Nintendo has shared fresh footage of the as-yet untitled (properly) Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 — check it out above.
Zelda series boss Eiji Aonuma showed various Zelda games at the end of the company's E3 2021 Direct stream, the last of which was the sequel to Breath of the Wild. The video showed Link falling through the air and taking to the skies in the much-anticipated sequel.
Aonuma also stated that the development team were aiming for a '2022' launch date for the game, so there's still some time to wait before we're let loose in this gorgeous-looking game. Here are some screenshots for you to oggle:

I wonder how much new thing there is for the game to take so long
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Fresh Air
Weird how the last shot doesn't show any of the floating islands, I hope it isn't a separate map as in Skyward Sword.
Nice to have at least a window now but knowing the Zelda series, even that isn't necessarily guaranteed. We've seen plenty of delays before. I don't mind though as long as the end product is worth the wait, which it will be.
So that's probably the November game, looks incredible.
Edit: November of 2022, as the year is noted in the headline, I figured my guess was obvious...
That. Looked. *****. Amazing.
This looks so beautiful, I'm so glad that we can finally see what an open world Zelda game looks like.
Wait...
2022* if you're familiar with how the Zelda series takes its sweet time lol
@IronMan30 Nov 2022
First thing I thought of was Kid Icarus when I seen this mofo soaring through the skies.
Here's a brief rundown of the arm's abilities (that I could see)
Flamethrower.
Phasing?
Reversing time.
And going upwards?
Looks great but we’ve got a long, long wait yet. I genuinely believe this’ll launch alongside Nintendo’s next console.

Just here to remind everyone they were WRONG about the Switch Pro yet again!
Are those tats? Why is it so pretty? Link can melt through the floor? Did y'all have to make Zelda a DID again? At least last time she was keeping Ganon from killing everybody.
Still, so excited I could scream! This, this right here is why I love Nintendo.
Just looks like it could of been dlc to me, if the whole map is the same apart from some floating island parts then that's just lazy.
What happened to her?
The game will be sick
It's early yet, but i was disappointed. This doesnt look like a sequel to me so far, it looks like DLC.
Can't wait to play this in 2023 after it's been delayed for the next Nintendo system release as a launch title.
"Aiming" was all I heard. Pretty much every single Zelda game gets delayed.
I'll play it, but not expecting it until 2023.
"Aiming" for 2022 is concerning, but after seeing the changes I now realize this is a more ambitious project than I originally thought.
2022 is getting insane to be honest and the second half of 2021 looks to be a banger as well. Looks like nintendo is back!
Firstly, this looks great. Obviously it will be good. New mechanics, new runes(weapons?), new areas etc. There's a part of me that feels just a little concerned tho. Is it really just gonna be the same old bokoblins everywhere with the same map on the ground? That's fine if it's really different, but idk. something feels weird. Also I got WAY less hype when I realized that was just link with his hair down, and not zelda
When in 2022? Late? The disclaimer at the beginning said that the coronavirus pandemic could impact development...
That last shot with the castle rising looked like the same Hyrule as before. I really hope it's a new base map, and not just base BotW Hyrule with sky islands and cobblestone generators
@contractcooker I would assume that goes without saying given there is context surrounding the year, but yes.
Okay this looks amazing. But did anyone else notice that "we don't have any other games in the franchise to announce"? Like...no Anniversary Collection?
This is Majora's Mask to BotW's Ocarina of Time.
I hoping for an epic battle where Link is commanding Loftwings against Guardians.
who would have expect that? all that specualtors thats is totally brand new once again i hope this game will provide us with a lot of sidequests a deep dive story.. now i am sure that link will be seperated from zelda since beginning of the game i wask ind of hoping she will be part of the adventure
@Stubborn_Monkey The've been showing that disclaimer since last year. And I think it's true, but I also think it's why we get some "simpler" games like WarioWare and AdvanceWars.
@Octane Not weird at all I don't think. Castle flies up first, rest of the land chunks follow. Or, they all fly up at the same time. No reason for the rest of the land masses to be in the sky while the castle is still in the ground. At least no reason I can think of.🤷
@UltimateOtaku91 my thoughts exactly.. plus no remastered wind waker or twilight princess.. bs
Maybe I'm one of the few that are disappointed. First I don't like the idea of islands because I really hated Skyward Sword, I hope it doesn't feel like it. 2nd it seems that we'll wait 1,5 year for it, 3rd no other games for the 35th anniversary? Not even a collection? I had high Hope's for Ocarina / Majora's HD versions of the 3DS games. I will keep the Mario Party and Life Is Strange. Nothing else for me. Not even N64 Zelda games for NSO.
Legend of Zelda Skies of Malice
calling it now
@stinky_t it it honestly looks like breath of the wild with a skyward sword skin which seems likewhy they are re releasing & re working on skyward sword.
I hope I'm wrong but it seems like it's going to be a downgrade. Opposite to what was Majora's mask to ocarina of Time, which was either equally as good or even better depending on how you feel about it but it definitely seemed like it had a lot new elements compared to how this sequel is going to be. I just really hope I'm wrong.
@StefanN I thought that LoZ game n watch looked like a great way to mark the anniversary.
Absolutely amazing.
Obviously, botw2 is more than just a cut and paste job like people were thinking.
Some real heavy hitters for 2022.
@marnelljm I really thought that this would be the time that the rumors were actually legit. I still think that a switch pro is coming at some point, but after years of "No seriously, it'll be announced at the next direct", I can't be convinced anyone has any legitimate knowledge on its release (or if it exists period).
The Legend of Zelda: Get A Bloody Haircut, You Look Scruffy
My work and social life in 2022 won't be able to handle this.
@john_lennon999 Any idea of N64 or Gamecube games for NSO is pretty much dead in the water at this point. We're only getting 2D 8 bit and 16 bit shovelware every couple of months or so no 3D games at all.
hope they do away with breakable weapons.
Zelda got totally disrespected for the 35th...
(though I am glad that Link has pandemic hair, like me)
Also one last thing, there's no way this is coming out in 2022, over half the footage shown in this trailer is literally the same footage they had when the first trailer came out, the only new stuff is the few seconds of gameplay.
This looks good. I was hoping for more details, but hopefully it hits the 2022 date.
@Octane The continuity of the shots is all scrambled. The castle rising links with the end of the events of the previous trailer. I’m assuming this incites the islands being ‘revealed’.
Thank god we can still play as Link and no CO-OP nonsense. Great reveal, and the game looks gorgeous!! But I seriously hope that they do more than just use the old map and add a sky-map above that, and that's it They need to add things to the old map also to justify this, which I think personally they will, but it's a bit of a concern.
@Fighter_Hayabusa I feel similar, although I also personally never wanted a BotW2 sequel. I loved playing the first one and it was a really unique experience, but I've already experienced the exploration.
If they insist on making a squeal to it, I would prefer it to have extremely different (and weird) mechanics compared to its predecessor (just like OoT to MM).
And let me just say, I don't think this will be "bad", I'm just personally not super pumped for it, but I know plenty of folks are which is great!
