@Grumblevolcano SNES, yeah, it's flat. But 64? 64 had the same thin but solid main story, and then a ton of lore, subplots, and backstory that were cohesive and made for an interesting solar system.
Then Adventures, Assault, and Command got off that and focused solely on the character interactions. Good and bad (mostly bad).
I don't care if you don't even hunt actual ducks any more, my lightgun trigger finger is itching like mad. Maybe it could be a hunting game still, one that teaches how to spot from long distances and shoot only specific kinds of animals, and why it's healthy to ecosystems to control overpopulation.
1 can be pretty brutal, though. Especially the second Wily Stage, I mean dang. Same thing with 2 - the Wily stage bosses are where the challenge is. 3 and 5 have the bloody Doc Robots and Dark Man with massive collision damage. 4 is just lengthy, but very reasonable! 6 is just easy. 7 and 8 are simple, but harder if you're doing a Buster-only run. Like 1, 9 has its GOTCHA's, but it's still reasonable like 4. Best one. 10, though, not only takes time to learn, but is white-knuckle every time to play on account of the midbosses or stage hazards. And the Hard Mode bosses add attacks that make them something else (plus Strike Man's stage turns dang near into a bullet hell shmup game).
Ice Cream Cone and Keychain deserve special mention. I don't mind Mega Alakazam, but to each their own.
I think it's high time for the next Pokemon game to introduce Extinction of various species - get rid of some of these awful designs, including select "Legendaries" that just look like clouds of gas.
This game doesn't need leveling, and neither did Dragon's Crown. It makes some sense in some RPG's, but in the context of LoZ, it makes none. The weapons already have levels - isn't that enough?
I'm really curious to see which retailer said "Hey, we want Rosalina exclusively."
I'd wager Target - they're frequent supporters of Nintendo's products, including the Super Mario Galaxy cards and random gatchas. Wal-Mart would mean Rosalina is SUPER popular.
Awful execution. The other ads are even more cringeworthy. The visual effects at the beginning were nice even though that sequence lasted way too long, and at least they showed how many games are compatible with them, that was good.
It didn't even try to make a main point out of being able to take your customized fighter on the go.
"...and those of you that played it but gave up mid-way through will take this opportunity to give the new version a try."
I stopped at the Zora section (tedious as all get out) during my only other replay on the Wii VC, so I'm actually interested to hear what all they've changed.
Although...I'm not sure I'm ready to do the Cremia Ranch segment again, especially if I happen to lose...
@Interneto She's just...awesome. And I think I'll leave my fandom at that. Anyway, the posters are neat. Just not a good fit for a married, 27-year old male. Like the recent plushes, any merch I get, including Rosalina-related, has still gotta have a level of good taste.
Seriously, what were these guys thinking? Miles Prower, I get it, great, good idea, but adding the Tails nickname was much better in the end.
I'm formulating a game, but if I'm ever in a team working on it one day, I'll be more than happy to consider input because I'm just one guy with good but incredibly niche taste. And I gotta make it appeal to the masses.
Meh, I've already got so many controllers as is. Though, if they plan on doing Gamecube games in any capacity in the future with the Wii U, this should definitely rise to the occasion, what with the pressure sensitive triggers and all.
@rjejr Hopefully if it's good enough, the word of mouth will boost sales and fan acclaim a bit. It'd also help if Nintendo really showcased the new stuff up to release.
Wrong - I downloaded Balanced Brawl so all characters had a shot. Project M is nice and all, but just one flavor of Smash. 64 is even its own flavor. Brawl and 4 are incredibly similar, however. Yeah, great that they tweaked the small stuff (more or less fixing Brawl's glaring errors), but it's not white-knuckle by any means. Now I do like that there are so many Items that K.O., that's good, but the fighters need that knockout power, too.
@SockoMario Played the demo yet? Because except for looking better and the characters falling slightly faster, it's the same thing. The mechanics are the same, the platforms, the Blast Zones still being far too far away, the insane recoveries, everything is there.
"I know that some sequels focus on fixing problems with the last game, but if we had taken that approach then we would have had less than half as many new characters, and the game wouldn’t have felt so different from the last one."
It already feels like Brawl. It's a nigh carbon copy except that everyone is more colorful. I get what he's saying, but you HAVE to fix problems, and it's the aesthetics and roster that will compare it to the prior game. Technical aspects are important, but that's all for not if the baseline game isn't enjoyable or different enough. Pressing Start at the title screen and hearing Brawl's confirmation sound effect alone is a bad sign.
The worst part about the Animal Crossing and Sonic tie-ins is that they don't even mesh well with the MH world. If that were solid, I wouldn't even blink at all of this.

Re: Discontinued amiibo Figures Could Be Released In Card Form, Says Miyamoto
It's now or never - I've gotta send in my Smash Card Game idea where cards are played at the same time to Nintendo.
Re: Rumour: Toys "R" Us Cancelling amiibo Orders, Including Exclusive Lucario Figure
Lots of scalping going on, too.

Eh, what the hell, I'll download MM7 for the 2P mode.
...it does support that versus mode, right?

MORE DUCK HUNT

Re: Review: GetClose: A Game for RIVALS (Wii U eShop)

Oy vey. Looks like I'll have to be super diligent in February...

Take a break, Sakurai - let's have a game without your involvement and see just how radically it changes, for better or for worse.
Re: Guide: Training The Ultimate Pokémon In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire
Couldn't they just do away with Natures/IV/EV? I mean geez, what a headache. I'd play Pokemon once again if they just did that.
Who is it at Nintendo that has this hard-on for stats, anyway? It's ruined Mario Kart, and now Smash 4...
Re: Nintendo Might Not Be Making More GameCube Controller Adapters at the Moment
They need to at least make one more round of adapters to ease up the scalping.

Might as well add this to the laundry list of things that the ball got dropped on in the course of making this game.

Re: Poll: Nintendo Minute Debate - Is Super Mario World or Super Mario Bros. 3 More Influential?
Overall? I'm gonna say SMB3. Seeing as the Koopalings and fortresses were in SMW.
But as far as the Mario series, they're equally influential to the series, and the current atmosphere certainly more closely matches SMW than SMB3.
Re: Wii U Owner Proves That Rejecting The End-User License Agreement Locks The System

Re: Capcom Won't Greenlight Sequels If A Game Doesn't Sell Over Two Million Copies

It certainly doesn't appear that way.
Although I suppose Xover would count as that. Kinda.
Re: Capcom Won't Greenlight Sequels If A Game Doesn't Sell Over Two Million Copies
@FX29
Tch, and that's probably only because BN3 was so rich in content. Because BN4 was a major departure from BN2/3's style.
Re: Capcom Won't Greenlight Sequels If A Game Doesn't Sell Over Two Million Copies
And that business philosophy irked their core, destroying the possibility of ANY series reaching 2m sales.
Re: Shantae and the Pirate's Curse Finally Shakes its Release Delay Hex

They were totally waiting for Smash to fade.
Instant purchase, no question. They're already shooting to make it longer than RR (which was replayable) and the pirate gear looks like solid fun.
