Re: Soapbox: Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie Is Still One Of The Greatest Adaptations Ever

Saying that a movie has been "upgraded to 60 FPS" proves that you have no idea how frame rates work.

99.9% of movies are produced and rendered at 24 FPS... prior to BluRay they were traditionally converted to 30 FPS for consumer playback, but today we have the technology to display movies at proper 24 FPS. When done so properly, the playback is smooth as silk with zero judder. Unfortunately, alot of apps still convert to 60 FPS for streaming playback, which is objectively wrong.

Video games are different as the software is basically a blueprint and the GPU renders the frames "on the fly"... so a weak system will provide 30 FPS, a better system 60 FPS, and a super powerful system could provide 120 FPS correctly. This is simply not how it works with pre-rendered video content.

Converting film content to 60 FPS is just making up frames that do not exist and do not need to.

FYI... the movie is available via Amazon Prime... however, last I checked the Amazon Prime ROKU app will provide 24 FPS playback if you have your hardware settings correct, but the audio tends to be out-of-sync with Amazon when using proper 24 FPS playback.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Star Fox Game?

HolyGeez03

@Leuke Are you confusing Assault with Adventures? It's easy to do...

I feel like very few people played Assault and it seems like it was quite rare.

The 3DS remake of Star Fox 64 is great... one of the reasons I keep my 3DS around.

I am somewhat on the fence about whether or not I am interested in playing this... never been into the Lego games, but this one seems different.

This information regarding potential piles of DLC and micro-transactions makes me MUCH less interested.

I am fully aware that I can simply "just not buy" the DLC, and I won't, but it's existence makes it not my style of game, in general.

Re: Rumour: Mario Party Superstars DLC May Be On The Way

HolyGeez03

I fully expect some DLC for Superstars (no brainer)... I can't believe we haven't had it yet. I hope it is extensive, which would then fully make up for the terrible Super Mario Party (which I traded in for Superstars).

Ultimately, I just want to see Windmillville.

Re: Retro-Bit's GameCube Component Cable Will Save You Some Pennies

HolyGeez03

@andykara2003 Yes, if you are being technical, which the conversation here on NLife is not. But I edited my post for you.

I was using RGB to help eliminate some people's confusion with composite... the component cables are literally coded with Red, Green, and Blue connectors. Which is pretty annoying since the green and blue can look very similar when working behind a TV!

@Dirty0814 Pretty sure some Gamecube games support 480p... not too many, but there is a prompt during boot up if you are using component cables that asks if you want to output 480p and lets you know that your TV may not support progressive signal input.

Also, pretty sure the resolution lines and color information output is still better than the a/v composite when running Gamecube games with proper component output, despite not using the sync signal for progressive scan... should be at least as good as the S-Video output.
