Nintendo has just released another new firmware update for the Switch. It bumps the hybrid system up to version 14.1.2.
According to the company's official support page, this latest update includes some general system stability improvements to once again enhanced the overall user experience. Here are the full patch notes:
Ver. 14.1.2 (Released June 13, 2022)
"General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience."
Nintendo dataminer OatmealDome has once again provided some extra insight about what's really going on behind the scenes. It reveals certain "OS components" have been updated (there are seemingly some potential bug fixes) and the "bad words list" for all languages has also been updated:
This update follows on from version 14.1.1 which was also a general system stability update. You can see the full history of Nintendo Switch updates in our guide:

I like how the article suggested there was some actual info here lol
I got baited and stabilized.
Firmware now ready for E3 direct
Just when things were feeling a bit wobbly, along comes a fresh dose of that good ol' Ninty Stabilizing Juice and WHAM! Solid as a rock.
@mereel Nintendo's big E3 title is a Switch Stability Checking app
Switch updates are basically meme now.
Just here for the stable jokes.
Themes and filters would be nice. C'mon Nintendo it's been 5 years.
My Switch is so stable it cured my Parkinson's disease
I just wanted to pop in here to say, thank you Nintendo.
Without your stability updates, I would've never moved out of my parents' basement. I was nothing. But Nintendo came in with the stability updates (slang for horse stables) and I've been able to achieve my greatest dream.
With all of these stables, I was able to move to farmland and become a horse farmer, and unfortunately while I now have less time to play on my Nintendo Switch, Nintendo is still nice enough to regularly give users stability updates. To all of the people who complain about stability, it's ok, not everyone needs to be a farmer, but it would be nice if you appreciated the kind charities from this great Japanese company. Sony, Microsoft, and Sega would never give us this much stables.
Thank you Nintendo. Without you, I wouldn't have gotten this far in life.
@Serpenterror Likely saving that feature for the New Super Nintendo Switch U.
Yay stability, now I can balance my Switch on a hatpin again.
I don't even know what else there would be tbh; I'm kinda happy with the UI now that we have folders.
@Bl4ckb100d ROFL
CONFIRMED: This means Silksong is releasing tomorrow after a Nintendo Direct.
I wish game developers cared as much about stability as Nintendo.
Removed - unconstructive
@Clammy atleast I know now to update my switch.
General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience, finally
In a World of instability Nintendo brings unlimited stability to a Switch near you either in your house or office or super yacht you can guarantee stability!!! Now Nintendo is working on development for World domination next! They have the technology...
The laziest release notes/patch descriptions...copy pasted from previous patch notes... They could've literally versioned up the FW without doing anything.
@Strictlystyles
I suppose giving out a breakdown of what each update is about is an improvement
@SteamEngenius I wouldn't bother if you don't have one of the older switch models can't see the Mariko or the oled ever getting modded unfortunately 👎🏻
I got Switch Rolled again
Removed - unconstructive
It's a wonder how they make it so stable without making it unstable while making it stable but making it unstable while it's very stable but unstable but stable.
I like these 😅
I think the update to version 14.1.2.3 will be the big one. 😂
With every update my Jenga skills increase!
Mmmm... stability
Call this a update? This isn't even close to a update.. I can get around this easily.
Come on. Make useful update. Like 14.2.5 so we can use headsets with mics on NS system to supportive and none supportive games. Even ones that don't support it can hear us in game if they using internet via. For example SWSH. Can communicate freely with others only if your within 2 feet of them.
Or major updates make it so we can create private voice chats to only friends an hope they use headsets god forbid. Love to communicate an have good laughs again. Make where we must have headset to communicate freely in voice chat groups. So we can play whatever we want an chat with friends across the world. Like Xbox 1 and Sony.
We need that. Especially if you have MMORPGs and you do have dead by daylight. Yet it's not voice chat supportive. It should be it's needed.
I found out that there were Hitler related filters when I tried to transfer Miis from my Wii U to the Switch, everyone worked except for the Mii I had made to be a villain, he was an angry man that may have bared a passing resemblance to Hitler, but I felt his existence was OK in that he was the Mii that was meant to be hated and picked on, a real punching bag in Smash. Anyway, I named this Mii: Adolf, and that wasn't a problem on the Wii U, however when it ried to transfer the Mii to the Switch, I was informed that it's name was unacceptable. And to that, I have to ask, really? I get it if the name was straight up Hitler, but Adolf is still a real name that as of 2018, 46,000+ people were known to still have the name. It leaves me with so many questions, like is that part of the filter disabled just for Germany where most people with the name Adolf live today?
My switch lite sits half disassembled on my desk, i stripped the last screw i needed to remove. Trying everything to get it out and install my new glacier blue shell. So when i get that figured out, guess I'll stabilize my switch!
@Clammy
you'll be missed.
Truly a breath of fresh air
Now my Switch does not need therapy. Thanks Nintendo. 😀
Still a long way until its as stable as the 3DS. That was keeping the world stable.
They discontinued it and everything is going to crap
Nintendo’s stable ocean strategy in action.
Don’t rock the boat, baby!
For some reason I found that word filter update funny.