The "wild" haircut was probably my favorite part of the trailer. I thought it suited him, especially with the skyward sword dive stuff going on.
@Muddy_4_Ever Nice icon
@IronMan30 of 2022?
Nice botw 2 footage
I beginning to suspect they are gonna release this one in the same time they release their next system, as they traditionally do.
@ERIC_MACK I was hoping for a MEGADUNGEON to compliment the open world theme of BoTW.
An epic underground journey, but more of the same it is. I guess.
@KateGray hairdressers have been back open for ages now?!
Gonna need you audio experts back on the reverse stuff!
@Crockin Really well put, I feel the same way. Idk what it is but something does feel a little off or missing to me. Although, like I mentioned in another comment here, I was never too hyped on the idea to begin with.
Also bummed about that not being Zelda as well
looks awesome
@ERIC_MACK Exactly. Been hearing this stuff since 2018. It’s just not gonna happen at this point.
It was underwhelming however, Nintendo always does what they want. Remember when!after e3 they done a direct on brand new Nintendo labo. Why didn’t they release it when the worlds media attention was surrounding e3 (cuz they do what they want!) there will be a Zelda presentation later in the year and there has been no holiday game announced yet!
lol people in the comments saying they're already disappointed by this game based off of 40 seconds of out of context footage... come on
And no Switch Pro 😭
I won't lie, my hype for this game plummeted. The skyward sword elements triggered me, because they're so mediocre. And it looks TOO much like BotW. It's still too early to tell, but this is not the Majora's mask to Ocarina of Time. This is far lazier, considering even the map is the same. And Zelda not playable AGAIN? Why is Nintendo so against the idea. BotW Zelda is the series most popular incarnation by far and she's still stuck to just being the damsel in distress limited to cutscenes only. Next trailer for this game better have much more to showcase, otherwise YAWN
I’m sure it will be great, but it reminded me too much of Skyward Sword. Gave me bad vibes!
Nine months till March 2022.
Anyone noticed there's still no news of Silksong? I'm starting to believe something happened to them, as it not normal.
@Yoshilapin I think you are reading into this too much - they are giving us a short ‘hype reel’ to get us on board but refraining largely due to Skyward Sword HDs release as it is the impending game. The focus should be on it as they don’t want to cannibalise any potential sales for Skyward Sword HD. This year isn’t over and BOTWs sequel will be featured in more events (they said they were giving ‘more information’ this year and I think that is still to be fulfilled).
Also have a sneaking suspicion that Skyward Sword HD will work it’s way into the game through narrative inclusion (for example, the robot featured in the trailer). I reckon the Loftwing amiibo will be functional in this game too; working similar to Wolf Link.
I am so hyped! So disappointed about what the loftwing amiibo will do too.
@Hughesy I'm kind of glad. That's one less console I have to try to beat the scalpers to.
@Yoshilapin It looks to me like there are new elements (sky islands, runes, etc) but not different elements. MM had all different things where as this looks like it might be new but mostly similar to BotW (more like expansive DLC than anything else). But then again, this is a proper "sequel" and MM wasn't, so I suppose it makes sense that it's staying a little more similar to BotW.
@MalibuGaGa
E3 2008 says hi I’m sure people thought mystery holiday games were gonna magically appear to us back then too.
@Snaplocket One of my major hopes for this game was playable Zelda, now I'm not so sure...
@Fighter_Hayabusa Same! Those were my exact thoughts after the first trailer.
@grougrou New overworld and underworld areas = a LOT of dev time. Plus, it looks like tons of new mechanics and enemy types.
This looks like the Skyward Sword I WANTED.
I knew it wasn't coming until 2022 when the first teaser was shown. Blah blah is uses the same assets blah blah. Nope this is a main Zelda title...this kind of game takes forever to be complete.
Super disappointed with the Zelda and Metroid 5 reveals. Zelda is a clone of Skyward Sword, which is bad. Metroid looks like a mix of Samus Returns and Fusion, two games that have done all the "new" game mechanics before and better (like samus being hunted by the SA-X)
Well it's nice to finally see something new from this game:)
Link apparently has a mechanical arm now..interesting.
@john_lennon999 yeah I was extremely disappointed in the fact that the game and watch is the only thing we get be sides a Wii remaster like I would be happy with a couple straight ports using the exact same emulator thing as Mario 3D all stars.
@HamatoYoshi Not where I am! And I couldn't get an appointment when they opened back up a couple weeks ago
This Thursday, though... the hair will be GONE
@MalibuGaGa That's a great point about not seeing a holiday title yet (although I do think that the pokemon gen 4 remakes fit into that a little), but I don't think it'll be Zelda focused. I could be wrong, but didn't Aonuma say that there was nothing else happening for Zelda's anniversary this year??
Thanks for the separate video, after brushing and pausing through it a few more times, I'm officially hyped for this sequel.
THEY REALLY GODDAMN DID IT.
The video is coy about it, but keep an eye on the character model in different scenes, including the cutscene where Link [temporarily?] encounters a rather unpleasant fate - the comparative hairstyles (and elsewhere, clothes) look rather telling. Unless I continue hallucinating, we've got two playable protagonists now, making it the TRUE Legend of Zelda among the flagships.
What a time to be alive.
@MalibuGaGa the 2021 Holiday game is Pokémon Brilant Diamond e Shining Pearl, stop believing in rumors, 2D Donkey Kong doest exist.
@CarlosM87 I believe Team Cherry announced a while ago that development was going well but people should not expect anything at E3 2021
Honestly, I expected this to not show up until next year. I'm completely fine with the visuals we did get. Waiting longer won't kill anyone, expecially since delaying the first game worked out VERY well.
Gives me more time to get around to the first game's DLC and pick up Age of Calamity!
I was hoping for an elaborate underworld but more overworld isn't a bad thing. I just hope it has real dungeons!
i told everyone Nintendo is gonna release Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 in holiday 2022/2023, but no one believed me.
Honestly the saving grace of what was imo a pretty unexciting direct. 2022 can’t come fast enough this looks stunning, I just hope it can live up to the hype and exceed expectations just as the original did
@ERIC_MACK oh I’m hyped on a sequel, no doubt. I just hope it doesn’t feel TOO samey
I'm not hyped. It looks the same as BOTW1.
@MalibuGaGa i wish that were true but I'm pretty sure Aonuma said the game and watch is the only thing we are getting for Zelda 35th anniversary besides skyward sword. which is so disappointing
@Crockin Gotcha
@ERIC_MACK I was honestly worried about this team. Quite nerve breaking not to have any news on the only game i was expecting, since Soul Reaver and Silent Hill are a no go until the dead start to come out of their graves.
@marnelljm you made that same comment the E3 right before the Switch Lite was announced
March 3rd, with the Switch Pro, 5th anniversary of BOTW and the Switch, just you watch.
I find this weird. After 2 years they still cannot show us anything that sets this apart from BOTW1. My expectations are rather low at this point...
