Re: Nintendo Confirms Major Reductions In Sales and Financial Projections

HyperSonicEXE

Who's making these sales projections? They don't have enough software, and they're outspecced by competition. Blue Ocean only applies to the products that are directly unique - that hardware doesn't just attach, as they're seeing by the reduced software projections.
Snatching up devs and making the games themselves is the way to go. Also, they really should be receptive to new IP's that people bring through the door. Obviously they'd want to market test it and otherwise quality check it first, make sure it fits in their portfolio, but you never know when someone will walk in with the next Angry Birds or Candy Crush, and that's extra software support and huge profit for them. That might mot be so easy since they're not on mobile right now, but a side-strategy is definitely something to consider.

Re: Mighty No. 9 Studio Comcept Facing Fan Backlash Over Community Manager Appointment

@eza
Name and Shame?
How very political and abrasive of you.
When I can just as easily pull up my own site of reverse sexism and blame you and many others for it:
http://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2012-05-22-the-second-sexism-discrimination-against-males#.UqnWB6NMHFo

But I'm not.
Why?
Because I don't know any of you, none of you may have ever done these horrible things, and this is a freaking video game site. Not the place or time.

But, thank you for illustrating the kind of bile that these fans are rallying against when it comes to having a Community Manager.

Re: Mighty No. 9 Studio Comcept Facing Fan Backlash Over Community Manager Appointment

HyperSonicEXE

Okay, look, this is not about "women not getting their voice." That's absurd on the face of it, from the get-go of this Kickstarter, where people could even choose how the female character should look. And having a woman on staff isn't a bad thing - it's nice to have a woman's touch in trying to design a game that will appeal to many people.

This is about the community's suggestions and input being very potentially filtered through a political, non-objective, biased mouthpiece.

That's the issue, and to think it was ever about oppressing women's voice in the creation of this game is as equally kneejerk and asinine than the radical few people that might want to "oppress women" if they exist, which I doubt.

Re: Talking Point: Moving To Smartphones Is Not The Answer For Nintendo

HyperSonicEXE

Nintendo can stay Paid and enter the mobile market just fine. They can even slap on some innovation to whatever smartphone they produce. Consumers like having that WELL MY PHONE DOES THIS HURRR.
Yes the 3DS is doing fine now, but it's bolstering the Wii U. One or both of those legs could fall at any moment, if you want to talk about wild market fluctuations. The consumers at large didn't want the 3D, and the tablet console is continuing the declining, forecasted numbers that were the reason for the Wii in the first place.
Nintendo needs to pursue mobile. Not as a tremendous money maker, not as an answer to a problem, but to stay in the consumers' eyeshot. And with the right controller or hardware buttons, the full games on the phone would be just as good.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Outlines His Heavy Smash Bros. Workload

@Senario
Chaingrabs and Wavedashing are the major problems. Wavedashing was more or less gone with momentum airdodges in Brawl, and chaingrabs are the same thing as Infinites and need to be managed out.

Peer review, say maybe Miyamoto or Iwata or someone with balancing experience, someone at Bamco that focuses on hitboxes and balancing, would help prevent things such as:
Marth's high priority on all attacks
Sonic's homing attack glitch
Snake's remote detonator exploit
Metaknight's flying exploit
Etc.

Diddy Kong is fairly powerful, but you have to know how to use him. So I don't know if I would call him broken or not. Hard for me to judge.
Again, two heads are better than one. Whoever reviews Sakurai doesn't have to code or balance, just let him know to change something that's off.

Re: New Iwata Asks Takes In the Louvre and its 3DS Guide

HyperSonicEXE

Aw! A Nintendified version of the Louvre could easily have been a tastefully done set of "What-ifs?" and whimsy.
If you ask me, the Louvre's directors just trounced all over someone's artistic expression and imagination. This is a virtual tour - it's not like this would endanger the artifacts.

Re: iPhone Gaming Controller Could Mean "The End Of Nintendo", Claims Investment Site

HyperSonicEXE

Thing is, no one can deny that Smartphones have indeed acted as a Substitute Good to Nintendo's entertainment products. No one else's games are as good. There's no denying that. But smartphone games are free and convenient, and the majority of the consumer base is just fine with that. Nintendo's push towards "bite-size" games and levels actually cost them, since people can already get that brevity of gameplay, twitch gameplay, on a device that they already own, for free.
The Wii U install base is incredibly low. The Core, like myself, can't sustain them at their current size for much longer.

Their next handheld move HAS to be their own Smartphone.

@DarkKirby
Just because something was made more recently does not mean it is better.
I like fanciful designs, very occasionally. After all, thisis Fiction - who's to say it can't happen in their world? But I'm absolutely appalled by some of these newer designs that are just shallow and lazy on the face of them. Ice cream cone and keychain come to mind. And the new legendary trio - What???
That said, I never understood Magmar and some of the GSC and RSE designs.

It may be time to introduce Extinction of species.

Re: This Beautiful Zelda-Themed N64 Console Must Surely Come from the Sacred Realm Itself

HyperSonicEXE

Not sure how I feel about the flaking, it is very cool, though. Placement of the Triforce on the controller seems off, too, rather just not have it on there.
So it looks like it's a very mediocre pale gold in white light but only the traditional, deep, rich LoZ gold in yellow light? Yiiiiike.

That all said, the trim on the N64 works amazingly well. Good logical spot for the complete Triforce emblem on the N64's expansion slot, and the border actually works.

Re: Feature: A Supersonic History of Sonic Cartoons

HyperSonicEXE

They really should just scrap Cubot and Orbot, and bring back Scratch and Grounder.
The '96 movie was pretty cool - the characters interacted like you'd think they would if you played Sonic CD heavily. And that's a really unique and cool universe, with many planets and wide gaps between lands. Great stuff.
