Minecraft: Wii U Edition has been out for a couple months now, and many Nintendo gamers have since put in countless hours exploring its blocky environments. All the same, it's not a perfect version of the game, with many fans complaining about certain features that were absent from this release. Naturally, the game is a work in progress, and a new patch has just gone live that adds a hefty amount of extra stuff.
This update is the third to go out for the Wii U, and it brings the game up to par with the Xbox 360 version's 33rd patch. The full patch notes can be found here; it's quite an exhaustive list of additions and tweaks. There are new mobs, blocks, items, and biomes, and dozens of tweaks to existent materials. Alas, there's still no GamePad inventory management, but it's nonetheless nice to see Mojang continuing to improve this edition.
What do you think? Are you glad to see this update? What would you like to see added in future updates? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Once Gamepad inventory management is added, I plan to buy.
Hopefully they plan to implement Classic Controller support eventually. I'm glad they're up to speed with the 360/PS3 versions though.
It's not hard to add inventory management, I'm sure.
On the Wii U version, can you do online/local multiplayer?
@NinjaAceTrainer Up to 8 players I believe.
once the price drops by $12 i'll buy until then I'll probally get cube life: island survival.
Or wait for uCraft with a release date between NOW and NEVER.
Good stuff. Looking forward to hearing about the Nintendo-exclusive content that was mentioned early on.
Going to pick this up once it arrives on disc. I already have it and have played it to death on PC but it'll be nice to be able to play it with friends online who don't have the PC version. Going to pick up Story Mode once it comes out on disc too.
@NinjaAceTrainer 8 player online. 4 player local.
We still play Cube Life, so not in a hurry to pick this up. Will consider if/when it gets a discount.
@NinjaAceTrainer In addition to what everyone else said, you can play local multiplayer and online multiplayer simultaneously. For example: you can play 8 players with 2 consoles, 4 on each.
@Zerodactyl @jariw @SaKo thanks for the answers, maybe I'll get it now
I'll just stick with the pc version. So many more options, mod, texture packs, etc.
This is awesome, though I'd appreciate support for Classic Controllers. Having to get a Wii U Pro controller just to play this with my nephew is really inconvenient considering how pricey they are...
I understand the left+right stick clicks have functionality but still.
Still no Minecraft story mode Euope :-/

I'd like to see it on par w/ the Xbox360 price of $19.99.

Or on par w/ the PS3 price of $19.99.

$29.99 is too much for a download, I don't care how many skins they throw in. It's only $26.99 on PC and that game has a lifetime worth of mods to play with.
Does Wii U have a free demo yet, both Xbox360 and PS3 do? It needs a free demo to be considered on par with those versions.
Screen item management. 20 dollars then I'll consider it.
Funny thing is, I read something that the other versions get again a newer version on Monday?
@Kolzig Only PC is and that's 1.9 PC always gets updates first anyway.
@Zombo USED to get updates first. We got a patch a looooong time ago and it added nothing but bug fixes for realms. Pretty sure they're done with the PC since we haven't gotten anything for at least a year.
@Zoda_Fett 1.9 comes out tomorrow on PC dude.
@sWiTcHeRoO Considering the fact the Vita doesn't have click sticks I see no reason why the classic controller couldn't be used for the game.
@Smash_kirby That's exactly what I was thinking of. Hell, even the Pocket Edition uses only touch controls... there's no excuse :/
It needs these things in order of priority, Mahjong take note:
1. Gamepad inventory management.
2. Wii U Pro and Wii Remote with Nunchuck support.
3. At least 4x map sizes, placing it between 360 and Xbox One.
4. $19.99 MSRP
5. Physical disc release
6. Custom Nintendo map and character pack content.