I loved this! Seems like it might be destined to be the big 2022 Holiday title, though I guess it still could be earlier depending on how their work progresses.
So, Zelda falls in the pit that was at the end of the first trailer and does all the underground stuff while Link does the overworld and sky stuff? Sounds like fun.
As for people wondering about more Zelda games and merch for the anniversary, they don't want to cut into Skyward Sword sales. That's likely why they only mentioned the Game & Watch. I'm anticipating a Zelda anniversary focus after Skyward Sword is out with other games, merch, etc. Here goes all my rupees.
@UltimateOtaku91 @WolfyTn It won't be. Hush!
@Stubborn_Monkey 2022 = November 2022
@KateGray one of those little luxuries we all used to take for granted. I like to get mine cut every two weeks to maintain continuity but not getting it cut in lockdown was a nightmare.
Im very excited to play this game. will have me dusting off my switch
i really need it! can't wait. sad that we didn't get a title though.
I'm a bit hard pressed to relate this back to that dark'ish cave/underground teaser we originally got. I thought they would take the game once more in a different direction.
If nobody had told be about BotW2 being a thing, I would have probably assumed this is a DLC to BotW1 to be honest, that offers new exploration in the sky and tweaks to existing skill.
I do look forward to the game, as I am certain there must be substantial more to it than has been shown here today. Just kinda freaked out a bit by the fact, that they decided to show what they did and really JUST that.
Looked good to me but it seems like Nintendo will focus on Skyward Sword, in 2021. I wouldn't expect any other anniversary announcements, until after SS launches...if at all.
Smart move, I might actually think about buying SS now 🤔
Interesting footage... doesn't answer any of my questions or concerns (not a big fan of BOTW as a Zelda game). Guess the waiting game continues...
I first thought this could be an expansion until I saw the arm abilities. Those mechanics need a new game altogether. Especially a potential “portal” mechanic.
@UndoControl Totally agree, I don't want them to rush it.
For the time it will probably take for this game to come out, they could have made a complete new Zelda game without using the same assets of breath of the wild, while I know it’s a sequel, and with the exception of COVID delaying stuff, I feel if we are going back to the same Hyrule map (on ground) it will be very underwhelming exploring the same ground and villages. Also, the art-style of link free-falling from the sky at the start looks different to the rest of the footage, something odd going on there.
I (and you too, NLife ) expected this to be released at the end of this year, but releasing it next year shows it's surely ambitious for a direct sequel
It's looking similar to the first game at first glance, but maybe there are more differences than what the trailer shows, we need an analysis ASAP!
Also, releasing it alongside a "Switch Pro" would be perfect. But nevermind, that's for another day.
Didn’t love the final comment that it was the goal to bring it out in 2022. That puts this in a position of slipping to 2023. I know. I’m negative, and I know Nintendo is not wanting to create expectations similar to Metroid Prime 4. However, I can’t help but be just cautiously optimistic, now.
Who cares. 2022 could mean a year away, even 18 months. The clip didn't look like much anyway.
We all know it's connected to the New Switch, so that confirms, no new Switch until at least 2022.
@KateGray “The Legend of Zelda: Get A Bloody Haircut, You Look Scruffy”
He couldn’t get his haircut, they were on lockdown
@Ralek85 People are saying that they chose not to show much in order to keep hype focused on SS remastered.
True or not, I do believe that they'll have a decent more to show in the future. That being said, I am nervous about it feeling too much like DLC
@GundamExia "Zelda is a clone of skyward sword". How can you say that from a one minute trailer?? Because it also has elements that are in the sky? Is that the threshhold for a clone?
Seems like you are actively seeking negativity.
Loving the hair flapping in the wind.
@ERIC_MACK I hope though, as frankly the first few seconds ending with Zelda falling into that abyss were the most exciting to me personally. That jumb-cut to the Pixar'esque overworld was a bit jarring ... I'm still not toooo worried of this "being it".
Not sure why, whether it is due to SS or not, but for some reason they are holding back. It'll show up in the 2022 Direct as well for sure, hence we are backing to waiting and hoping! 😉
@lifepsychedelic Not sure what you mean. The video in the article isn't playing for you?
In the short bit of footage we got there already seems to be a number of "new" things. I think it's clear there will be plenty more revealed closer to the game's release. And it's a sequel to Breath of the Wild, of course it's going to look similar, that doesn't automatically make it a copy and paste.
So glad we got some updated footage, but now I just want to see more. Can't wait for this game!
I know BOTW is set after Skyward Sword, but this would have been interesting if this was before Skyward Sword, and this explains how Skyloft originated.
I still think there will be more Zelda this year, similar to the Mario All Stars reveal last year
Hope they change the world on ground level enough to feel fresh..
So Link’s an amputee/cyborg now? The game looks pretty prototype-y for now, though we’re still a while away. Also looks like the 35th anniversary direct leak was Fake News.
After 4 years since BOTW, I think they should have shown more. Also agree about the concern about the map being the same.
@Ralek85 Agreed. Btw, I don't think that's Zelda falling in the beginning - it looks like it could be because of the hair, but you can see the clothes reveal the back and torso making me think it'd be link
Beautiful. I simply can't wait. Just wish it stated early 2022.
Anyone else think that villain could be Demise?
How do they still manage to make link look less and less like link and more ugly. Jesus christ
It's still too early to tell but i was hoping this would be botw's majora's mask, but that was quite boring. Except for that liquid ability thing. That looked pretty interesting
Just looked like the first game. The music was immense though.
Felt like an afterthought. We must show this! But in the end. Yawn.
My god, some of you truly never are happy.
Guessing BoTW2 doesn't live up to the hype, going by how so many people are whining and disappointed.
Glad that's not me, thankfully.
This looks fantastic and I can't wait till it comes out next year (fingers crossed).
Amazing!
Man digging those new powers.
Cant wait to play this beautif gem!
Serieus that hair!
At this whole trailer i stopped breathing haha.
Legend of zelda: i need to breathe of the wild haha
I don't know how to feel about it. Not a fan of Link's redesign, I hope he's at least the same character and they don't pull any stuff like him "fusing with the past hero to become one person" or something like that. The skies and islands looked really cool but they didn't seem to be visible for half the trailer, specifically the parts with Link's old design. Which just worries me more that they'll completely change Link's character or personality halfway through the game. Those new powers were interesting, but that clip of Link? just casually melting through solid rock is cursed 😂. They didn't reveal dungeons or anything but I'll hold out hope for a little longer. Anyway, I hope this game ends up being decent at least and doesn't completely destroy the franchise forever. Honestly at this point, the series seems to be heading the wrong way.
@EliteXeos
Me too, i am riding on the hype train with a smile lol.
I would love to see every Zelda game released on Switch, but I don't get the expectation for a 35 year anniversary. Why 35? Because Mario got a 35? Let's not forget that they murdered Mario at the end of his anniversary celebration. Do we really want them to do that to Link?
I love how everybody is like "this is too similar to BotW/looks like DLC" judging from, at most, 30 seconds of gameplay. And despite the fact that in those 30 seconds they showed 3 or 4 abilities that weren't in the first game.
