Re: Yumi's Odd Odyssey Receives Discount in North America

@StephenYap3
Psh. Real men can say they play Yumi's Odd Odyssey or sport some Peach gear in Mario Golf: World Tour (I like the Blooper Combo more, though) or even wear the Kirby Hat on their Streetpass Mii, if they like. It's all good.

@Jahir
It's very fun, though it is strictly puzzle platforming, devilish at that.
This is for the crowd that has fun and enjoys things like 100%ing Banjo-Kazooie, getting all the Star Coins in recent Marios, and/or doing Buster-only runs of Megaman games.

@PrincessEevee9
Absolutely not true. It is entirely possible for a game to be made where there are no "clear winners," and there are a number of ways to do that. Example: SSB4 seems to be taking the Valve/TF2 route, same thing the original SSB did - make EVERYBODY powerful. You can also carefully balance the existing stats, which, I'm somewhat convinced that they're trying to do with that test of the bikes or karts being faster. Let's just hope the ATV's and weight classes don't make a monkey out of their efforts.
@HaThready
Yes, for the Core audience. But the public was already driven away by that time, not to mention they didn't also patch some balance.

"Not going overboard with new tricks and changes will be important to keep the Mario Kart faithful happy while also welcoming in a new set of players."

Too late for that. The selectable parts, the different Karts, it was already overwhelming in MKWii, and it will be even more confounding in MK8 since there's no simple way to choose a setup and just get into the action quickly. MK8 will undoubtedly have its own "MK7 Metal Mario" arise and/or some shortcut glitch ala Maka Wuhu, and that will be the end of its online play. It all looks beautiful, though - I'd have liked a more colorful pallette for Moo Moo Meadows.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Mario Golf: World Tour DLC, Pricing and Release Schedule

HyperSonicEXE

I'm absolutely crushed.

Let it flop. Day One DLC is inexcusable, especially when they have a corporate sponsor.

Also? I do not buy nor appreciate the "It's another full game" argument. That compares this game to a past entry, not contemporary golf games that it's competing with, and the amount of content is expanded every console generation as technology improves, employees gain skill, and revenue increases. Plus, we're paying $40 instead of $30 already. That's no argument.

Re: Month Of Kirby: Kirby's Lost Levels

I agree on the storybook look of that image being the best. Dunno how I feel about that lifebar, and the clipping could use some work, but that's a very solid art style for the series.

KDL3 and K64 were too light, and Air Ride and RtDL/TD are too defined and busy.

With some fluorescent colors and whimsical patterns and elements like the ones in Kirby's Adventure, this would be perfect.

Tch, sorry, I just spent that budget money on the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck album from Tuomas Holopainen.
I'll be listening to the instrumental version while reading the trade paperback and companion of the same name for the first time, in style. Dalmore 18, Scottish caramels, cigar, small dimly lit and fairly opulent library that I have access to, the works. Should be fun.

Re: Report Suggests That June Could Be Crucial For Iwata's Future At The Head Of Nintendo

Honestly, some of these recent types of games that were revealed in the last Direct really should just be on mobile phones.
Rusty Slugger, Steel Divers, Dillon's Rolling Western, Pokemon Trozei: they're all smartphone-ish games, and it wouldn't harm any of the listed franchises' value.

And let's be frank and honest here:
The fact that Nintendo is asking the consumer to pay for these kinds of games that people are already getting substitutes of for free with ads is not only out of touch, but also harming the appeal of the long-standing franchises that these lesser games are being lumped with. Not that there is anything wrong with the gameplay itself, but these are all shallow, and it's a hard sell to make someone buy a console and/or the cost of the game, when they can have something similar for free on a device that they already have and can easily carry anywhere. Rather than having a huge brick in one's pocket or carrying case.

Re: Review: Yumi's Odd Odyssey (3DS eShop)

HyperSonicEXE

Absolutely worth it. Hard as nails, but the music and gameplay are very engaging. You really want to solve all of these rope physics puzzles, nothing too insane in this one if you just use your brain and try, try again.
If you're stuck on something, ask any one of us that have completed the game - not much help out there on the Internet except a very few videos of very specific levels.

Re: Koji Igarashi Discusses Leaving Konami and Being Inspired by the Mighty No. 9 Example

@unrandomsam
I guess so. Still, you'd think the companies would change to help them out.
Then again, Japan does tend to give the reigns to the younger generation because "it's progress," rather than keep all bright talent, young and old.

But again, these companies make it so darn hard to know if it was people like Inafune or Igarashi, or the company's own misguided, suited up Yes Men that made the bad calls.

That's the most infuriating part. Even Nintendo's going through that. I'm beginning to suspect Nintendo's protecting Miyamoto and their reputation, especially with Wii Music and Pikmin both being his pet projects.
Nothing wrong with any of those games, mind you, but they're extremely and incredibly niche.
