We're almost sad to see Mario Kart Tour's Berlin Tour wrap up. After all, it's forever blessed us with Lederhosen Luigi, as Nintendo made him the star character of that event. That will finish later today, but immediately after it wraps up, the upcoming Cat Tour is planned to go live.
We've not had many details about this new event so far, but considering Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury launches on Switch next month, we could be led to assume it ties into that release. All we know is that Nintendo is teasing the addition of a "purrticularly cute driver".
It's not been confirmed who the mysterious character is just yet, but we suspect it would be Cat Peach. Let's not forget she made her karting debut back in Mario Kart 8, so a return would be likely.
The Cat Tour starts today in the US at 10:00pm PT but UK players won't get it until tomorrow morning, going live at 6am GMT.
Will you be jumping in for this event? Let us know how you've found Tour so far in the comments.

particularly cute eh
Definitely Rover from Animal Crossing.
Why do Nintendo give this game so much attention dlc or events would be great for Mario 8 dx
I’m so angry. This game is free.
I'm so mad.
@Gs69 It's all about the money unfortunately. Guess all this gambling in this game brings them more money than DLC would for Mario Kart 8 DX.
@Yosher yeah I know but mk8dx is still riding high in the charts so the install base must be huge by now surely dlc would be profitable
Spoilers, but its Cat Peach. You can see her in the back behind Roy.
@Gs69 DLC would be great for a game that come out 7 years ago. Then release a full version with all the DLC and call it Mario kart 8 Deluxe Deluxed!!! 😅
It has to be cat peach then cat Mario or meow bowser
Don'tcha just love updates for some game you'll never bother playing (mobile, cough) when there's a perfectly good console begging for a current-gen iteration of the franchise (yes, I realize MK 8 still sells like crazy, but then users don't have a ton of options, do they)?
@WahooTime there are some people who are only just picking the game up hence the reason it’s still in the charts I personally had it on Wii u with the dlc and then I got it for switch so I had played all it had to offer my point is why give a mobile game such attention considering Nintendo were reluctant to release mobile games in the first place
@AtlanteanMan Mario Kart Tour is one of the most successful mobile games from Nintendo. It has lots of players. Just because YOU don't play it, doesn't make you superior or right.
MK8, as much as I like it, it's a 7-YEAR-OLD GAME. Why on earth they should make content for almost a decade-year-old game?!
I find it funny how you guys keep whining and whining and being arrogant while many people keep enjoying this game. You can't just let it go and move on.
You people are both funny and ridiculous.
@Gs69 also still have it on the wiiu (limited edition with blue shell) and all the dlc which was a great price. Fantastic dlc. Also have the switch version.
Maybe people play the free game in mobile then want something more so the buy MK8.
Mobile iOS/android market is massive
@AtlanteanMan Mario kart tour is a newer game. It’s just over a year old hence it’s still supported with updates. It’s a successful mobile game with a huge number of players.
Yes I don’t play Pokémon go but I don’t get upset when it gets updates
@DK-Fan I apologize if my post came across as "superior"; it wasn't my intent. I realize that this game is hugely successful and if it's someone else's cup of tea, more power to them. Just for me personally, I'll never bother with mobile games, regardless of which franchises are put on them. This isn't some form of platform "elitism", just a personal distaste for the business models that happen to be attached to many/most mobile titles. I don't wish to support or help to perpetuate that. Again, other folks' preferences and choices are their call.
Regarding MK8, I never suggested Nintendo should make new content for it at this point. I only wanted to throw my hat into the ring that I hope Nintendo will announce a proper, original MK entry for the Switch, that's all. Again I apologize for not clarifying my intent better, but I also think you may have read some things into my post that weren't there. Maybe I should have turned the sarcasm down a notch, because things tend to get lost in translation online.
CAT PEACH from Mario Kart 8
@WahooTime I didn't mean to criticize the fact that MK Tour is getting an update, nor Nintendo Life for writing an article about it. As I said in my post above, I'd just love to finally see some news regarding an original Switch entry for the franchise. Sorry that my OP missed the mark with regard to its intent.
I have been enjoying this game much more than Wii U and Switch versions. I have been playing it every day since almost a year!
@AtlanteanMan I agree. I bet we all want a new entry on switch but I guess with mk8 selling so well it just won’t happen.
I don't see why people have such a stick up their butt about people having a stick up their butt regarding MK8 DX content. The VAST majority of people who own that game didn't own it on Wii U, so those of us that still play it AS WELL AS the people that are relatively new to it would eat up some new tracks/karts/racers, no doubt about that. The people that take issue with that desire are hypocrites at best.
In addition, Switch is unlikely to see a new entry any time soon given how well 8DX is selling.
@antonio2244 What do you like more about it?
Calling it right now! It's going to be Cat Mario
The pun was right there: Mario Kat!
Edit: now I'm thinking about gravity rush, but that's the wrong website.
Cat Peach is in the image you posted, behind Roy, just zoom in.
@Gs69 Why does Nintendo give this game such attention, you ask??
Because Mario Kart Tour is utterly brilliant. Probably my favourite mobile phone game ever. Such a class game with amazing attention to detail and fantastic gameplay.
The Combo System single handedly changes everything about Mario Kart.
I’ve played it every day since launch in September 2019. The game deserves all the attention that Nintendo lavish on it.
@Ajnin I don’t doubt the quality at all it’s the fact that they don’t give as much attention to their console version which really is Nintendo’s core business they should be creating online events and such for mk8 dx they have sold millions of copies and it definitely deserves their attention the mobile game is great it’s just not as good as mk8
@DK-Fan
To be fair, Mario 3D World is about the same age as MK8 and is getting a new expansion.
Though obviously its a bit of an apples-oranges comparison, MKT can be monetized with loot boxes. If they did that in a console game people would freak out.
@Clyde_Radcliffe new content every two weeks, more characters (and alts), more incentive to play and get better scores, perfect your runs..