@grougrou .... I dunno but "building an entire new world in the skies ABOVE of the existing world which will also have Changes of it's own to take into account" would sound a good reason for Well That's Why It's Taking So Long?
Botw with wider map and action i think
Looks great. I expect it will be late next year so still a long way off but that’s OK, take your time Nintendo.
@ERIC_MACK 😂 Actually that 's possible, but I just rewatched and paused at 00:16 and the hair cut screams Zelda to me, instead of link. At least it does very much look like her braids from BotW and entirely unlike anything I've seen Link with. But then again, it's all pretty fuzzy thanks to the low resolution.
I was hoping for lots of dungeon-crawling underneath Hyrule, not this.
@stinky_t I dunno for you but "some Sky Islands" actually looked a lot like "an entire world map's worth of Sky Islands" looking at the distance of stuff.
Aside for a split second 5 seconds in, Link's face is never shown again. You also don't hear any of his typical grunts and whatnot. I found that to VERY intriguing. It makes me seriously wonder if maybe the hero in BOTW 2 isn't the same Link from the first BOTW.
If it's NOT Link, then there are all sorts of possibilities:
Maybe it's an entirely different character - one that isn't in the lineage of Link's family?
Maybe it's Zelda? (doubtful, but you never know. The long hair does make me wonder, though.)
Maybe it's a Link from a different game and era? I actually think this would be the most likely scenario. And if this would be the case, I think the most obvious Link would be the one from Skyward Sword. There were lots of elements to the game that seemed HEAVILY borrowed from Skyward Sword. Also the clothing.
That would also add a new wrinkle to Skyward Sword's remaster. What if it isn't just a cynical cash grab? What if it's also being done to serve as a was to become reacquainted with that version of Link so that we'll remember more of his backstory for when we play him in BOTW 2? (or in the case of those who never played that game, an introduction).
Of course, in the split second that Link was shown, it appeared as though he was being drawn into malice by his arm. That the hero seems to use an arm attachment in some of the combat sequences would suggest that it's the same Link that we see at the start of the trailer - but it could also be a red herring.
If it IS Link, could it be that his face is heavily scarred / mutilated from being taken into the malice?
Just some thoughts. What do you think?
This trailer did nothing for me...am I the only one?
@Ensemen Seriously, I don't know where people are coming with that negativity. Like... ***** they've shown that ontop of the whole Hyrule world map likely remaining as large as it is, they built up an entire sky world of new content for Link to visit and travel around in paraglider and gods know what.
Plus that skyworld outfit looked very unusual, like some kind of "sacred realm" kind of outfit which makes me wonder if those islands are more than "just" islands in the sky" because they also reminds me of the bit of floating sky islands teased in A Link Between World when we glimpse at the Sacred Realm in the ending.
@countzero
Yeah, this trailer showed everyone exactly what Nintendo said the game would be - a sequel to Breath of the Wild - with new + reworked locations and features, set in the same world with the same general gameplay mechanics as the first game.
If anyone was expecting anything significantly different from that, then they were setting themselves up for crushing disappointment.
It's totally ridiculous that we still didn't get a name! xD
@basswitch I kinda get the impression based on the two teaser trailers, that this game will have both skyward island and underground tunnels.
Looks incredible. Glad the overwhelming majority of people seem to share that opinion. It’s not exactly what I was “expecting” but our guesses and expectations are irrelevant to whether it will be good or not. And I have no doubt it will be good.
People need to learn to appreciate things for what they are and not condemn them for failing to line up with their personal wishlist/speculations that they based on almost nothing. We have two brief trailers to go on, so it’s dumb to pass judgment on it at this point.
I'm just worried that the game will feel mostly like a BotW expansion and not enough like a new game to keep me interested in it. BotW had virtually no story so if it's the same world mostly with the same npc's and as lackluster of a story, I don't know if I'll enjoy it. Hope I'm wrong! I've been loving Zelda games since OoT so it would be a real bummer if same thing happened to them as Pokemon these days.
@HamatoYoshi hairdressers have been closed for 100 years
@Yoshilapin You seem really fun, reasonable, and smart.
I'm really not sure how some are complaining that the game, aesthetically, looks like Breath of the Wild when it's been clear from day one that this is a direct sequel to that game. Of course it's gonna share the same visual look.
And folks are jumping to some really early judgements based off of nothing really. I say we show a little patience and
@UndoControl lol I'm down with that.
@Snaplocket What do you mean? She’s right at the start falling into a pit. That’s what everyone was asking the devs for right? 🤔
@John_Koshiro I'm not expecting the Guardians to return on my end. There's been a.... notable absence of Sheikah tech I'm noticing except, maybe, for the arm.
I don't know if the theory is true, but I've seen a fan theory that seemed to be pretty solid that the sealed Ganondorf might have been the unwitting(and unknown even to the Sheikah) source of the "Ancient Energy" that powered all the ancient sheikah tech.
Notable by the structure that stand above him keeping him sealed being very similar in shape to the Shrine of Resurection but seemingly of an entirely different make from the Sheikah stuff... meaning that whoever might have sealed him might not have been the Sheikah and that when his malice likely leaked from an imperfect seal to form into Calamity Ganon.... it might have been his power all along that the Sheikah would have likely unknowingly tapped into when they discovered Ancient Energy to power their weapons.
This could easily explains why he overtook the Guardians so easily the second time around and similarly why we hear about Vah Ruta ceasing to function in the ending for BOTW if he was in the process of freeing himself at the start of BOTW2. Because the power source(him) might have finally unplugged himself.
I think it will link with Skyward Sword and go back in time to the Pre-SS time period that features in that game. I reckon that’s why SS has been remade as it links in to this
One of the things I liked the least in BotW were the mobs: basically just Bokoblins, Lizalfos, Talus and Hinox over and over again. It got absolutely boring as heck and towards the end of the game I tried actively to avoid all battles. What concerns me is that the only battle we saw in this trailer was a Bokoblin camp on top of a... Stone Talus. How very interesting. 😐
@UndoControl I’m asking myself these same questions 👍
I see why they are porting Skyward Sword now ... Skyward Sword x Breath of the Wild x Kid Icarus. Hopefully there is more to it, because this does not look like 4 years worth of work
Some of that gameplay footage does not look like Link.
I'm incredulous reading through all this knee-jerk disappointment in the comments. I can't believe how fickle people are, and it shows just how wildly unrealistically sky-high people's expectations were for the next big Zelda game. It was originally revealed as Breath of the Wild TWO. Like, what else could you guys have expected other than more BOTW??
And I'm truly baffled that people are taking out-of-context clips in a very short teaser trailer as to confirm that BOTW2 will not pull Majora's Mask-esque plot twists during the game. All we know is that the story will be darker, so if anything is confirmed, it's that we know it will not be a complete retread of BOTW1.
Seeing Link fall through the sky just like Skyward Sword, but with the beautiful BOTW graphics gave me goosebumps!! My mind is blown with the prospect of exploring a whole world map of sky islands amidst gorgeous clouds.
