Re: Hitoshi Yamagami Talks a Bit About Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem's Conception

Jaeger

@MitchVogel "In all seriousness, I become less and less interested in this the more I hear about it. This doesn't really look like either franchise in the title and I was initially thinking it would be."

Couldn't have said it any better, though I personally didn't care as soon as they showed the very first gameplay trailer. Just looks like too much weeaboo stuff with nothing showcasing either series except SMT's battle system, if anything.

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th December (North America)

Jaeger

Nothing here. Was considering Terraria, but not for that price. FRN also looks boring and repetitive, don't see the fun in a racing game that has ridiculously linear courses.
I may get SW Heist to have something to play on 3DS again while I'm on my way to and from work but $16.99 is too much when I've got eShop funds saved up exclusively for the Smash DLC since November... I might get it if I get paid soon though, the price doesn't sound awful considering Dig was good. I just hope there's enough content to merit that price, cause Dig was good but way shorter than I initially expected.

Re: Terraria Digs Its Way Into the 3DS eShop on 10th December

Jaeger

No price for this one? Kinda sucks considering FRN and SWH gave us pricing along with the release dates, but oh well. I just hope it's somewhere along the cheap price of the PC version, it wouldn't make any sense to have it any more than that (like seriously, all this time the Amazon listing has had it for $29.99, that can't be the actual price right?).

Re: Video: Build the Buzz for Xenoblade Chronicles X With This Extended Launch Trailer

Jaeger

I watched this without knowing it'd have spoilers, though I kinda figured just from how some scenes looked a bit fishy in some ways... that's really annoying how they preemptively show things in pre-release trailers :. I'm not really expecting the story to be amazing or anything but I'd still like to experience it and its cutscenes firsthand on my playthrough than having so many things spoiled with a single trailer before the game's even out...

I think the one thing I dislike the most from this trailer is the voice acting, though. Everything about the game seems fantastic but those voices don't feel as good as the first.

Re: Triple Power Coming to Super Mario Maker With Paper Mario Costume

Jaeger

They look a bit squished together and it looks weird. Still colorful and decent looking though!

Also am I the only one that thought the title was referring to a new power-up coming with "Triple Power"? Kinda bummed now that it just nods to the costume, we're in desperate need of more variety in power-ups, and all games after SMB3 have plenty to offer...

Re: Review: Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros. (3DS)

Jaeger

Mario & Luigi games are great and I had a huge feeling this one was going to be no exception, so I'm glad I was right. Definitely picking this up when it comes out, January 22 is enough of a wait for me so I can have a chance to save up. Plus Xenoblade X is going to consume too much of my time anyway.

Re: Editorial: It's Not Fun to Criticise Nintendo Games, But It's Been Unavoidable in 2015

Jaeger

I'm 100% on board with you. 2015, unfortunately, is full of ridiculously disappointing games from Nintendo. The only few that I've enjoyed thoroughly have been Super Mario Maker, MH4U... and that's really it. All I'm looking forward to now is more Smash DLC, Xenoblade X next Friday and M&L: Paper Jam; with Pokken, FF: Explorers and Zelda U being maybes.

With Nintendo pretty much giving up on Wii U with the upcoming NX it's hard to feel invested anymore, but I'm definitely going to get the few good games out of this and next year's near-shovelware entries.

Re: Feature: Reflecting On Three Years With The Wii U - Part One

Jaeger

I'm honestly disappointed that Nintendo is coming out so soon with another entry and ditching the Wii U just like that, it almost makes my purchase feel worthless.

I really like how convenient the Gamepad is (I prefer it as a display a lot more than a TV) and how cool some of its features are, like being able to control any TV with it, playing console games wirelessly (even if not at a long distance), among other things as well.
I just wish it would have much better games on it, its library right now is incredibly lackluster and this year's games don't help at all (except for Xenoblade, in my opinion). Next year barely has anything interesting enough other than Pokken (again, barely), and all other attention is just focused on 3DS games. It's really sad.

I'm hoping that the NX doesn't just full-on replace the Wii U honestly. That'd feel like a spit on the face from Nintendo when they make a system that they'll just kill in 3 years and have hardly any worthwhile games for it.

Re: Poll: Did The Nintendo Direct Comeback Fire on All Cylinders?

Jaeger

@maukenboost "Can't be excited for Twilight Princess HD, it didn't look much different honestly"

My thoughts exactly. It looks extremely lazy if you ask me. A simple port would've been fine. It just looks like they're continuing to avoid full-on Gamecube on Virtual Console at this point.

Re: Poll: Did The Nintendo Direct Comeback Fire on All Cylinders?

Jaeger

It's not mentioned in the poll, but I was mostly happy with the mention of the 4 data packs Xenoblade X will be getting. I've been wondering about them for the longest time to see if North America would get them before release in December 4 like Japan did, and I'm glad they let us get them right away that same day. Since they're big in file size I've been wanting the ability to download them well before the game's release so I can be fully prepared beforehand.

Other than that, this direct sucked. Again. Don't care for anything they mentioned besides the XBX details and to a lesser extent, Cloud coming to Smash. His addition is confusing but I welcome any newcomers as long as they're not indies or King K. Rool, so hey. I think I'm mostly indifferent on the last bit with Smash because I was expecting Cloud to come out that same day. Nintendo making us wait ANOTHER month when the ballot has already ended a while back was so stupid and annoying that it killed any excitement I could've had over Cloud.

Actually, I also kinda liked Reggie mentioning Iwata at the beginning. It feels nice that they didn't ignore him passing away, and at the same time he quickly left it at that instead of dwelling on it for a long portion of the broadcast. The short mention of him was good enough, I feel like.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Is Receiving A High-Definition Face Lift

Jaeger

Yeah, no. This hardly looks any different other than it being brighter and having some slightly (barely) upgraded textures on things.

The models still look outdated and overall doesn't feel like it really is HD at all. Worst thing is it's probably gonna sell for full retail price much like the 3D remakes did, when that's not fair at all, especially considering the fact that this barely looks any different.

Re: The 3DS Is Getting A New Puzzle & Dragons Game

Jaeger

PaD is cool so maybe this new entry will get me to buy it. I decided to hold off on the Mario+PaD version here in America as I needed the money, so maybe I can just wait for this sequel instead. Not in any hurry either.

Re: More Details Emerge on How Nintendo Accounts Will Work

Jaeger

Wishlist for this revamped 'Club' system:

  • Give it an achievement system. Having different ways to play a game and getting somewhat rewarded for it with a milestone is really nice. Hyrule Warriors kinda does this, but something akin to Steam achievements being jotted down the way they are would be so much nicer for showing them off.
  • For the love of god don't give NA the shorter end of the stick. The American CN was absolutely terrible, it felt really unfair how EU and JP got way nicer physical goodies while NA was just lol terrible eShop games (which would repeat even) and really boring merch.
  • Going off from what the article says, PLEASE go through with the idea to give points from just playing games. It's not fair that certain fans that don't have the money to spend on games constantly, have to miss out on goodies from a company (and their series) that they like. You don't need to purchase EVERYTHING to be a fan, reward people for making the most out of the games they do have, even if points awarded are less than when registering a game.

Aside from these things I kinda hope they allow users to change NNID names because I've wanted to do it, but if I do so by calling Nintendo I will keep my digital purchases and all, but I kinda lose all my save data and it's not worth it. I hope something is done about that cause I have way too many games where this would hit me a bit too hard.
