Wise words

Star Fox will be blasting its way to the Wii U next year, offering fans of the series another chance to hop into the iconic Arwing and perform barrel rolls aplenty.

However, those expecting the game to feature a radically different storyline to what has gone before may be a little disappointed, as Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed the focus is very much on the controls:

I like to create gameplay mechanics more than I do stories. The story might not be too different from past "Star Fox" games, but the gameplay mechanics are going to feel very different because of the two-screen system of the Wii U with the GamePad and TV screen. It'll make for a very fun and unique way to play.

Star Fox was shown behind closed doors at this year's E3, and could be one of the most effective demonstrations of the Wii U's dual-screen setup that we've yet seen. It also makes use of the GamePad's analogue sticks and its motion sensing capabilities, which should allow for an incredibly immersive and challenging experience.

What are your hopes for the title? Were you expecting this to be an epic sequel rather than a glorified tech demo showing off the potential of the Wii U's unique hardware? Or perhaps you're holding out hope that we'll still get both in a single package? Let us know by posting a comment.
