Re: Rumour: Fresh Sources Suggest Shovel Knight Is Indeed Digging His Way To Super Smash Bros.

@DarthNocturnal "Third, and I say this as a Golden Sun fan meself... but after the long hiatus and then a lukewarmly-received game (followed by yet another hiatus), I think Golden Sun has dropped into niche territory. It has better chances of getting a rep then, say, Urban Champion, but less so then other Nintendo AND non-Nintendo reps."

And yet we have gotten the Ice Climbers with only one game under their belt, Mr. Game & Watch who barely anyone knew of around Melee's time, same with R.O.B. and other series in Smash. That argument holds 0 water.
Isaac was acknowledged as an assist trophy in Brawl and even has GS music going for him. He's missing in Smash 4 as an assist (but still has his Brawl music and a new one in Palutena's Temple), it's only fair to assume he could be playable later down the road since he's not already in the game in some other form. Not only that, but Nintendo is acknowledging the series a fair bit by bringing the first two games as VC titles on Wii U. I can only imagine the DS one is coming soon if The Lost Age being rereleased is any indication. It looks a bit like how M&L: PiT got into the VC some time after Paper Jam got announced.
I'd still rather wait and see before blindly jumping to conclusions based on little details like those though.

Re: Rumour: Fresh Sources Suggest Shovel Knight Is Indeed Digging His Way To Super Smash Bros.

Jaeger

@Lalivero Indie characters shouldn't get priority over Nintendo's original characters. That's the problem. The game is for Nintendo all-stars, not for third party characters to jump in for the hell of it. The only ones we've had in Brawl and Smash 4 have been picked carefully and make AT LEAST a degree of sense, again, though, barring Snake. Indie characters don't have any of that going for them.

Re: Review: Runbow (Wii U eShop)

Jaeger

@crimsontadpoles Same here. It was kinda boring for me. I wouldn't mind playing/buying it if I had plenty of people to play with (offline or online) but I don't, so I'll pass.

Re: Rumour: Fresh Sources Suggest Shovel Knight Is Indeed Digging His Way To Super Smash Bros.

Jaeger

@3Daniel It's celebrating Nintendo's all-star characters. Nintendo characters, old and new all come together to fight. Nintendo helping out the indie scene is more of a business strategy, I wouldn't relate it to the characters being under Nintendo's wing all of a sudden. Indies are still, in fact, multi-platform now.

@NintendoFan64 I'm not saying that. I'm referring to non-Nintendo characters and their chances. They don't deserve it. I'd rather have a more deserving character that would turn out to be an interesting character FROM NINTENDO instead of an outsider. I don't mind the third parties in Smash because they're at least iconic characters and were part of Nintendo's history AND gaming history as a whole (barring Snake for only 1 Metal Gear Solid game before Brawl's release). Shovel Knight and Shantae don't feel like they're quite on that scale.

Re: Rumour: Fresh Sources Suggest Shovel Knight Is Indeed Digging His Way To Super Smash Bros.

Jaeger

@Nintendo69 I know right? I find it even more annoying that people want these indies or third party characters in Smash just because "lol I like the character!!!" instead of, y'know, someone that'd actually be an interesting fighter that would make sense.

Smash is a NINTENDO all-stars fighter, not a cesspool of random characters in a game with Smash's mechanics. If people want that they might as well play Super Smash Flash 2, Super Smash Bros Crusade or other fanmade crap that has rosters with ridiculous choices that'd never really see the light of day in the official games.

I love Shovel Knight, Shantae and other characters/games like that a lot, don't get me wrong, but it's still annoying that they're pushed this much. They don't deserve it, a Nintendo character deserves the spot way more than outsider characters do.

Re: Hands On: Here's What The 3DS Version Of Terraria Looks Like

Jaeger

@Spectra_Twilight Ooh! Really nice to hear, then. I don't really care that 3DS Terraria won't have online, I don't mind it as a bite-sized on-the-go option to kill my boredom (especially when I've been needing a game like that).

I'll leave the Wii U version for more serious grinding and possible online gameplay.

Re: Nintendo Not Looking To Churn Out Yearly Sequels To Its Core Franchises, Feels DLC Keeps Games Feeling Fresh

Jaeger

@ikki5 Ehh, it's all optional anyway so you don't have to get anything if it bothers you so much. Besides, DLC has been coming out sporadically, which I feel gives consumers some time to simmer down and enjoy the current DLC and then be prepared for the next one.

I've bought Dream Land, Roy, Lucas and Ryu, then Peach's Castle and Hyrule Castle and I'm happy with all of it. I even bought the first set of Mii costumes while I was still into using Swordfighter, but I don't care anymore so I didn't get 2 and 3.

Seeing as how replayable Smash is, I don't care to pay the DLC prices when the content is good and will last me plenty. I also kinda share my Wii U for tournament setups, but even then I got the stuff I got because I wanted to. Again, if these so-called unfair prices bother you then don't get anything. It's not even that bad for the quality of what they create.