I just don't understand all of the Skyward Sword hate. It's almost like cashing in on a trend to act like it's a terrible game and anything associated with it is terrible. Skyward Sword is a GORGEOUS game. Regardless of anything else. BOTW2 taking visual elements from Skyward Sword is AMAZING in my book!
@Ulysses Some people in here are only happy when they're crying...
@BAN Honestly none of it lined up with my expectations.... but weirdly enough I'm actually MORE glad for it because what I'm seeing seem actually wilder than what I was expecting, honestly.
Especially that skies layer to the world, and a lot of the other stuff(why is Link wearing the blue tunic on the surface but this completely different outfit in the skies? Why does he even keep his hair differently in the sky, unbound from his usual ponytail, and why is it we can't even see his face when he's in the skies"
Also I'm noticing the shield in the skies segment has both the Sheikah Eye motif, or a variant of it, but also prominent triangles patterns on it. And the whole outfit feels kind of like.... sacred/ceremonial garb which with a lot of the skies ruins reminds me of the floating islands of the "Sacred Realm" we glimpse at the end of A Link Between World. Like the whole islands give a hidden sacred realm kind of vibe which have me REALLY curious.
@xerneas I dunno but I'm pretty sure I got a weird ceilling-hangy funky arm enemy lunge at link in the trailer?
Plus that weird animated colorful statue itself had a huge "this is about to attack Link" vibe.
@Moshugan I'm actually musing about that myself.
Especially with the whole "Zelda falling down the bottomless chasm pit" bit of the trailer. I expected her to be stuck in the castle but it looks like she could have fallen in whatver pit is under the Castle.
And alongside all the Skyward vibes, that bit and all the Malice pouring out reminds me that Skyward Sword's plot mentioned Demise specifically came from a great chasm in the ground, implied to having come out of the demon realms from that chasm.
@Ludovsky I was gonna say the same thing. My jaw dropped a bit seeing Link (or at least what looked like Link) falling from the skies. Honestly, I don't really know what kind of expectations I had for the game other than being a sequel to BOTW. I certainly didn't expect direct call backs (and possibly a direct connection) to Skyward Sword. If this game does tie back to Skyward Sword's story, I can't wait to see how it plays out.
I am going to buy this game as soon as it releases
@Ralek85 the character still has a male figure. So he could be Link with his hair... just not held in their usual ponytail.
The outfit change remains very curious however. Especially with the almost... ceremonial/sacred look of his garb in the skies sections, doublemoreso when surrounded with all these temple-like ruins there.
which reminded me that in A Link Between World, the Sacred Realm(aka the land of the Triforce aka the purified Dark Realm from A Link to the Past) was glimpsed at the end and looked like.... floating islands in the skies.
I don't know why, but I get the weird vibes we might finally hear of the Triforce again in this game after it's absence in BOTW and Twillight Princess.
Let's think.
So it would be a miracle if it actually came out in 2022, considering that BOTW1 took on many delays.
Next, maybe either big holiday game or big summer game, in my opinion. I'm also sad about no Zelda playability ( as far as we've seen). Also, I feel like this might be a T game. And that portal system idea.... I really don't know if it would suit a game like BOTW. I also kinda hope that you could choose a difficulty because i love BOTW, but i suck at it.
End of story.
Edit: saw the delay coming bois
@UmbreonsPapa Yeah!
Honestly the contrast between Blue Champion Tunic Link on what are the obvious "segments on the Surface World" and that almost... toga/sacred garb look in the skies sequence have me really curious what's going on.
Heck the skies islands themselves have a really heavy "sacred lands" vibe which also remind me that when the Sacred Realm(aka: purified version of A Link to the Past's dark world, the hiding place of the Triforce and all) was shown in the ending of A Link Between World.... it was as islands floating in a sky iirc.
Honestly... while I'm not making any bet... I have this weird feeling that, after it's absence in BOTW, we might start hearing about the triforce again in this game.
Also other thing I noticed: the near total absence of Sheikah tech. Arm aside(and I'm not sure it's neccessarily "tech" due to personal theories).... not a guardian in sight, nor sheikah shrine or anything.
Which reminds me of a theory about Ganondorf that Calamity Ganon was just the result of an imperfect seal on the corpse teased, seal placed by a people NOT the Sheikah, and that when the Sheikah later faced the Calamity the first time the power source they might have unknowingly tapped upon for their tech.... might have been energy drained from Ganondorf himself all along.
Which'd explains his easy hijacking of Guardians in BOTW if he'd been the thing powering them all along, with no one knowing because they weren't aware he was sealed down there, only that there was a powerful source of power to tap into.
I am a bit disappointed as this looks just like an expansion for BOTW ....was expecing a darker tone :/
@EliteXeos Honestly, they've been so hesitant about giving release date for projects like this since Metroid Prime 4's stumbling,...the fact they're giving a 2022 potential date make me feel they wouldn't have given such a date, let alone showcased actual gameplay, if they weren't 90% sure they could pull it off.
Like, there's reasons they didn't show gameplay last February for the other Direct and IMO that's because they've grown REALLY careful about giving out release dates for anything that's not coming out the given year.
@Ralek85 The main culprit for me is that it looks like the outfit leaves the right side of the torso exposed and I don't think Nintendo would doing like that with the princess lol 😂
@BlackenedHalo I dunno but Hyrule Castle at the end has a LOT of implication of the darker type. Plus whatever that chasm Zelda fell upon might be.
Also there's stuff about the skies islands and how Link get there(plus that garb he's wearing in all of the skies shots and how it contrast with the champion tunic he's wearing whenever it's clear he's on the surface) has me thinking there's more going there than "just" islands in the skies(especially as the surface is visible from those islands but none of the islands seems visible from the surface in any shots).
@ERIC_MACK Plus if you zoom on those shots, the weird almost prosthetic arm would fit with... whatever happens to Link's arm in the trailer.
Heck, even the patterns on it almost match the jewelry of the ghost arm that catch him and seemed to merge with his hand/arm in the 2019 trailer.
@Ulysses Exactly! Plus they must have forgotten that we´re living in a pandemic!
THINGS ARE NOT GOING SMOOTHLY AS WAS THEY WERE BEFORE. EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED AND NOBODY WAS READY FOR SOMETHING AS BIGGER AND IMPACTFUL AS COVID. Mental health of most of us is completly crushed.
Even though, Im excited for new games, I´m more worried about the human lifes of nintendo.
Games will eventually come sooner or later, while our lives will fade away one day...
It´s kinda sad there are people who do not take that into account... People can be really spoiled and ruthless sometimes!
Botw 2 will obviously be different than what we haven seen, just like it happened with botw1. For some reason they are insecure about it´s release date and that´s fine. Good things take time and nintendo knows exactly what not to do, especially with a game as anteciped as Botw2.
“New Breath of the Wild” is a very Nintendo title, they should go with that.
