Update #2 [Wed 25th Aug, 2021 13:00 BST]: Dispatch Games has informed us via email that distribution of the delayed The Game Paradise codes has commenced. Here's the text of the mail we received last night:
We have finally been able to address the backend issues and we will be able to start sending out the download code bonus for all customers who have Pre-Ordered The Game Paradise.
E-mails will start going out TONIGHT.
Codes will be sent in the order that pre-orders were placed. There are a LOT of e-mails for the team to send, so keep an eye on your inbox!
We will have further updates on the physical release next week. We appreciate your continued patience.
Let us know below if you've been waiting on a code and found some one in your inbox.
Update [Mon 2nd Aug, 2021 12:40 BST]: Dispatch Games has emailed its customers to confirm that Game Paradise codes – which were expected to be sent out on July 30th – have been delayed:
Due to circumstances beyond our control - we will be unable to send out the Game Paradise codes as anticipated today. However, we are working hard to get the back end issue resolved ASAP.
Until we have the back end solution in hand, we wont be able to commit to the exact release timing of the codes, but we are working hard to get things handled and will keep you informed of updates as they happen.
We apologize for the delay.
Original story [Thu 1st Jul, 2021 13:30 BST]: The will-they-won't-they saga of Dispatch Games — surely the most ironically named publisher in the gaming industry — continues. If you're not familiar with this long and sorry tale of radio silence, apologies and unfulfilled promises, in all honesty we recommend steering clear. It's not a pretty picture.
To recap briefly, the Western publisher of games such as Psyvariar Delta, Soldam, Game Tengoku (in physical form), Radirgy Swag and others has had trouble fulfilling pre-orders for a long time now. We ran a feature back in March 2020 documenting the disappointment to that point and talking to frustrated customers about the company's lack of communication.
Promises to maintain a weekly update on social channels were made and then broken, and Dispatch ill-advisedly teased announcements before disappearing again. It reached a point recently where RS34, the developer of Radirgy Swag, was also in the dark where the game had got to after Dispatch had accepted pre-orders for the game two years prior:
So, after Dispatch has apparently locked down all previous tweets, here we are again with the latest in its long-running series of apologies. The big news is that Game Paradise, Radirgy Swag and Rail Sim are apparently all still on the way and as part of its make-good apology, Dispatch intends to supply all pre-order customers with a digital code for their games while they wait for the physical copies (which will also ship with some extra "bonus" swag).
Here's the statement in full, which we received via email:
We would like to sincerely apologize to everyone for the lack of communication and the frustration we have caused as a result. It has never been our intent to perform in this manner and we understand the concern that people have felt and are working to address those concerns directly.
Support have processed refunds for those that requested them without question. Those are complete.
Support is also addressing any address updates and inquiry requests now. Those are in process.
We are not disappearing as a company and all of the products are in the pipe to ship. There will be further details coming, but here are some that we can share today:
It will be Game Paradise, Radirgy Swag and Rail Sim releasing in that order. Hard dates will be announced shortly.
As part of our apology to you - all customers that have been patiently waiting and have kept their orders with us will be receiving a digital code for the game so that you can start enjoying your product before the physical arrives to you.
Game Paradise digital codes are being processed now and we expect to send them out to customers as soon as they are ready.
Radirgy Swag and Rail Sim digital codes – we will be making announcements as these become available.
All Limited Edition customers will be receiving an additional bonus item. Game Paradise LE will come with an all new poster. Radirgy Swag LE will come with a beanie cap. The Rail Sim LE bonus will be announced soon.
We are committed to earning your trust and focused on improving our communication.
The news that complimentary digital copies are coming might help restore some faith for those who have been waiting so long, but until those codes arrive and are redeemed, it's understandably tough to take Dispatch at its word after so many broken promises.
Hopefully, this marks a turning point in the company's approach — given past evidence, though, we'll believe it when we see it.
Are you waiting for any pre-orders from Dispatch Games? Let us know your thoughts and if this apology and compensation improves the company's standing in your eyes.
Calling it now, this con job's going bust within the next five years (and even five years is a bit generous I think).
Just more BS from this company. Are they going to send DL codes to only the patient ones? What about the people who have called out their BS. I know they blocked me on FB. F*** Dispatch Games.
Just bought the standard edition yesterday. I assume it was a pre-order cancellation that was put back up on the site! I will patiently wait, but damn the community is pissed. And rightfully so. Just want to play it in english.
I honestly could not read the game title.
You should report on the article that explained how they are leaving and have sold their offices. It appears all of this is more lies after 2 years of it.
@TheAwesomeBowser they're already closing their doors. This is all BS.
I left them long time ago they will never deliver on the Physical as promised. eShop is telling us they are going out of business and trying to send Digital to façade the fact they are going under. I am glad I left and got refunded.
@gojiguy Interesting. Do you have a link?
@SwitchForce Could the download codes be their way of indemnifying themselves to some extent? Shockingly bad behaviour from this terrible company.