Okay, where can I find the full swear list. Can you imagine that board meeting. Just exec's shouting profanities while the intern writes them down! 😂 "Don't forget *********** ***********! "
At least these updates are actually stable. The recent bunch of PS4 ones have routinely NS-16157-0'd my Vita's access to the console for weeks on end, to the point where the ability to update the OS via Remote Play has become a thing of the past.
@Clammy,
Please come back, articles like this are the equivalent of putting your tongue on a live battery terminal, you know you shouldn't, but you cant help yourself.
@Strictlystyles Switch Pro confirmed now?
@Evanga the update turned my switch into a switch pro. Runs in 4k now 😭
The YouTubers were right. We got an update this week, direct to our consoles.
@duffmmann i live in german part of swiss speaking switzerland i got banned from facebook for a week my crime. I mentioned in a comment my grandfather name was Adolf. My german friend also got same with his still alive grandfather.
Nintendo! A Stable Family Entertainment You Can Trust!
@Anguspuss
The former Frankfurt and Gladbach coach's name is Adolf (Adi) Hütter. Can he even sign up for a Facebook or a Nintendo account?
The Switch’s stability serves as a beacon of hope in these uncertain times. Things seem to be falling apart. Not because change is coming. Not to give way for some brighter tomorrow. But because of incompetence, old fashioned principles being out of date. High profile people showing their true colours. Yet despite all the turmoil, I know I can lean on my Switch. Thank you.
Time for a hardware update?
hdolfaitler? How about pladimirvutin?
SO, I see none of that stability went in to the eshop. Still lagging, freezing and crashing like it always does.
You know, I think these updates are really meant to further fight against modding.
@YoshiAngemon
Unfortunately, you're more than likely correct. Once again Nintendo fails to see the forest though the trees and while they try to fight emulation and pleasing their legal team, they ignore the more important matter of making sure their customer base is satisfied ie their online service.
@Serpenterror It used to be themes and folders we needed, now it's themes and filters.
It's a shame Nintendo don't do Formula 1. They could give Lewis Hamilton a very stable car.
My switch is so stable now that I can safely balance the entire console on my pinkie finger with Tourette syndrome.
Were the USB Drivers finally updated?
I have been experiencing drops in communication on my "Official Licensed" PDP wired controller.
You know the one with the headphone jack, but not so good D-pad. I can't play Tetris, or crotch-fly in Super Mario World with it. Also, despite it being wired only, it has no vibration. A lot of compromises just for a headphone jack.
I wouldn't understand the argument for wireless controllers not to have some sort of rumble, just to save battery power. People would buy 2 or 3 of a companies product to play, while the other one chargers. Rumble has been a standard feature, that Nintendo themselves started with the N64 controller. I'm actually surprised the 3DS did not get any support for rumble.
My switch is so stable I can leave it balanced on a table's corner like those balancing bird toys
Nothing new here and i LOVE it!
Why can't they fix the loading times in the eShop?!
@ga3tr0n the eShop probably is built around a strict limitation of ram & to allow suspending your game, while searching the eshop. They should of forced the need of all games to be closed to use the eShop. This would allow for more Ram.
The swear list has been updated?
Clucking bell!!!
@Vivid_viking Well-oiled beef hooked.
@tadams587 That would have been so good.
Ah, yes. hdolfaitler, leader of the razinegime. I remember him from the bistory hooks.
"General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience."
Thank god!!!. I was nervous, fearing it was going to be instability. We're the best around! No one's ever gonna keep us down!
Thanks to OatmealDome for the actual notes.
@Sinton loooool
@Bobb lool thats funny
I was in the middle of playing GoVacation when my Switch wanted to update for what I'm now finding out was because it wanted to become stable for me. Well I was in the middle of a virtual vacation so that stability had to wait until I went to another resort.
@duffmmann Most people named Adolf in Germany were born before 1945, after that it dropped in popularity significantly for some reason
But it still kind of sucks if you want to play Switch sports with your grandfather.
I feel calm , serene and have suddenly taken a balanced, clear view on my worries and tasks in life. That is what a Nintendo Life stability update article does for you.
Heck, call the next Nintendo console the Nintendo Stability instead of Switch Pro or Switch Advance
Something caught my attention after the update. The right joy con discharges faster than the left. Anyone else have this problem?
As pointless as this article. Thankyou
They need to fix the headphones issue over USB-C. Particularly with AKG/Samsung USB-C headphones. They dont register as headphones when plugged into the USB-C port. They used to work, but not since the 14.0.0 update...
Everyone seems to be really happy about this stability update in here. I don't get it🤔. I never had any stability problems with mine.
But I am happy that more people will experience that after updating. Looks like a lot of people haven't been so fortunate as me😔
What about A Dwarf Fiddler? Too close for comfort?
Last update, I was like “Okay, there’s NO way they can make this any more stable.” But wow was I wrong. Now, the Switch firmware could be the base of a skyscraper with its stability. Detonate a thousand hydrogen bombs on it, and the Switch will make the bombs explode. Cast it down to the center of the earth, and it WILL become the center of the earth. Fire it into the surface of the sun, and it will become the sun. There’s no stopping the Switch and its stability.
