@Shepdawg1 The direct had two different games that screamed "Remember how you loved Metroid Prime Trilogy and Paper Mario in the '00s? Well they're both DEAD!"
All they have left for me now is Zelda (don't screw it up) and Monster Hunter (impossible to screw up).
Y'know, this is why Nintendo can't screw the NX up. It's success is the most immediate chance Monster Hunter has at a console entry in the near future.
I had this problem with the Witcher 3 too. As well as basic readable text size (these aren't PC games, guys) developers need to wise up and cut back on UI in places. I'm real sick of games where it's difficult to look around for want of white space.
I guess they really want to go after specifically the Metroid and Vania parts of the genre 0_0 Anyway, Nintendo better be turning this down because they've got a better Prime game in the works, not just because they're sexist and don't want to pay for even an Arkham Origins-quality Metroid Prime game. I'd love an Origins-like Prime game, dammit! Especially with current gen visuals.
Just bring back every single third generation Monster. Hell, take out some bad 1st/2nd gen Monsters like Gravios, Ukanlos, any of the raptors, or Rajang if you need to; they weren't that much fun to fight anyway.
It's good that you're covering the best combat system in video game history. Monster Hunter X looks quite similar to its predecessors, but Capcom seem to be greatly mixing up the combat engine, which totally changes the game. Between that, several new areas, 6+ new monsters, and some returning third generation Monsters I'm super pumped to dive into another Monster Hunter game.
I stopped playing ORAS a long time ago. This is why they should make it a thing that you can grind for in the months following release; because no one cares now. Only the very most engaged players will ever even notice this distribution.
Wow, you know you have problems when "I don't regret releasing it on the Wii U" is your pull quote... Anyway, between this and Year Walk the best of the Apple store is coming to your Wii U... in a bit.
The only games releasing in 2017 on Wii U will be Kickstarter stretch goals. It would be foolish to set out to do that now, what with all of this talk about the new platform being announced and even released next year.
This is the reason I didn't buy the Wii U; the emphasis on local coop seemingly at the cost of deeper singleplayer experiences.
The only multiplayer game I love is Monster Hunter and that's not even made by Nintendo. Smash and Kart are great when you have gamer friends in geographic proximity, but I don't, so they're immaterial to me anymore.
Every Monster Hunter game reuses a lot of assets and sells 2.5+ million copies in Japan. This one looks interesting because along with adding some new and old monsters it also looks to be changing up the gameplay a great deal.
I wonder if they aren't looking the Destiny beta and thinking that Splatoon, as a multiplayer online shooter, will get old and hurt sales if the demo windows are too long.
Destiny certainly got old for me and I've heard others say the same thing, for example.
@AVahne I don't need a history lesson from you, I knew all that already, because wikipedia exists. Anyway, I don't see how portable Playstation platforms are relevant. Japan is handheld-focused and the 3DS is the main handheld. Monster Hunter has been on Nintendo systems for the last 5 years, mostly on 3DS so that's where the audience is presently.
A Monster Hunter developed for PS4 would live or die based on the western audience. As much as I want to see one I doubt Capcom will risk that, given how little white people tend to care about MH.
This is why half-baked Zelda soundtracks are unacceptable; there are plenty of quite talented fans who would jump at the chance to get their renditions in the game. I mean, really, with all of these resources available Zelda U's soundtrack has no excuse to be anything less than excellent.
They should stop making new Mario Party games (because they clearly can't). Instead just do a Mario Party Remastered with many of the best boards and all of the good minigames (sans redundancies) remastered. That and a bloody option to have everyone in the same car or not. Seriously, Nintendo, options make your games better, get on them.
No piecemeal DLC for Zelda, please. When you get a Zelda game you should be buying the entire world of that game with nothing held back or tacked on. If they need to charge $70 or more for it, then fine, do that, just don't break up the content creating an artificial economic game that inherently spoils the content you're buying and messes with the world design.
@Grumblevolcano Oh, go anti-fanboy something else! Monster Hunter Tri was great, 3 Ultimate was great, and now 4 Ultimate is great. That's, like, history and poopitypoop!
@FcsevenXIII Obviously because they made an entire game's worth of content. All monster hunter games are similar, just with subtle improvements to the existing mechanics and more monsters and weapons. That and big things like Monster Hunter 3's underwater combat and Monster Hunter 4's, much better thought out, aerial combat and climbing.
This could be really cool in parts. Imagine if there was a long sequence where Link is traversing a dungeon like the water temple. If they could replicate the exhaustion and shock I and many other players felt when they fought Dark Link in that bizarre room... that would be amazing. Just do some brutal knock-down, drag-out fight like the one in the last episode of season 4 of Game of Thrones... that would be amazing.
How to keep exploring dungeons and the world interesting, though, that's the trick.
@RainbowGazelle They are releasing a resident evil game, RE Revelations 2, and monster hunter is a deeper game. Try it, you might enjoy it / know what you're talking about.

Re: Nintendo is Getting Into the Movie Business
@NintendoFan64 As a game company they would hardly make a live action series in-house.

Well, at least he's honest. They don't really make games that ambitious anymore...

An open world Monster Hunter on PS4 would be the most ambitious game. The 3DS probably has the biggest audience for the game, though.

Re: Feature: Why We're Still Playing... Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate After Dozens of Hours
This game is easily the 3DS's GOTY. It's just too good, nothing else can surpass it this year.
If Capcom's studios can do this on a 3DS I can't wait to see what they could do with a game created from the ground up on a next gen console.
Re: Feature: Why We're Still Playing... Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate After Dozens of Hours
Monster Hunter makes me a monogamer for months after its release.

Re: Poll: Which Nintendo Franchises Should be Produced as TV Shows?
Metroid and Zelda could work either as animation or as live action if done right. I think a Paper Mario-like Mario anime could be really cool as well.