@Ludovsky Good catch
@BAN 🤣🤣🤣
This peep brought me so so much joy, but the news that they have no plans for any other Zelda ports absolutely broke my heart! I was so hoping for a couple of the golden oldies to arrive.
@octokid As I mentioned to others.... while they leave a "tentatively aiming" part hanging in the air, I don't think they would have mentioned the number of 2022 if they weren't fairly confident they could pull it off this time.
Ever since Metroid Prime 4, I've noticed Nintendo is VERY shy about revealing stuff without gameplay or indication it's going to feasibly come in any fashion. To the point I've gotten the feeling that generally they'd rather not show anything if there was hints it could not be ready in time or get derailed.
That they've shown something with as massive implications like the skies islands we've now seen(are they the new replacement for Shrines? Or something like a second layer to the world, especially seeing Link paraglider around them and being able to see the Surface from up there... though I've noticed the islands themselves can't be seen from the Surface)... I don't think they would give the 2022 if they thought it wouldn't happen and only went "we're ideally aiming for" just to leave some leeways in case something DOES catastrophically happen.
@CairiB I dunno but I recall hearing from the guy who'd accurately reported months in advances the release of Mario 3D All-Stars and Paper Mario that Wind Waker and Twillight Princess might be coming this year but just aren't announced yet so they don't overshadow Skyward Sword. Especially since Skyward isn't even out.
If anything else Zelda do come in the near future, it likely won't be revealed until Skyward Sword is finally gone and released proper again to not hinder it's performance.
With the fact that BOTW2 gets a skies segment, I heavily suspect there's reasons they want Skyward to do at least decently okay.
The pandemic and resulting mental health crisis are all the more reason for Nintendo to get out its big games in 2020 and 2021. Seems they’ve let everyone down right when we need them the most, thus they literally have blood on their hands.
Mmmm after thinking about ii, for many people breath of wild was a kind of perfect game. Freedom to do whatever u want go in any direction and stuff, a beautiful relaxing airy over world. This new trailer is like being in that same world but with more clutter in it. Hey it’s Zelda so it’s a day one . But I don’t like clutter xxxx
@Kaori-chan I was going to say the same thing. I know some people are outwardly negative about it, but I don't see all the "whining" going on to the degree that some are commenting on.
I'm not personally excited about the game but I don't think it'll be bad/Nintendo is the worst or anything. It's just not looking like something I'm super interested in.
And to add to that, I know that this is a judgement based off of very little info, but I'm not saying I will definitely not like it. Once we learn more, I might totally turn around with it, but in the interest of discussing what we think of things revealed up to this point, I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions. And from what I've seen, many other people feel similarly which is really interesting! I thought that I'd be alone in this.
@zoneseek
You must be reeeeally new to the world of gaming! 😝 LOL
Considering Zelda games are ALWAYS delayed, I’m guessing 2023 at best. I hope I’m wrong obviously lol, I want to play this game quite badly.
I figure Metroid Dread will be on time however.
@Euler
No, Nintendo does "not literally have blood on their hands", especially in the context of an actual pandemic that has actually killed ~3.8 million people.
GTFO with this hyperbolic nonsensical garbage.
March 2022... Question is, will the Switch Pro be November 2021 or also March 2022?
@holygeez03
Switch Pro will launch before Nov 2021 and BOTW2 will not make Mar 2022 unless a miracle occurs.
The game looks so good, and judging from the footage will have an identity of its own in comparison to BOTW, which for me was the main thing I was worried about.
@Kaori-chan You're allowed to be disappointed, and I'm allowed to disagree with your disappointment, and you're also allowed to be offended by my disagreement with your disappointment, and I'm even allowed to protest your offense to my disagreement with your disappointment. 'Tis the circle of [internet] life.
I'm confused by people expecting this to be a mere expansion of Breath of the Wild.
It's clearly a whole new game but with the same engine as its prequel. Like Majora's Mask on the N64. I'm sure some assets and locations will be similar, for poetic effect (and shortened development times), but otherwise it's obviously a major, mainline Zelda. That's why it's taking so long.
@ERIC_MACK At least not outside of Japan I guess! 🤣
2022????? Again I must wait, the same old graphics.
total disappointment.
@ERIC_MACK another Muddy! E3 was a FAIL because NO NEW MOLE MANIA.
Overall the Direct was pretty sweet, but I hoped we'll see some Zelda Anniversary Collection.
@Peterchu Thanks. But I think the flame thrower was a separate item, because he held it in his left hand. And I assume "going upwards" is not a freely usable item/ability, but restricted to certain points.
I thought it looked nuts...Ocarina and Majora's Mask use the same engine - and look how completely different in tone and story they are. I see new play mechanics in this game too, travelling between dimensions or time it seems, plus that warping hand jazz.
I get a feeling Skyward Sword being released prior isn't accidental either, they obviously want to ready people for this flying mechanic they've brought in or refresh people on some story element that will be in this new game. But hey, it was only a minute or so footage, too little to gauge at this mo. Consider me interested.
Demise will be the main antagonist.
The sound effect of Link passing up through solid rock had similarities to sound effects in Twilight Princess' Twilight Realm.
Clearly Loftwings will be in this game.
Link gets a Samus Aran arm cannon? Awesome!
@Kaori-chan I don't think anyone is saying you can't express disappointment in a product. I think the argument is that for some of these declarations and judgement calls, we don't a lot to go on. You make a point that this is what we've got to go on and everyone is more than in their right to feel how they want about it as far as whether it piques there interest. But I don't know how much else can be judged when we don't even know the exact context of what we were seeing outside of some guess work in terms of connections to prior games.
As for the disappointment that this game looks like BOTW. Again, it was revealed as a sequel to that particular Zelda titles. Going by that and the original teaser trailer, I think most people and industry folks surmised that the game, at least in it's look, would probably be similar to Breath of the Wild. So the comments in that regard seem pretty odd to me.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this gets a dual release for the new switch system next year along with the original.
@Snaplocket she fell of a cliff and died
@Euler That's literally the dumbest, most hyperbolic and melodramatic comment that I've ever read on this site - or maybe any site for that matter.
If it's reusing so much components of the first game, which visually it appears to, not sure it makes much sense to be in development this long. Oh well, I guess. Not like I'm not going to buy it day one but seems like an awful long tease.
@arrmixer Definitely wouldn't be the first time.
@rob3r7o but you'll but it anyway. You know it, I know it, and everybody else, including Nintendo, knows it.
I think that's a really disappointing trailer overall, even though it's awesome to have a Skyloft islands connection confirmed (although this was already heavily hinted via Skyword Sword's release - which also heavily hinted at the inevitable 2022 release too giving space for SS to sell).
I think when you put the two BotW2 trailers released so far together... meh.
Definitely happy to wait until 2022. Just would have been nice to see some proper content - but I appreciate we're still so far from release that a lot could change. With that in mind... why even talk about this game for 3 years? It will be worth the wait, just it's easier to wait when you don't know about it ! (And that goes for Metroid Prime 4 too - although I have far less confidence in that turning out "good").