@gojiguy The BBB needs to be called in on this. Dispatch were quick to take people's money, but they've no problem ignoring questions from genuine customers.
@quartet1986 no they offered to make Physical games and to go back on their own commitment tells you bit off more then they could chew.
@TheAwesomeBowser it's not the lack of a product but how they treated preorder buyers isn't what makes a successful company. And considering lack of communications that makes things worse.
These guys are crooked shysters.
Paid for two of the games about two years ago and am obviously still waiting. Horrible publisher with terrible communication skills and a lack of respect for their customers. Their FaceBook page was one of the only places to communicate with them but they banned a ton of people for calling them out.
That article was revealing. I’ve consistently worried the company was financially bust and just trying to string along as far as they could. They’ve seemingly deleted their Facebook and Twitter comments and from that article a number of prior business choices went bust with out comment. I really just want my games as I love shooters but the time to get a refund (huh!) is probably now.
I just got refunded after waiting 2 years. I tried to hold on, but the writing seemed to be on the wall.
I thought I was over it, but I take their response as a personal insult. So only once they get called out do they crawl out to answer.
The only way they save face is by sending me the digital code on their dime and then once they have the items actually in hand, contacting me to see if I'm still interested in buying.
We had a sales agreement. The deal was not for me to be an investor in this business.
It's really sad how they screw up Radirgy Swag's western release.
I have bought it from the JP eShop and it's a excellent shmup with game design that is innovative while still showing that the developers are experienced shmup experts.
It's also surprisingly full-featured with online leaderboards ans tons of unlockables (gallery, stage select, alternativ game modes, "acheivements"...).
Removed - inappropriate language; user is banned
At this point I'm no longer shocked. Once Dispatch Games finally manages to ship the product I ordered two years ago, I'll be sure to never do business with them again.
As a person who’s STILL waiting for their Turrican anthology copies to arrive, I really hope this physical release thing is just a fad that’ll go away in a few years and games will either be on the eShop or sold at retail. Limited run is the only one of these companies who seem to know what they’re doing.
So firstly the physical games are delayed for orders placed 2+ years ago...
Then instead they state they will issue download codes, but now these are also delayed.
I think useless and pathetic are the kindest words to describe them in this instance....
I was one of the people who was annoyed by this and emailed them a month ago asking to cancel my order and calling them unprofessional. I was really annoyed as I placed this order on September 22nd, 2019! They immediately responded to my email and canceled my order. THEN on the same day (July 1st), they sent that long email to everyone apologizing for the delay. I still have my email and their big long response. It was literally 2 hours between them. THEY DIDNT send this apology email because they feel bad, it's was because some customers (like myself and probably others) emailed them and demanded a refund, and they were forced to say something before any bad word spreads. IF NO ONE talked to them, all of this apology campaign wouldn't have happened and the order would be still in limbo while they stole people's money
I pre-ordered Game Paradise when it first went up was lucky enough to get a refund earlier this year. After making comments on Facebook page and contacting them by email a few times. I still get the emails regarding the games and if they want to send me the game digitally I welcome that.
Oddly enough the version by Dispatch Games of Game Paradise is up for pre-order on Play-Asia =
Nearly ordered but was like nah CBA with the hassle.
I’m lost for words. I remember last weekend thinking this was the official two year anniversary of my order being placed and it was time to cancel the order. Then “magically “ the email arrived saying good news Game Paradise codes go out on Friday. I was honestly shocked and for once I had some faith in these guys. So Friday arrives and j/k. I think they literally knew the anniversary date of the preorder going live would jar some people to finally cancel and sent out the first email to dangle a carrot with no plan of actual follow up.
And this is why I don't pre order.
Modern gaming is so disappointing
❗Something similar happened with 'Signature Games' and the Alex Kidd remake.
It kept getting cancelled so I cancelled my Order and got a refund.
I then just walked into Argos and got it from there.
I have two Orders unfulfilled with Limited Run ('Scott Pilgrim' and 'Double Dragon: Neon').
I got this email but no download code yet and I doubt I ever will.
What an absolute shambles…..going bankrupt in 3,2,1…..
When will people learn to stop giving money to these companies before a product even exists, any reputable company shouldn’t take payment until somethings ready to dispatch.
I’m calling it that Polymega will be the next culprit to have ripped people off without shipping any product.
@LeighDapa Which version of Scott Pikgram? I know Switch stuff has been arriving. I'm still waiting on PS4.
So if anyone has a backlog and pre-ordered it but wants to wait for their physical version...😘
@EVIL-C The standard edition but with two Keyrings.
I could understand delay on physical products but a delay on the game codes. It's just digital contents, why is that an issue?
@LeighDapa Ahh, perhaps that delayed your delivery a bit? Sorry to hear. 😔
Received my code for it last night just like they said I would. Presumably other peoples' codes will be following. They did said they would start going out last night, so I'm guessing it'll take a little time to get through them all.
I received my download code this morning