Re: Nintendo Not Looking To Churn Out Yearly Sequels To Its Core Franchises, Feels DLC Keeps Games Feeling Fresh

Jaeger

@ikki5 Hardly. I think the prices are fair, and even then they're all optional. You get to support the devs for putting in the extra time for each character. If you don't care for the characters then don't get them, it's that simple. They're all worth about as much as a fast food meal, if you can shell out the money for stuff like that then you can do the same for entertainment content that'll last you a good while.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Tackles Criticisms of Bonus Features in Games

Jaeger

@DarthNocturnal Awakening didn't go to deep into anime material other than the really generic anime-tropes for character personalities. With Fates they just cranked it up way too many notches to the point that it's littered with awkward weeaboo-pandering content and over the top anime-ish character designs.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Tackles Criticisms of Bonus Features in Games

Jaeger

@justastone So just because it's done before it's excusable? That's incredibly stupid logic.

It's awful then and it's awful now. Any normal person should be bothered when it comes to rape and incest, especially when it's on a goddamn Nintendo first party title/series. It's incredibly disappointing and whether it was present before or not doesn't matter to me, it's still disgusting.

The weeaboo-geared features only help make this whole thing worse, optional or not.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Tackles Criticisms of Bonus Features in Games

Jaeger

@OlicityBlows Agreed.
This whole Pokemon Amie-esque feature is really awkward and weird. It doesn't help that the game has a feature for looking at half naked models of the characters, or how there's incest and even mention of rape in the Japanese version.

Fates is just incredibly disgusting and disappointing in way too many ways. I was interested when they showed the first trailer but everything shown after has just been one trainwreck after another. It just feels like they're trying to pander to awkward weeaboos, as redundant as that sounds.

Re: Review: Mercenaries Saga 2: Order Of The Silver Eagle (3DS eShop)

Jaeger

I got it the moment this article was made. As soon as the game was shed to light (at least for me) with that article it made me check it out and I'm enjoying it quite a lot so far.

The game is neither too bad or too good. I'd say it's a bit barebones but for what it is and for the price, it's a really solid time waster, which is something I've been needing badly on my 3DS with my low budget and library drought as of late. I can just pull out my 3DS waiting for the bus or something and kill some time level grinding, leveling up my units' skills and progressing the story whenever I can. As many others say you seriously cannot go wrong for the price. The game is simple and easy to get back to, and for being so cheap you can't really ask for more than what it does.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Full Gamescom Line-Up

Jaeger

Oh damn, they're gonna have Terraria playable on 3DS? Hopefully someone gets footage of that, I'm really interested in getting it on 3DS (and/or Wii U) but I want to see if it plays comfortably first.

Re: PewDiePie Fans May Recognise "Coolest Puzzle Game Ever" Dreii, Which Is Coming To Wii U Soon

Jaeger

"You'd be forgiven for having not heard about indie game Drei yet, but we hate to break it to you - it's kind of a big deal. YouTube megastar PewDiePie declared it the "coolest puzzle game ever", so there you go!"

Except PewDiePie is garbage and his popularity =/= his words hold any water. It's like this article's writer knew this fire would burn and yet they spilled gasoline all over it anyway.

This game's ideas sound interesting though, but I'm going to wait a while before saying it looks good or bad, and I sure as hell am not watching CancerPie's any views.

Re: Poll: Where Do You Stand on Miiverse and Its Planned Changes?

Jaeger

Miiverse is too barebones, restrictive, and full of annoying immature people on par with deviantArt's userbase, so I don't really care for it. As @A01 said, though, I like its implementation within the games where you can sometimes see neat doodles or get tips from other players (like Yoshi's Woolly World, SM3DW, etc.).

I only really use Miiverse to post a screenshot from a game I'm playing so I can get a source image from the game, as I lack a capture device. After I get the screenshot I save it to my PC then delete the Miiverse post, as I used it for myself and not to start discussion or anything within the site.

Re: Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Passes Away Aged 55

Jaeger

I can't even believe this... Regardless, I hope he rests in peace. He's easily the only likable head of any company. It's sad to hear about the man on top of my favorite video game company dying so suddenly that it's just impossible to take it in...

Re: Cube Life Update To Bring Local Multiplayer And Lots More

Jaeger

@Jayvir Which is why they have the game at a discounted price and even gave away codes on release.

They know the game isn't fully fleshed out yet, so they're providing it as it is but at a lower price before increasing it once they've taken care of things with the player's help. I think it's worth the price right now, it could still use a few more items, features and fixes other than the ones in this list but it's a great start and I can only hope they continue to give this game more longevity by fleshing it out accordingly.

Re: Cube Life Update To Bring Local Multiplayer And Lots More

Jaeger

Good to hear the new features are coming soon, I've been wondering about them. I stopped playing the game because of certain issues, but they just so happen to be getting fixed so I might make up some space to get back to playing. Definitely glad durability and hunger+thirst are being fixed up because they both drop way too fast and it's not that easy to even get resources in the first place. It felt way too tedious to play at all.

Hoping they add Classic Controller support so I could try to get co-op that way, as I don't have a Wii U Pro. Keep the updates coming @Cypronia, this game has some serious potential to be a good one, or rather even better!
