Miitomo has now been available in the West for around three weeks, and Nintendo has made the first move in linking the smart device app with a current day hit. It's launching a range of Splatoon-related promotions and content with the app, while also encouraging fans to retweet key messages.
First of all, between now and 26th April Nintendo is looking for retweets of the following tweets or any messages from these official accounts with the #Miitomo_Splatoon_RT hashtag.
The promotion has already earned more than 10,000 retweets, ensuring Miitomo owners will get an Inkling Boy Wig, while 20,000 retweets (which seems inevitable) will add an Inkling Girl wig.
Moving on, from 27th April to 29th May Splatoon stages will be added to Miitomo Drop, with the following items up for grabs.
The following badges will be available in the same window from the Miitomo Shop.
Finally, there'll be Ink Tank items arriving on My Nintendo on 27th April, redeemable in Miitomo.
It's no surprise that Nintendo is combining Splatoon with Miitomo - the Wii U shooter has been a notable success for the company over the past year.
Will you be jumping into Miitomo to get these Splatoon goodies? Let us know, and don't forget to retweet the tweets near the top of this article.

Sweet! I know I'll be getting one of those ink tanks!
Awesome. My tree, with shurikens stuck in it, outfit was starting to look so last week.
Well, here is to hoping the Miitomo Drop game is easier to land clothes than the ninja one. Either way, I love the idea.
Its interesting they waited a month before having Nintendo themed items and drop stages. Im excited about whats coming up in the future.
Let's see if that can revive the app. It's pretty much a source for MyNintendo points and nothing else right now.
@rushiosan i think you're using the app wrong if you think the point of it is clothing for your Mii.
Still sucks that they haven't released it globally.
Can't really care about news like these when it's meant for limited amount of people in select countries.
@Tsuchinoko The thing is: I'm having a hard time to find it useful or enjoyable in any other way. It's somewhat a "social media" app that struggles to bring anything interesting besides answering questions and commenting on such answers (ask.fm already did a similar approach). Changing clothes, customizing the Mii and things like that could have a real impact for me if extended beyond the app, like allowing you to use the very same avatar on your handheld and home consoles.
Well, maybe it will improve with the NX, who knows. Right now my profile is pretty much dead, nobody else I know uses it anymore... except, of course, MyNintendo farmers.
@Kolzig I just quit waiting and downloaded an US version to use with a foreign account. That's Nintendo at their best. Daily reminder that Wii U was officially released in Brazil years ago but the e-shop never reached the country.
UUUUUUUGH... I love Splatoon. Like, more than I should probably be legally permitted to. But Miitomo drop... Ew. I love Miitomo, I really do. That said, I typically just ignore Miitomo drop unless I have a free ticket. It's so rare that you win anything substantial, and candy is beyond worthless, it may as well just pop up with the words "Try again, chump" when your mii hits the floor. I'm not sure, if the machine is generous I might try for these, otherwise I'll probably just buy the ink tanks and badges.
@rushiosan Really? I've been using it with some friends for a good while, it's actually been pretty darn active. Ten minutes a day waiting for the bus to sort through the many answers, most of which begin with either "penis" or "Hitler" are made genuinely funny by the mii's innocent reactions.
@rushiosan Yep, Miitomo farmers, I'm one of them. I just downloaded WarioWare Touched with the platinum coins, never played it, so as long as I can keep getting stuff like that I'll keep farming. Oh yes, I'd like to use Miitomo for other things but for me it's plain boring after the first days. Even with real friends.
Well, I've seen how good the wig looks in Smash Bros., but I'll try to get everything else!
I ditched Miitomo a while back, to me it was nothing more than a platinum point generator for Twilight Princess Picross.
"Miitomo has now been available in the West for around three weeks"
No it has not, Miitomo is not available in Scandinavia, unless the author of this article believes that Scandinavia is not a part of the West. Is this some form of jealousy from the UK because Scandinavian schools and welfare continue to rank among the best in the world?
@EiserMeiser There's always an exception to the rule
@EiserMeiser I doubt it. They often over-generalise on this site.
@EiserMeiser "Is this some form of jealousy from the UK because Scandinavian schools and welfare continue to rank among the best in the world?" - wow, can someone get me a bandage for the burn?
I'm excluded because of two factors: I'm Norwegian and use Windows Phone.
Called it. I actually called it.

Eh. I only use Miitomo for Platinum Points but I do look forward to these items!
The items look cool but the Miitomo drop is not fun and I rarely win anything besides candy. To be honest, Miitomo is becoming stale for me. I'll probably continue to check in because of the points but it will not be because I'm having fun.
At least I'll be able to rock the cool boy wig (guess that's a thing now?) because that Miitomo Drop is... I haven't won anything in it yet. Except for crappy candies that I never use. (Ahhh, the joys of free to play...)
@Grumblevolcano I'm just using it to get points too, except I went for WarioWare Touched first and now I'm going for TP Picross
@Grumblevolcano Silly me. Here I was waiting impatiently for SFZ to release so Ntnedo could start talking up NX, but instead it looks like they'll be devoting all of their time and energy to Miitomo.
I played it everyday for two weeks, I have over 1500 platinum points.
After two weeks I have decided Miitomo is stupid and pointless and I have deleted it. As a Nintendo Fan Boy that has been there every since the NES, Nintendo is really letting me down for the first time.
I have no faith in the NX and it will probably be the first Nintendo product I do not buy at launch.
Well, miitomo sold me on Tomodachi Life at least. Miitomo drop is cheap as hell, but I still like messing around with the miifotos.
@rjejr
I also wish they would give us SOMETHING about the NX.
@EiserMeiser It's available in UK. UK is in the west. Therefore, it is available in the west. Is it available in every country that is in the west? No. Is it available in the west? Yes.
