uk... but that doesn't work on phones.
I bet miitomo has less than 49k user, the app sucks so bad
Yeah, right, worldwide. It's only released in few countries
I think it likely that "continuously" might not be exactly what the original speaker had in mind. That's a translation, right? Could the actual meaning have been, "we will continue to release new apps.."? Just a thought.
I still use Miitomo for the points. I've gotten tired of the questions - most of my answers are "Stuff." I do like my ninja costume, though.
I still can't get the thing to sync to my iPhone. I keep getting an unexpected error.
Regardless, does anyone even still play this? I had it on my iPad, and I got bored of it in less than a week...
its ok but like a lot of people I only use it to accrue points, I already have waroware now im saving up for zelda picross cant complain as its free!
I actually enjoy the game quite a lot. Answering questions, and hearing things about my friends is really addictive in a weird sense. I love it so much lol
The app is pretty much dead, all those accounts are basically to farm points faster.
Sweet! If I had a smartphone (or if my tablet worked with the app), I would add to that number.
My two kids and myself have already deleted it from our 4 devices we downloaded it on. How many else have done the same?
Hopefully, the next mobile apps have staying power. Miitomo was good for only a day or two, after that it was pretty tedious and pointless.
@Minish All of Nintendo's games are only released in a couple of countries. If you look e.g. at the Smash Bros. activity map you'll see that only a small percentage of all people worldwide are fortunate enough to be able to enjoy Nintendo's games.
@KoopaTheGamer You mean meanwhile in Asia.
When I changed clothes earlier I got my photo taken....
Sooooo scandalous!!!
Congrats to the success of Miitomo!
Well done Miitomo.
I only use Miitomo for Platinum Points. The problem with this is that a lack of another app for the next 6 months means that the only ways to get Platinum Points for the next 6 months are weekly bonuses and Miitomo! Yay?
I do farm Miitomo for the points, but also quite enjoy it. I think the quality of the experience depends on your friends and how they interact with the app. It's been nice getting to know my StreetPass groups a little better.
I do my 3 questions per day and the clothing change to get the points and that's it. And I don't even really answer the questions. I just put a . or an emoticon as an answer. Miitomo was so exceedingly boring, I just went back to Tomodachi life, and it's really been a lot of fun this 2nd time around too!
10 mil downloads means nothing if only 5% of that 10 mil actually still use the app. I had 10 friends when Miitomo launched and every single one of them dropped off the app in less than 2 weeks. I just pop in every other day to change my clothes and answer the questions for points.
