I'd be happy with a bigger, 1080p screen on the handheld... and hardware that can run games like BOTW at 1080/30 without any drops... and Mario games at 1080/60. The new hardware will also allow the Switch to keep getting ports of third party games like DOOM, albeit very "watered down".
I'd bet the Pro dock will upscale to 4K for output to TV... as long as it does a better job at the upscale than most TVs, it will be worth it.
I have watched him try to complete this level a little bit here and there since about the 1,500 hour mark. It's oddly compelling.
And there is nothing wrong with attempting this... it's no different than someone who dedicates hundreds/thousands of hours to learning a musical instrument, learning to quickly solve a rubik's cube, whatever... It's just less understood.
He has stated numerous times that he is doing this because he wants to and enjoys it, not out of some dangerous compulsion. We have no reason not to believe him.

I loved the WiiU... I still feel that it would have been more successful if Nintendo had just pushed it as an HD Wii with Off-TV play on the Gamepad.
Every one that I showed the Off-TV capability to loved it and bought a WiiU so that they could game while their kids or spouse watched TV. It was also quite popular among my friends as a way to let their kids watch Netflix shows while the adults watched shows on the TV.
So much potential and tons of great games... but no one really knew what it was or cared about "Asymmetrical Gameplay" other than Nintendo Land. Just using the Gamepad for a map or inventory management was fantastic... worked great for Shovel Knight, Steamworld, Pikmin, etc.
Being able to play Mario Kart 8 and Zen Pinball on the Gamepad alone made it a worthwhile device.
I really hope the Switch 2 includes a "Dock" with some console capabilities inside... allowing, for example, Player 1 to use the whole TV and Player 2 to use the Switch TV. When actually docked, this would allow for a much more powerful traditional home console.
Age of Calamity actually looks amazing... I don't have time to play games like that, but I will be watching some of it while I work.
Part Time UFO appears to have full couch co-op... I will be getting that for sure.
The cloud streaming games are very interesting... mostly to hear if it works... I won't be playing those games, but the tech could allow the Switch to get some of the next-gen AAA titles.
I played about 3/4 of the game on WiiU and got kind of tired and frustrated with it... it is an awesome game if you are into the genre. Also, got it for free with the purchase of another game.
Glad to see it get a second life on the Switch, but not for me.
Definitely would benefit from 1080p resolution on TV... 30 fps is fine.
I had no idea that these portable screens would work directly with the Switch via USB-C and no dock is technically needed.
Except that, as noted, there is a chance that if the circuitry isn't absolutely correct, it could brick the Switch.
The editor notes that the screens should be used with a dock for this reason... but the dock requires AC power, which somewhat defeats the portability aspect. If you have AC power available, any small LCD TV will work.
I was so happy to see And Yet It Moves get a mention... One of the reasons I keep my Wii plugged in and of the VERY few proper uses of motion controls!
These games are quite fun... and actually benefit from motion control aiming if done right... I already bought this one on Steam for super cheap, but otherwise I would consider a play-through on Switch.
High Score started strong and diminished throughout.... it was still worth watching for some decent info and visuals. The whole time I was thinking that there should be a sequel that delves into the Console Wars more...
It's an amazing concept and part of me wants to get it, just because. But deep down I don't believe it will work as well as I hope... and the fun factor will probably wear quickly.
It appears that you drive the kart to map a course, which is then stored in the software. In the video, Lakitu splashes the kart with paint and you then "paint" the course with pink. If that isn't the case, then there would be no way to create the rainbow course boundaries shown in the video, and no way to create the courses shown in the overhead shot.
I suppose the worst case is that I have a cool RC Mario Kart that I control with the Switch?
And I highly doubt this will work on the vast majority of typical residential carpet types.
I am so happy games like this exist and are coming to Switch... the hardest part is discovering them among all of the garbage. Thanks Nintendo Life for doing your part to provide exposure.
The performance issues (especially the analog stick not working?) are unacceptable... I will wait to purchase and see if the developer fixes the problems.
Decided to grab this game since I am an off-road enthusiast and the game looked intriguing. Went against my normal judgment as this game is clearly a mobile port... but it was on sale for $9.
The game is fun in short bursts and the handling of the different vehicles keeps it somewhat interesting... but so far the courses have been VERY repetitive. Hopefully that will change as I progress through the game, but I have a feeling it won't... if the courses were more creative/varied, this would actually be really cool.
So glad that games like this are coming to Switch... this looks perfect for playing handheld with headphones... will definitely pick it up at some point.
I would have preferred SM64/Galaxy/Galaxy 2 and I think those games are more fitting for the collection... Sunshine HD should have been the separate release in my opinion. Sunshine could benefit from a complete re-make to fix problems and boring spots.
Oh well... I will be buying it for SM64 and Galaxy... I actually bought Galaxy 1 & 2 together for the Wii and went straight to 2... I started 1, but never got very far and then got busy with other stuff. So I am looking forward to re-starting Galaxy on the Switch.
@Richnj I agree that it is not a direct comparison... but I feel my example was reasonable support that it is not automatically better to convert to widescreen aspect just because it's possible.
The look of the game would change and a decision was made to not do that... I respect the decision.
A lot people are calling these ports? A port is simply getting a game to run on different hardware... Based on what I have seen, 3D All Stars are complete remasters and look significantly better than the original games.
Exactly why SM64 is running at 720p and not 1080p, I am not sure... I would be very interested to hear from someone who worked on the project... I'd bet there is a reason for the decision.
The best explanation that I have heard is that the original SM64 native resolution was 320x240... 240 scales to 720 very nicely... not 1080. I don't know if this is the actual reason.
@AndreaF96 I am defending the decision to let creators decide how their work is presented.
If changing SM64 to a widescreen aspect is as easy as people are claiming... and the creators did decide to change the Sunshine aspect... then it was likely an artistic decision to keep the original SM64 aspect.

Please keep doing this once a quarter or so... and thanks for including trailers.
Re: Review: Phogs! - Utterly Cute And Charming Co-Op Fun
I must admit, I am surprised by the high score... as the game looks terrible.
I usually can't resist a local co-op game like this, but I am not yet sold on this one... especially for $25.

Must be something to do with the firmware or different hardware audio circuit?
My guess is that if the firmware could be updated on the Original DS, it would load the same as the DS Lite.