Covid has undoubtedly robbed us all of a year of Nintendo content. 2022 is the new 2021 with BotW 2 and Switch Pro.
Although I am disappointed in a way that there won't be a huge anniversary blowout for my favorite series of all time, I'm also glad in a way. That means that anything Zelda-themed they release probably won't be limited edition like the Mario 35th stuff was. I haven't seen anything saying the Skyward Sword joy-cons are limited, and I hope that means they plan to continue selling them.
I loved this trailer! I love Link's look and new outfits and the new elements. People have a right to complain, of course, but we've gotten just a few minutes total so I think it's way too soon to judge how good this game will be just based off two trailers. We didn't see much of BotW at first, either, and it ended up being great. I'm optimistic for this game, as well! Of course, I've absolutely loved every single mainline Zelda game and all of the spin-offs I've played, so I'm sure I'll love this one, too.
Really hope we do get underground areas to explore, too, though! And maybe some underwater areas?
@arrmixer
Switch 2 isn't coming next year.
@john_lennon999
It's not like there is nothing to play, between now and then. With all due respect, if you can't find at least a few games out of the following that interest you, then is your disappointment really with the Switch/Nintendo:
-No More Heroes III
-Metroid Dread
-Mario Tennis
-Warioware: Get It Together
-SMTV
-NEO: The World Ends With You
-Mario + Rabbids 2
-Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
-Hollow Knight Silksong
And, of course, it's not like there won't be surprise announcements/releases, along the way. Compared to every other company, Nintendo absolutely killed it this year.
@Ludovsky Agree with all that. I think it looks great. I personally loved Skyward Sword (I think a lot of the hate is from bandwagoners and people who never even played it and are condemning it based on what they've heard about it) and I think it's awesome that they're working some elements from that game into this one. From a gameplay perspective, it makes for an interesting way to traverse a world that we've already thoroughly explored, and for another thing it ties the oldest point in the timeline to the final point in the timeline, and from a lore perspective I think that's rad as F.
I really get the feeling that the person in the sky is Zelda. It looks like her hair and her body, and the clothes are definitely more feminine looking. Nintendo knows that a ton of people were clamoring for a playable Zelda before BotW came out. Of course BotW Link is a little androgynous looking, so it could all be Link, but I think there's enough hints that it's Zelda to make that theory plausible.
I also love the thought of having some kind of connection to Link Between Worlds. I feel like we don't get enough cross-referencing between the 3D games and the 2D ones, so it would be cool to get some kind of firm nod to that version of the Zelda universe.
The trailer was incredible but I do think it's odd that we're going to the sky again in a Zelda. Every game in the series always has a completely new gimmick such as trains, becoming thumb-sized, travelling through time...but this is just Skyward Sword's gimmick again. They even have Zelda falling, like when she fell to the surface world + Link looks identical to how he used to when he drops through the sky
@LXP8 To be honest, the sky wasn't Skyward Sword's gimmick. It was just a setting. The gimmick was the motion controls obviously!
@Moshugan I would say it was both. The sky was that games equivalent to the dark world in ALTTP or seeing the world from an alternate perspective in Minish Cap by shrinking.
@Ludovsky I'm thinking that maybe both Link and Zelda are playable, and Link is played above ground and in the sky, and Zelda is played underground! I hope you could switch at will between them, but maybe the times when you play as Zelda are separated linear sections just like when you play as Ciri in Witcher 3.
@LXP8 I guess you kinda have a point, but I would offer a different perspective: The sky isn't the gimmick, but rather the gimmick was the structure of the game. Instead of an interconnected or somewhat open world of the past titles, there were these separated section on earth which you entered to via a hub world which was the sky.
And BotW2 differs from that in that there are no separated sections and it's all open.
A little shocked nobody is talking about Link's clothes after the stink BOTW kicked up with the Champion's tunic reveal.
@Moshugan It's always two perspectives of the same world with these types of Zelda gimmicks, but in the case of BOTW2, you are free to explore both with no barrier between and interact with them simultaneously. With Skyward Sword it was one or the other, same as the Dark World, time travel, Twilight Realm. You could even say that the more dungeon-like and segmented overworld of Skyward Sword was yet another gimmick of the game as it had never been done before and was part of the reason the game felt so linear for most of it's duration.
@Andy_Witmyer Keep licking those boots.
@Muddy_4_Ever Out with E3, in with M3 (Mole Mania Movement)!
A) A sequel (for a game about exploration) shouldn't just look identical to the previous game with a few new bits thrown in.
B) If you liked the 1st BOTW and want the exact same stuff again...go replay the 1st game.
C) The pandemic is not a valid excuse for anything. We've all had to work from home, churning out the same level of work under difficult circumstances. Nintendo are an extremely wealthy and massive corporation.
Looks a bit similar honestly.
@Peterchu from what I saw he shot flames from another hand….. I may be wrong
Meh. Did not really grab me. It looks like an expansion of the BOTW story with some new mechanics possibly. I was expecting more since the direct was kind of lacking out side of Metroid.
Okay, i didn't read all the comments, but what if each floating island was a dungeon? That was the biggest criticism of BotW. So what if instead of under, you went up to the dungeon?
@BanjoPickles to tell you the truth of all these titles I would only play Warioware and not for a long time. There are many titles that only got a port, it could be a new Mario Kart, Pikmin, Captain Toad, Mario and Luigi, a Zelda collection for the 35th, even the forgotten Gamecube Chibi Robo. I don't say there are not enough new titles, but there are not enough new titles that I want to play. I am a little obsessed with 2-3 N franchises and nothing else that much. I have a huge backlog, but I prefer to play again my favourite games instead. And I would love more than anything a Lego City Undercover sequel, not a Nintendo title but loved this on Wii U. At least it was a good presentation for most people and a good one for Nintendo.
In my opinion the BOTW2 portion of the Direct was disappointing for several reasons. First I will say that the "darker" portions of the video look fantastic. However when we break it down here is what we got:
1) No title;
2) A very short trailer...only approximately 1 minute and 20 seconds of video;
3) No new enemies shown;
4) Nothing that the first trailer didn't show except what now appears to he floating islands above Hyrule
5) No hint of Temples
6) No footage of shrines (assuming they have them again)
7) No Zelda (after seemingly highlighted in first trailer)
8) A very familiar map aside from the floating "Islands"/Hyrule Castle
9) More Bobgoblins
10) What appears to be similarities taken from Skyward Sword...when we already have SS coming out.
When we all saw the first trailer it appeared to have a very dark tone. Their were hints of the alternating worlds we saw in Twilight Princess. In this trailer there were some hints of a darker tone...only then to shift to Link Falling from the sky and then rising up to what appears to be floating islands. This trailer didn't really tell us anything we didn't already know (again minus the floating islands). To me that is concerning. I also get the sense they don't have any real direction to the game. I am not convinced they know exactly where they want to go yet (I think the very short trailer and lack or new details suggest that). I don't think they have made much progress in the past two years. I also wouldn't be surprised if they scrap development given the lack of real advancement shown thus far. Just my thoughts and opinions!!!
