With the internet, we can get game news immediately... see trailers and gameplay videos whenever we want, on our phones... not sure tradeshow events are necessary.
At this point, E3 is just a popular choice of "when do we announce stuff?" And it's popularity was diminishing pre-covid.
This game sounded very interesting and knowing it was a short experience, I downloaded it and played through with my wife.
There was one part toward the beginning that was a clever way to have the player feel what the character is experiencing. I was excited to see what else the game would do...
Unfortunately, after that part... it was a rather predictable story and uninteresting experience.
I am disappointed to say that, in my experience, this game is a very basic point-and-click with a mediocre story element. If it weren't for the "heavy" subject matter at its core, I doubt it would even be noticed by media outlets.
@jump It's only $8, which seems very fair... you are certainly free to do as you wish, but you may want to consider supporting the devs by getting it right away.
Never thought this game would ever be released on anything new... it's a great example of the indie game revolution and I'm glad to see it getting new life on Switch.
@Zidentia To my knowledge, no AirPods support low-latency codecs... so there will always be at least 150 - 200 ms of audio delay... not terrible, but not good enough for most people with regard to TV/movie/gaming audio sync.
@JaxonH That's not really true... there is a aptX Low Latency bluetooth codec... if the transmitter (Switch) and headphones/earbuds support aptX LL, the audio delay is essentially negligible unless you are really looking for it.
@Arehexes You are correct... but if the Switch were to support Low Latency (LL) codec and people could more readily buy earbuds that properly support LL, the problem would be solved.
Nintendo is probably waiting to see if wireless earbuds go this route. Right now, most LL bluetooth headphones are over-the-ear and designed for movie watching. Most earbuds only seem concerned to support the most recent HD audio codecs, which is great for music listening, but not for TV/movies/games.
@Jimmy_G_Buckets They probably (almost definitely) also have way more audio lag/latency.
The problem with wireless earbuds is that very few support Low Latency codec, which is essential for gaming. I'd bet that's why Nintendo doesn't allow you to simply connect earbuds via bluetooth.
Most gaming headsets have their own USB dongle and use a low latency connection... the receivers/headphones designed for movie watching do the same.
Connect Bluetooth earbuds to your phone and watch someone play a video game on Twitch to see what it's like.
I loved Ducktales NES and still own the cartridge... haven't hooked up my NES in a while though.
The DuckTales remake was a lot like the original, except way slower and more boring in my opinion. The cutscenes were poorly paced and I didn't love the art-style overall.
All I want is for the Disney Afternoon Collection to come to Switch... this seems like a no-brainer, but licensing issues are likely to blame.
What does 3D Animated imply? I understand the difference with video games... no TV's are "3D" anymore... is it implying a certain computer generated animation style?
This would make sense to me if defeating Ganon changed the game and/or created a save file that you couldn't go back into and explore... but it doesn't?
So I don't see the point of leaving the game "unbeaten"?
Glad it wasn't just me... I found DK Tropical Freeze to be extremely frustrating... poor controls, inconsistent jumps, confusing attacks... I have beat just about every Mario game (and Celeste for that matter) and I gave up quickly on DK.
The list is pretty silly... but 3D World and Yoshi should be on it.
The only reason other publishers charge less for ports and "older games" is because no one will buy them if they don't... people (including myself) readily pay higher/full prices for "old" Nintendo games.
Therefore, why would they charge less?
Anyone saying that the pricing is wrong/ridiculous/unfair needs to take a course in economics.
I don't know if people realize that in the WiiU version, Toad was way faster than the other characters, followed by Mario and Luigi, and Peach was crazy slow (but could float). This was pretty annoying when playing multiplayer since whoever was Toad was always waiting for others.
I'm guessing all four characters are now closer to or equal to the original Toad speed?

Re: Review: King of Seas - Naval Combat Gets Grindy After A Promising Start
That's what I was afraid... this was a "maybe on sale" wishlist item... but the performance issues make it a "definitely not".
Re: Review: SnowRunner - A Slow And Steady Off-Road Trucker
If you have any interest in this game and no way (or interest) to play it on a more powerful machine, you should give it a shot.
I play this on PC with a friend who lives across the country now and tag-teaming the missions while chatting via headset is quite enjoyable.
Also, as others have stated... SnowRunner has WAY more things to do than MudRunner.
Re: Nintendo Download: 20th May (North America)
King of Seas does look interesting... I don't think it actually releases until May 25th.
Re: Zelda & Loftwing Is The Only amiibo Compatible With Skyward Sword HD
Why in the world wouldn't they find something for Skyward Sword Link to activate... maybe any Link, just because.
I don't care about this game... or amiibo... but they could easily find something for the Link amiibo so people don't feel pretty screwed.
Your Link amiibo will unlock different costumes for Link... yay!?

Re: Random: Did You Know The Wii U Can Burn eShop Games To Discs?
So the DVD-RAM drive essentially looks like a HDD to the WiiU?
I suppose that could be useful for long-term storage with archive quality discs... but a HDD would be far more useful for most?
Re: Nintendo Download: 13th May (North America)
Not sure how well it will run on Switch, but SnowRunner is quite fun if you have any interest in the premise.
There is WAY more to do than in MudRunner, which was still quite fun.

Re: Rumour: The Latest Switch Firmware Update Has Apparently Added Bluetooth Audio Support
@keatonhj That doesn't appear to be true either... a simple search on Amazon for "earbuds low latency" will bring up a few options.
Re: Rumour: The Latest Switch Firmware Update Has Apparently Added Bluetooth Audio Support
@Zidentia To my knowledge, no AirPods support low-latency codecs... so there will always be at least 150 - 200 ms of audio delay... not terrible, but not good enough for most people with regard to TV/movie/gaming audio sync.
Proper Low Latency is less than 40 ms.

Mario Kart 99... the last 10 places keep getting eliminated until there are 9... then 3... 3 more... and a 3 person race for the win.
