Cruis'n Blast Hits The Throttle In New Vehicle Showcase

This one makes me nervous. I really want it to be good. Don’t want to race with animals though. Hopefully, I can opt out of having to do so. Not really what I want to see racing around the track with me. I did see a motorcycle and Xtreme G came to mind. Happily.

I haven't been this excited for a racing game since Mario Kart 8 came out seven years ago.
I hope it can deliver!

@sketchturner It could be really fun, I mainly want Blur and/or Split Second again though, those were amazing. Or at least something where they driving is important

@Realness The game is out now in arcades, and it's a masterpiece, and judging by the trailers, you don't have to ride as an animal, it's just an option.

I'm still none the wiser where I can buy a copy from Not seeing it anywhere.

@HotGoomba Not so much me, I don’t want them in the field at all. I know I don’t have to be one. I like the sound of high performance engines and tires screeching in surround sound. Not unicorns neighing and dinosaur grunts. Kinda kills the intensity for me.

@Realness Ok now that I don't see happening. You'll probably get used to it, especially with the fact that this game is way less serious than other racing games, but I understand your concerns.

@Pikman I still play Blur & Split/Second to this day, absolute arcade classics the both of them. They don't make 'em like they used to...

Cautiously hopeful for this; the games never were powerhouses but I still hope it runs well on the Switch without downgrading the res to NES levels or stuttering all over the place.

I still want a collection of the old ones....

@HotGoomba I know. I’m hoping I can look past it. The game is silly and that’s ok. When it comes to my racing games though, no matter how silly, I’m all business.

if this had online play, it would be an outstanding must have.
but as it is, it looks like something to buy on a sale price.

If the graphical performance is good... including 60 FPS split-screen... I probably won't be able to pass this up for some arcade racing fun.

@sketchturner That just shows where the racing genre has ended up in recent times - almost completely forgotten about. Really sad. All that was needed were some really good games. People love racers - look at the sales of Mario Kart! Why we haven't got a new Diddy Kong Racing, F-Zero, Wave Race and others is beyond me.

@sword_9mm I'm worried that half the game will be missing off the cart, it will be low-res in handheld mode, it won't have a time attack option, etc. All these things you wouldn't have had to worry about in previous generations.

I’ll wait for the review but looks very promising. I read the recent interview. Hot wheels unleashed is the other racing game out next month, at the end. Will be interesting to see how they measure up.

I preordered a while ago, mainly to unlock and use all the weirdest vehicles and creatures - that way maybe I can get my kiddos to do split screen with me.

I've barely played any of the Cruis'n games in the arcades. Hopefully Blast is as fun as it looks! Plus in principle I just have a soft spot for arcade conversions (it's nostalgic somehow)!

@Jamie_R I think the problem is publishers think all racing games have to be huge AAA experiences like Forza/Gran Turismo. So they invest huge amounts of cash padding out the run time of a game that should really just be a simple arcade racer.

Even this game seems to have bought into that somewhat, with Eugene Jarvis saying Nintendo recommended they create more tracks for the home release.

Personally, I’m happy if a game like Ridge Racer or Daytona just has 3 or 4 tracks. If they’re well made and the game has a good handling gimmick, like Ridge Racer’s power slides, I don’t need loads of tracks. I’ll get plenty of enjoyment out of learning to master the handling.

I'm looking forward to this but it does look very.....shiny.

Will be buying this, shame it doesn't have online races though. Hopefully they'll add it in as an update in the future.

Just pre ordered it!
Can't wait to play it and I hope it will sell well enough to have the original Trilogy and, perhaps, more classic IPs from Nintendo.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this game and taking a wait and see approach. Looking forward to the Nintendo Life review.

I love arcadey racers and zany games, so this is definitely on my radar.