@Tom-Nook even Tom Nook would give his money for N64 Zelda HD!
@ItsAMeWario
Nintendo isn't going to scrap development on their biggest project over personal trailer nitpicks that most people don't share (the YouTube trailer has a 99+% like ratio).
@john_lennon999
Lego City Undercover was a great game that deserves a sequel!
@russell-marlow more like botw 2:Ganondorfs wrath and i do expect this is going to be the most powerful incarnation of ganondorf then the past one and we might see him lay wastes to towns in this one.
@RiasGremory Sure why not?
Awesome trailer! Looks like a killer expansion to the BOTW world. Bring it on!
I've been saying since WW, "Give him a tiny airship, Nintendo!" Like a little blimp! The Loftwings were close! This could be the one! Come on Nintendo. You gave one to Beedle!
Oh man....the sequel to the masterpiece that got me back into gaming. It looks so perfect......
@ItsAMeWario Did we watch the same trailer? There’s some sort of new cyclops robot thing (not of Sheikah design) at about 0:35 followed by some sort of Talus-based Bokoblin fortress.
Hopefully it doesn't get delayed.
The Super Mario 35th Anniversary set some pretty bad expectations for this 35th Anniversary. Gotta say, I was not disappointed because I knew Nintendo wasn't going to release all these games at full force. Remember, two of them are Wii U releases, so they wouldn't be close to each other.
@Moshugan Honestly if Zelda is playable at all I expect it to be through more linear sequences myself as well. Nintendo never really did a multiple protagonists game before in Zelda game so it's likely that "playable Zelda" might be more akin to "playable Peach" segments in Paper Mario games(64 and Thousand Years Door) of controlling Peach to perform some objectives to help Mario before switching back to the later.
This said I'd rather not have an expectation of such and risk being disapointed. The fact we know the main map is "the same, but likely experienced changes", that we know the world might have underground caves(from the 2019 teaser) and that now there's ruins/islands floating in the "skies"... like, that's just world design alone and not covering NPCs, story, dialogues, quests and sidequests designs to not mentions enemies old and news and bosses likely new(and possibly true dungeons hidden around the world or those sky islands to face them in).... I could see why not only crafting this but the amount of design and planning work that went into decisions to make this(and the amount of ideas juggled around that might not have made it) could have taken four years... and that's assuming four years instead of three or so since after all... they only revealed the original teaser in 2019, yet in 2018 they were still releasing the last of the expansion pass' content for BOTW1(and one which included new major shrines, items but also an entirely new dungeon and fullblown boss) so 2019 is likely only when they were finally able to get their full team to bear on the project.
@SortingHat switch pro is not happening dude get over it and besides switch 2 is around the corner.
@Euler "keep licking those boots"
What are you even talking about? Providing a theory about what might be happening in a trailer while stating that maybe it's not a coincidence that Nintendo has opted re-release Skyward Sword ahead of BOTW2 is licking Nintendo's boot?
If that's what you're implying, then I implore you to go back re-read what I said. In fact, here - I'll make it easier for you. These were my exact words:
"What if it isn't JUST a cynical cash grab? What if it's ALSO being done to serve as a was to become reacquainted with that version of Link..."
Since you clearly can't read, I've added a capitalized emphasis to the words "ALSO" and "JUST", so as to demonstrate that I never said SS WASN'T a cash grab.
But, if the meaning of what I had said is still not clear to you, then let me
try to phrase it in another way:
"I'm of the opinion that the Skyward Sword remaster is cynical cash grab. However, if SS should happen to be in any way connected to BOTW2, then that could be one more reason for why Nintendo has decided to hastily re-release it."
In any case, my advice to you would be to
1. brush up on your basic reading comprehension skills, and
2. GFY
@Andy_Witmyer You seem rather upset about something. Obviously Nintendo’s game drought at the worst possible time hasn’t been kind to everyone’s mental well-being.
The game looks so nice , once again free to explore this time in heavens , with new armor new weapons and new abillities .I just hope we will have the game in our Switch in 2022 with no delays coming from pandemic or other reasons . I also hope to collect the money for the Switch Pro version ( if it exist ) because id love to play the game in 4k , if i dont manage to collect the money i am still glad that i will get to play this master-piece in my old switch even with worse graphics, because it is something we all wait for so long !!
@damien33ad What the hell are you going on about? All I said is we want a game where Zelda can also be playable. Ironically, YOU'RE the one who made it political. "Unga bunga, you want play female? Grug no like politics. Not allowed. Me no like playable women. Grug smash woman with club".
Zelda has never been playable in the 35 years the franchise has been around. Meanwhile the Mario franchise has had Peach playable on many occasions even though she's usually a damsel. What's Zelda's series excuse?
Just because people want to play as Zelda, doesn't mean it's "political" Imagine applying your logic to the Mario series?
"Why can't we have one Mario game where Mario saves Peach? Is that wrong? Peach is not going to fend off Bowser (unless she is powered-up), she will need help due to biology-thats Mario. A hero. A plumber who defends those who need help."
See how ridiculous that sounded? Because that's how ridiculous you sounded. Zelda series need to change things up and allow Zelda to be playable ALONG with Link. I never said she's needs to be the star of the game. Mario games also allow Luigi, Peach Toad, Rosalina, and Toadette to be playable. Should they stop allowing Peach and Rosalina to be playable because in your words, "A girl is not going to fend off a large man and will need help due to her biology"?
Let's also cancel Tomb Raider and replace her with a man because that "poor girl can't defend herself against anyone due to her biology". I'm no feminist, but damn you're one sexist, angry dude. Immediately defecting to "westerners dumb, GRRR," just showed how rage filled your mindset is lol.
Also ,"If i see a woman getting beat up i should just walk by because someone like you complains about damsel in distress?" Dude, what kind of absurd logic is this *****? I bet you're a real riot at a party. Someone mentions wanting to play as a female character and you go into a fit about gender politics and the westerners ruining the world.
Lmao, man, maybe get off the internet every now and then and interact with actual people. Maybe you wont get so upset over someone wanting to play as a fictional princess in a video game.

I’m not exactly sure I understand why you even needed to assume something like that in the first place.
I’m in my mid-twenties with my own flat, paying my own bills and purchasing my own luxuries. I think I’m more than qualified to throw my hat in the ring.
And being skeptical is fine wen it comes to making purchases.You evaluate all the pros and cons of something before biting the bullet on getting it.
That said, this was a 90 second trailer and people are already calling it disappointing when they barely know anything.
Skeptical? Sure. Jumping the gun? Very much so.
I'm both excited to see the sky opening up and slightly disappointed at the same time; I would have preferred dungeons etc being more "naturally" placed under a mountain, or behind a waterfall, playing a flute at a lake etc without having to go through an actual door/temple to load into. Seems the sky might just be a way to get lots of temples into the game without the effort of moulding them into natural locations. It's smart to bring down complexity for them, but not ideal for me
@john_lennon999 yeah he would!
